4 out of 5 eggsIt's okay

Pros: This mother board runs fine. The problem is that the older CPU run hot.

Cons: I have to run an 24 inch box fan to keep things cool. More of the CPU fault.

Other Thoughts: I would buy a newer mother board at this time that runs the new ADM CPU with video card built in. It will save you money, and run cool.

3 out of 5 eggsnothing but problems

Pros: 1. I bought the board because it supports 32GB of RAM, I wanted to build a linux box that ran VMware virtual machines and planned on remoting into it (like an ESX server, but with linux and VMware workstation), lots of not related to the MB problems, but I'll skip those here. 32GB of RAM IS FREAKIN AWESOME! (fyi I never bought that much because the board is a massive failure)
2. cust support helped me out with an RMA on my first board for a "North bridge chip burned up" issue, got the replacement within a reasonable amount of time
3. bios updates for many of my problems were released quickly as I actively communicated directly to ECS my issues
4. massive SATA connections, a must for virtual machines
5. on board raid support, although I never got it working the way I wanted and ended up not using it.
6. 8 on board USB 2.0 ports and 3 addon card ports for 12 more if needed! (used one for the front facing case ports though)
7. awesome customization in the BIOS
8. manual CPU config

Cons: 1. the chips over heat at very low temperatures and shut off the system
2. the auto temp shutdown sensor is Bad, my system was running CPU 50C and case temp of 38C and the system shutdown because of the thermal sensor??? (happened after 3 minutes of running the system every time till I disabled the feature in the Bios
3. even after Bios updates, it never recognized my RAM or CPU settings correctly (tried 3 different brand ram chips and 3 different models of one of them), even RMA's my ram twice thinking it was bad. If I set the RAM class setting manually to the manufacturer default specs, the board won't POST, if I try and put the ram in dual channel config, the board won't POST, if I put more than 2 sticks of ram in the board, the board won't POST. if I put the ram any way but DIMM 1 and 3 (or only in 3), the board won't POST. starting 2 months ago, and still, if I power the system off, the board won't POST. resolution is to reset the CMOS every time I want to cold boot the syste

Other Thoughts: purchased this MB in april 2009
more cons:
4. the pcie 1x slots are so close together you can only use one and it you have one huge graphics card you cannot use either or the second 16x slot
5. there is a fan power connection for a north bridge fan, but no fan on the board and no way to mount one, probably why it burns up on everyone
6. if I try to use the HDMI out AND the VGA out, the board locks up after 20-60 minutes and shuts down, then the board won't POST
7. also started 2 months ago, if I add, change, or remove any piece of hardware between power ons (even a usb device) then the board won't POST, even for a warm boot
8. boot up options don't recognize multiple drives on the eSATA, windows doesn't recognize multiple drives on the eSATA, linux works fine, even with 6 drives connect through the one eSATA

last good thing
If everything is configured right and the case keeps it cool, this board runs 24/7/365 for two years and still going, with all the above mentioned problem

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't post

Pros: Features: mem support, IDE, RAID 5

Cons: The motherboard does not post with the new AMD Phenom II X6 (1090). before I bought the board I specifically went to ECS website and made sure that it supports this CPU!!! Looks like it does not!

Other Thoughts: ECS site does not have much info on any issues. I would at least expect to see some basic troubleshooting guide in case of basic issues (I think that posting issue is the first possible issue one can experience, don't you think?). Besides when I tried submitting support request form their system returns an error. Well done ECS! I cannot believe this board has won an award.

2 out of 5 eggsdoa

Pros: N/A

Cons: Well when i got the board it was dead. I called their tech support and they said to flash the bios but I kindly informed the guy that if I can't get it to post then I can't flash the bios.

Other Thoughts: Went with an MSI board after my run in with the tech guy.

4 out of 5 eggspci-e slot not working?

Pros: Overall a great board, have not had many problems with it despite running it for awhile up until now recently on the factory bios.

Cons: my second pci-e slot doesnt appear to be functional. i'm trying to install a second graphics card but it appears the slot is non-functional. both cards work in the other slot.

Other Thoughts: really a sweet board, just ecs didnt reply to my first email, maybe they'll see this.

3 out of 5 eggsWeird Board

Pros: The board has a lot of pci slots and it supports AM3.

Cons: some overheating issues.

Other Thoughts: thought board came dead on arrival, however it turned out that I misinterpreted the manual.

4 out of 5 eggsGood board, could be better

Pros: lots of SATA, two PCI-E x16 slots, plenty of USB, easily reached CMOS reset, HDMI on board for the integrated graphics, 4 DIMM slots for up to 32 GB, mostly works

Cons: I had seemingly random shutdowns under Windows XP, Windows 7, Fedora 11, and Mandriva 2010. I tried several ways to fix it. Finally, I figured out that although I have plenty of cooling and the motherboard's sensors never read near the configured thermal shutdown limits that if I disabled the thermal shutdown things work great and stable. I deducted an egg for that. There might be a BIOS fix for that by now, but I haven't bothered checking recently.

Other Thoughts: I can monitor my temperature through my OS. The automatic hardware shutdown would have been a nice feature if it worked as designed, but I've found it unnecessary. It's better to just avoid the false alarms, since the reported temps are accurate and it was only the shutdown that was triggering on too low of temps.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy ECS!!!

Pros: Mobo's work great out of the box, then they slow down and die!

Cons: I have had this mobo about a year. It was nice and fast at first, but then they slow down and even after a clean install they never pick up full speed again. I built a computer for a woman with another ECS mobo that turned out to be defective and when I tried to contact ECS, it turns out that they have no contact # and you have to do everything by e-mail. I started the process almost two weeks ago and am still waiting to have it resolved. In short the Mobo was defective, and even though it is still under warrenty they will not replace it, they will only repair it, charging me labor ane shipping both ways!!! 2 weeks!!! How many of us out there want to wait 2 weeks when your mobo dies to find out what is going to happen with it!!!

1 out of 5 eggsOverheating Issues

Pros: Great Features and Price Point, purchased for $105

Cons: Overheating northbridge, Ram became extremely hot, graphic card issues, board was plagued from get go!

Other Thoughts: Purchased computer from Feb/2010. Experienced problems from the start, crashing, blue screen of death. Upgraded to 64bit Windows 7, severe heat issues started. Tech said northbridge was overheating, causing RAM to heat up severely. My defective MB was out of Newegg's 30 day warranty. I was quoted by ECS in USA in excess of the price I paid for MB. Called Newegg, they were awesome in providing immediate full refund for the return to a Canadian location.

Case: Raidmax Smilidon
Power Supply: 500 Watts
CPU: AMD Phenom 955
GPU: 5770 1GB DDR5
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 750GB
RAM: 4GB DDR3 1333mhz OCZ
