5 out of 5 eggsIt is fine

Pros: does what it is intended for. Might not have all the bells and whistles, but you probably know that

Cons: might not be compatible with graphic cards with backplates. I got a Powercolor PCS+ R9 380 which came with the backplate, and it would not go in the PCIE slot because the backplate was being caught by the lower ram tabs. I cut the tops of the tabs off with a wire cutter, but others might not want to do that.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Poor Board

Pros: Inexpensive
Usually Boots

Cons: I've had two systems die now with this board.

Other Thoughts: Very disappointed with the purchase of this board. Well, not very, considering the price, but it has not held up a year after purchase. I have now reinstalled Windows four times because of constant issues with the board. Don't cheap out, just go ahead and treat yourself..buy something decent.

5 out of 5 eggsBEST ENTRY/VALUE LGA 1150 BOARD PERIOD.

Pros: Pretty much the lowest cost, mini itx board I found. it worked perfect with a Xeon E3 lga 1150 cpu, on chip graphics worked good, i put in a Radeon HD 7870 mini itx gpu and shoehorned it in a mini case. I play GTA V at 52-58 fps 1080p, while recording with AMD geming evolved app and gvr. it hadles my gaming and capturing good. GPU gets pushed to 100% with that cpu. have not had any issues, and it gets hot! running with a 480watt logisys psu from another case (Probably pushing it too)

I am really impressed that this thing can handlemy gaming while capturing, have not had any issues at all.

GTA V is on SSD with OS, game captures saved on a HDD 160gb for storage. this is at 1080p, 35mb per second, high quality video captures with AMD Gaming Evolded app, with Plays.tv beta.

running Win 10,
xeon E3 1265l v3 cpu
8gb ram, (2x4gb) crucial balistix 1600 ram,
kingston 120gb ssd for OS,
additonal 160 hdd for game captures.
1080p monitor,
wifi via usb 3.0 TP Link - AC1200 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

if this had enough connectivity and and you dont need wifi to be included, get this board, PERFECT! im using a usb 3.0 wifi adapter it was 30$, so if you can hook up the LAN ethernet cable, you will be in even better shape than me.

Cons: -- no usb 3.0 front header

(understandable at this price, id trade the dvi or vga for a usb 3.0 front header) no big deal i just use a usb hub, im using this thing to its MAX potential. JUST FEEDBACK FOR ECS, but its understandable, as low cost builds probably would use the vga or dvi out more likely than having a USB 3.0 on front of case. ( for future versions maybe? as less people use vga?)

-- wifi is not included

but thats okay if you wired to LAN, or have a usb WIFI adapter.

-- maybe a beefier heatsink on chipset would be nice, for aesthetics?

(but again im not overclocking and its handles my XEON cpu and Radeon HD 7870 GPU fine, not really a con.

ALL NOTES are NOT REALLY CONS, i mean its so low cost they gotta exclude this stuff to cut build cost. so at this price im just nitpicking, fact is
i had zero problems setting up and using this board so far.
the build quality is up to par, its not 1997 anymore, and it shows because this is a truly modern board with solid caps, standard good old lga 1150 socket by LOTES, nice quality and feel. i would not pick this up and say it feels cheap. it feels solid even for a mini board.

Other Thoughts: of course i did not plan on overclocking, since this is made to go in a mini case, you dont want all that extra heat by overclocking, its bad enough i paired a Radeon hd 7870 in a mini case, i dont need more heat! you would be shortening the life and stability with overclocking a g3258 in a mini case anyways

if you were hoping to use a G3258 in here, i would not, i see other reviewers had problems with that cpu. i would choose an core the highest Pentium, or an i3.

cheaping out on CPU to overclock it (g3258) requires know how, and best with a Z series board in a bigger form factor micro or full atx ( bigger case gets rid of heat better)

better way to go about it is to:
GET THIS BOARD, and USE the MONEY SAVED to get a nice i3 or a entry i5.

trust me, you will be Miles ahead in performance with less headache, less heat out put, than a
than a costly z97 or z87 board and a cheap g3258 pentium. trying to overclock that thing. its still only two threads it can compute (true dual core), an entry i3 would be better because it can compute 4 threads using hyperthreading.

