3 out of 5 eggsBad RAM slot

Pros: Inexpensive, HDMI, good connectivity options. Great for a HTPC when paired with an i3-4130T. I repurposed a pair of SSDs and ended up with a great little machine, except for one issue....

Cons: After several unexplained crashes and subsequent trouble getting it to boot or even post, I began troubleshooting. I found that one RAM slot seemed to be the issue. When I tested either RAM in the one slot, it was fine and memory passed several tests. When I tested either RAM in the second slot, it failed to POST.

Other Thoughts: Not sure yet if it is worth an RMA effort. I can get by with 4 GB RAM for this system.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Board, Low price

Pros: Cheap, It works out of the box

Cons: CPU placement is too close to the RAM and PCIE slot. Many Coolers will not work. Had to go with a water cooling kit because of this. A Hyper 212Evo will not fit as the Heatsink Brackets cover either the PCIE slot or the first DIMM Slot.

Other Thoughts: This board is decent for the cost, but you gotta know the limits of the design.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Compatible with G3258

Pros: Cheap, economic motherboard.

Cons: The motherboard is NOT compatible with the G3258 even after BIOS updates, which is a shame since the board advertises overclocking features.

2 out of 5 eggsNot very pleased.

Pros: Like the color scheme, excellent placement of the CPU socket. Easy, efficient, inexpensive.

Cons: Really not happy about this one. Was not aware that this motherboard was not Haswell-compatible. Bought this to assemble a mini-build to replace my father's old computer for Christmas. Got the computer assembled, but then... nothing. Found out after very heavy research that the board doesn't support the G3258 that I painstakingly picked out for this build. I have no reason to change the chip; it matched all the features I wanted. I'm very displeased that my father's Christmas present will be shoved back to some time after January 5th to wait for ECS tech support, or waste more money on paying $18 to return a $40 motherboard. I've had a lot of luck from Newegg, and I've been in good standing. I blame ECS for this. I took a chance buying this one, but I don't think I will ever again.

Other Thoughts: If a BIOS update is what is needed, I could fix that, but without a processor that will be frustratingly difficult. I would very much like to see the incompatibility listed on the Newegg page to warn future buyers.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: got it for 33 after rebate.

worked out of the box with my i3 4130T. threw it in a HEC ITX200A 8K01 case...Performance is pretty awesome
came with latest BIOS (7/2/14) - techincally any haswell should have been recognized.

installed windows 10 tech preview on a ssd and its smooth.

i replaced this with another ECS AMD 2100 mini itx board which was a slow performer. I will turn it into a NAS perhaps..

Cons: ports are a bit crammed - but thats expected of any mini itx board.
no usb3 extension header panel on board.

Other Thoughts: Would have gone for G3258 processor but reading other reviews, i was afraid that the BIOS may not recognize it and hence opted for i3 4130T (4130T is recognized since the first BIOS release of this board).. overall happy. as the manufacturer replied in another review, all the boards now seem to come with latest BIOS.

3 out of 5 eggsIncompatible out of box with G3258

Pros: Appears to be a board with great offerings at a great price

Cons: Unfortunately, mine shipped with an old BIOS and would not boot the G3258 CPU. Heads up to anyone that may have this processor.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsGood Budget mITX Board

Pros: - USB 3.0 support
- Well-supported in Linux
- Cheap (at the time of writing this, it's basically the cheapest 1150 mITX board I could find)

Cons: - Get what you pay for. Very cheap quality. I haven't had any major problems though

Other Thoughts: If you are going to make a mITX desktop build for daily use, I'd recommend spending a bit more to get a better-quality motherboard from a more reliable manufacturer.

It is a good option for tight budget build or (in my case) a cheap media/web server.

Last note: Messing components while the case is open tends to make this motherboard spontaneaously reboot. I suspect a minor manufacturing defect, but this hasn't been enough of an issue to warrent investigation since I almost never go near the box anyway.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for HTPC

Pros: Small decent board which has everything for an HTPC with limited cost

Cons: Need to add one M2.5x3 screw to mount a mini Pci-e wifi card

Other Thoughts: Northbridge works at temperature 40C, or 25C+enviroment temperature, which is OK

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate to my review

Pros: An update to my earlier review - The sleep mode is a working fine now. It was my own fault for not setting the pc to wake up from sleep mode from the keyboard in the bios.

Cons: see my last review

3 out of 5 eggsCheap, but...

Pros: It's cheap, and works.

Cons: When windows goes to sleep with c6/c7 enabled or disabled, it acts like hibernate mode. I have to press the power button to get it up and running again. This didn't happen with the Asrock h81-itx board I tested. This could be the board, or some hard to find setting I need to change.

The sata ports wouldn't recognize my drives right away, I had to change them around until they finally worked.

The BIOS isn't quite as smooth as other boards. I had to mouse over the options and click several times to get them to respond. Also - no Chassis fan control in bios.

Other Thoughts: This board does just what it's name implies- only the essentials.

No onboard USB 3.0 port.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issue you have experienced with your motherboard and we thank you for your feedback. It is appreciated. We need your feedback in order to improve the quality of our products and service.

For the resume function, please check the settings in your BIOS, under Advanced-->Power Management Setup. Ensure either Resume by USB or PS2, depending on the type of keyboard or mouse used, is set to enabled. Also ensure that the EUP Function is set to disabled.

The Intel H81 express chipset can support up to two USB 3.0. The ECS H81H3-I does have two USB 3.0 ports on the rear panel. The two USB 3.0 ports are designated by the standard blue coloring.
