Second time is the charm
- Pros: This is an excellent board when it works. I got the luck of
the draw and got a bad one first time around. Of course, Newegg made it right and sent me another one with no hesitation. How could anyone ask for anything better?
- Cons: Bad boards happen......that is life and not really a con
- Other Thoughts: I had to pay to return the bad board. Some people might have a problem with that but reasonably, what could you possibly expect. The bad board was in no way Newegg's fault. Why should they take the loss. I figure that is the chance I take when I buy by mail....occasionally I will get a bad part. If you think that is a problem, you should try another vendor and when you find they couldn't care less about helping you out, you will be back to Newegg where the customer is number one. I have been buying here for years and have had to RMA maybe 3 or 4 items. Returning those items was an insignificant price to pay for all the money I save at Newegg.
- Pros: Fast, full ATX form factor. I've paired it with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600 Brisbane 2.9GHz, from a newegg bundle deal. The pair are running nice and cool (40C), even with no extra case fans. Linux (debian) recognized the onboard sound card with no problem.
- Cons: Only 1 PATA channel, which is a very slight con.
I had some mild issues with the BIOS and grub bootloader. The hard drive boot order defaulted to PATA first, then the SATA. This made some things weird with the order in which grub labeled the drives, and then the bootloader got installed on the wrong drive.
- Pros: Board is awesome!! Running 4 gig ram with it and it smokes pretty fast. I have a Asus sli with 8 gigs and this board keeps pace with it. I put a small512 mb video card and all is good so far. using this board for a media pc to my 57inch plasma and it is running smooth.
- Cons: none that i can think of.