If you are thinkng "well ill get a Z board and a G2358, and upgrade to an i7 later" for gaming or entertainment, forget that, get this ECS mini board, and get an i3 or i5, put in your miniITX GPU that fits in the mini case, and you are golden.

SOME ONE BULD THIS:

i5, i7, Xeon and put in a FURY NANO GPU when its released
im sure this thing would be an:

3 out of 5 eggsUpdate to previous review

Pros: Inexpensive. Plenty of features. Works prefect for what I needed it for (almost).

Cons: Not super high quality, but this is a budget board. As mentioned on other reviews, the Intel chipset used doesn't allow for another USB3 header on the board. No serial port on back (but there is a single header on the board - ugg it's like 1995 I have to find a PCI slot cover serial port and header cable).

Other Thoughts: First board had problems and I had to RMA (see previous review). Replacement worked like a champ. And no, I didn't have to do a fresh Windows install as the ECS response suggested. I'm using Windows 8.1, not Windows 2000, Windows is smart enough now to let you do a MB upgrade without FDISKing your machine.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your feedback. It is appreciated. We need your feedback in order to improve the quality of our products and service.

2 out of 5 eggsDrove me nuts

Pros: Had the features I wanted. Inexpensive.

Cons: Didn't work. I was swapping out an AMD Athlon board that was quite powerful enough to do what I wanted. I had a new CPU, but the RAM and drives were directly from the working AMD board. Plugged everything in and - it wouldn't POST. So I unplugged everything and finally got it to boot by plugging one thing in at a time ( but even then if the wind was blowing the wrong direction it wouldn't boot). Finally when everything was working, I plugged the Ethernet cable in. No link. So I upgraded the driver. Now Windows reported a hardware error. So I disassembled everything again and put the AMD board back in. The old AMD board came up just fine.

Other Thoughts: I RMAed my first board, when the next one comes I will give it another shot, hopefully I was just unlucky. If it fails again I'm getting a refund.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsBad RAM slot

Pros: Inexpensive, HDMI, good connectivity options. Great for a HTPC when paired with an i3-4130T. I repurposed a pair of SSDs and ended up with a great little machine, except for one issue....

Cons: After several unexplained crashes and subsequent trouble getting it to boot or even post, I began troubleshooting. I found that one RAM slot seemed to be the issue. When I tested either RAM in the one slot, it was fine and memory passed several tests. When I tested either RAM in the second slot, it failed to POST.

Other Thoughts: Not sure yet if it is worth an RMA effort. I can get by with 4 GB RAM for this system.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Board, Low price

Pros: Cheap, It works out of the box

Cons: CPU placement is too close to the RAM and PCIE slot. Many Coolers will not work. Had to go with a water cooling kit because of this. A Hyper 212Evo will not fit as the Heatsink Brackets cover either the PCIE slot or the first DIMM Slot.

Other Thoughts: This board is decent for the cost, but you gotta know the limits of the design.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Compatible with G3258

Pros: Cheap, economic motherboard.

Cons: The motherboard is NOT compatible with the G3258 even after BIOS updates, which is a shame since the board advertises overclocking features.

2 out of 5 eggsNot very pleased.

Pros: Like the color scheme, excellent placement of the CPU socket. Easy, efficient, inexpensive.

Cons: Really not happy about this one. Was not aware that this motherboard was not Haswell-compatible. Bought this to assemble a mini-build to replace my father's old computer for Christmas. Got the computer assembled, but then... nothing. Found out after very heavy research that the board doesn't support the G3258 that I painstakingly picked out for this build. I have no reason to change the chip; it matched all the features I wanted. I'm very displeased that my father's Christmas present will be shoved back to some time after January 5th to wait for ECS tech support, or waste more money on paying $18 to return a $40 motherboard. I've had a lot of luck from Newegg, and I've been in good standing. I blame ECS for this. I took a chance buying this one, but I don't think I will ever again.

Other Thoughts: If a BIOS update is what is needed, I could fix that, but without a processor that will be frustratingly difficult. I would very much like to see the incompatibility listed on the Newegg page to warn future buyers.
