4 out of 5 eggsGREAT PRICE

Pros: Great cheap price for basic needs. Bought this to build a PC for my kids. They did not need anything fancy or powerful just so they can do homework.

Cons: None so far, with THIS one.

Other Thoughts: This is the first of these MOBs I have purchased. A few weeks later I used this same model MOB for a customer build and that one arrived DOA.

Newegg replaced it though,no questions asked.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks Now

Pros: Good price.

Cons: The MOB arrived DOA. It kept on cycling the power on and off, on and off, on and off. I switched everything out (CPU, RAM, PSU, etc.) one at a time and it kept doing it.

Newegg replaced it though no questions asked.

Other Thoughts: This is my second one of these MOBs and this is the first one to arrive DOA. However, other than that it works great and does the job. I have another build for a customer coming up and I will go with this MOB again. But, if this one arrives DOA I may reconsider and go with a different brand.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Compatible with Haswell Refresh

Pros: Low cost, perfect for my need

Cons: Won't work out of the box with Haswell Refresh, BIOS needs flashed but you need the previous gen cpu to flash it. Per Elitegroup support when I asked why I couldn't get video output.

Other Thoughts: I can't really rate this since I couldn't use it. Should have checked the cpu compatibility first. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issue you are experiencing with your motherboard. If you haven't already, we would like for you to contact us. We can provide a flashing BIOS service for your motherboard.

1 out of 5 eggsFirst time & LAST TIME!

Pros: Price plus rebate would have been cheap IF it worked and IF I got my rebate.

Cons: Showed up DOA, no fans even blew. By the time the second on came my rebate had expired!! So I had to wait without a computer and now can't even process my rebate because the time expires. Stick with gigabyte asus etc b/c this thing is a toss up.

Other Thoughts: Elitegroup... lol

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing with your motherboard. Prior to shipping from our factory, all motherboards are tested to ensure that they are working properly. A DOA issue can be caused by any of the main components, including CPU, memory, power supply and motherboard. If possible we would recommend testing the motherboard in the following fashion.

Remove the motherboard from the case, with only CPU, CPU fan, memory and power supply connected. Place on a flat non static surface. Reseat the CPU. Test with only one memory at a time and reseat memory. Ensure that both the 24 pin and 4 pin (ATX12V) connections are connected from the power supply. Connect the power button from the case or short the power pins (6 and 8) to power on the system. If still have any issues or questions, please contact us and we can work with you to find a solution.

I or any of my team members here at technical support will be able to help you.

1 out of 5 eggsPOWER SUPPLY PORT IS TOO SMALL - AVOID

Pros: I am a Newegg Expert reviewer, and as a rule, I avoid ECS at all costs. BUT that was a few years ago, so I decided to try them again. Oh how I wished I hadn't. Price is right, but not for a board that doesn't work, no price is right for that.

Cons: See how "Anonymous" talks about 2 dead boards constantly rebooting, and Colin J.says the power supply is too small? It's the same problem. The power supply female port IS too small, and it won't lock in, Thus it will reboot often or not even turn on right.

Other Thoughts: IF you disregard the negative reviews, and get this board, here is a tip: If possible, try to get the main power supply into the motherboard BEFORE you put in the case. Since ECS didn't manufacture this correctly, It will take some serious hard work and luckily you may be able to get the power supply lock click on. Even then, you may have to "wiggle it" to get it to start, but then it's always going to be turning off and resetting due to the rotation of the earth the the breeze from the CPU fan. Just avoid this board and ECS in general. their RMA process is hair pullingly annoying. I didn't RMA this board, because ECS's ports are defective so I had to go with a different manufacturer.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about your power issues. If you haven't already, please contact us. We would like to get more information on your issue and find out details on how the isn't manufactured correctly. We would like to work with you in resolving this issue.

3 out of 5 eggsAdequate

Pros: Mostly works. Has the features I need for my HTPC.

Cons: Only one of the two system fan headers offers PWM function. Only 18 days from date of purchase to submit rebate, so don't take the time to ensure the motherboard works correctly or wait for any additional parts before mailing it.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your feedback. It is appreciated. We need your feedback in order to improve the quality of our products and service.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's Great and All... But....

Pros: Great, small board.
USB 3 is right angled.
First two SATA ports that you should use are right angled.
Cheap.

Cons: Only 3 fan headers, and one is for CPU.
Two PCI slots instead of any additional PCI-e.
PCIx16 slot is RIGHT over the PCIx1, so dual-slot GPU's (Even the 750Ti is dual-slot) will make that PCIx1 impossible to plug anything into. (This is why I dock an egg.)
Only 2 RAM slots. But this isn't really for builds with 32+GB of RAM anyway.

Other Thoughts: The two PCI slots are frankly unnecessary on a modern rig. One would be fine, on the bottom. The only thing that really gets me is the PCI-e x16 and the PCI-e x1 being so close that they only have 1 slot to each if you want something to populate both slots. I was going to use this rig as a LAN party rig and put a wireless AC card in it, but I can't without going with something as tiny as a GTX 750, and even those are semi-difficult to find in single-slot designs.
Verdict: Recommended, but don't expect to be able to get something in that PCI-e x1 slot if you're installing a GPU.

1 out of 5 eggs  2 dead boards

Pros: Never worked

Cons: Never worked

Other Thoughts: Ordered 1 when it was on sale and it arrived DOA. I bought another and returned the defective one. 2nd one arrived and it would boot up, but kept rebooting every 10 seconds. This one was also returned.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent inexpensive H87 board, if you don't mind what it's missing

Pros: Inexpensive.
This is a small microATX board, significantly smaller than the Asus P7-H55D-M EVO microATX setup it replaced.
The performance is excellent.
CPU VRM capacitors are solid.
It has headers on the motherboard for SP/DIF, COM port, consumer IR port, parallel printer, as well as the business related headers for trusted computing platform and case opening alert.

Cons: For the cost of going to the cinema stag, a lot is given up in comparison with the similarly named ECS H87H3-M(1.0).
- A PCIe 2.0X16 slot has been replaced with a legacy PCI slot. There is no chance for SLI or Crossfire with this motherboard.
- two RAM slots have been sacrificed
- two audio channels have been thrown out
- three audio ports lost (the 3 jacks left are line in, line out, microphone in).
(It does, however, gain two external USB2.0 ports and a second case fan port in comparison with that board).

In comparison with an ASUS H87 board that costs approximately double, it loses additionally
- a PCIe port (replaced with another legacy PCI port),
- UASP support
- 2 additional USB 3.0 ports
- eSATA
- Toslink (optical digital audio output)

There does not appear to be a power LED connector on the motherboard; in its place is a "message" connector. I would not mind being corrected/clarified regarding this issue.

There is only one USB 2.0 header on the motherboard, leaving much of the front panel of my home theater PC case without USB support. On the positive side, there is a USB 3.0 header.

The Intel graphics driver on the enclosed disc is incompatible with the newer i3 Haswell cpus. Fortunately, Windows Update downloads the correct one eventually.

Other Thoughts: If you are using HDMI, the loss of audio ports and Toslink is irrelevant. You could add a coaxial digital output cheaply, though, given the presence of the internal header.

Conclusion:
If you plan to use HDMI and Intel graphics, and if you don't need eSATA (or if you have an eSATA PCIe card), I wholeheartedly recommend this board. For the price, it is an excellent bargain.

If you do need the extra features, it is cheaper to buy a more expensive board than to add those features with upgrade cards.

5 out of 5 eggsNot a bad little mobo

Pros: Has all of the features I wanted and was pretty easy to work with.
-USB 3 header is sideways
-graphics card won't cover any SATA ports
-well-labeled front panel headers

Cons: Some of the machining made the power hard to put in. Like it was just SLIGHTLY too small, but that could have been the power supply as well.

Not worth docking an egg over, as it worked first time!

Other Thoughts: Buy it. You won't regret it.
