bad board, lasted 1year
- Pros: easy overclocking, but no control over voltage, looks good on paper and looks great.
- Cons: LASTED 1 YEAR + 3 WEEKS BEFORE IT DIED. would not accept ram at 1066, so i had to set it at 800mhz. i rarely used this pc, maybe 2-3 times per week, so this board should have lasted longer. BAD PLACEMENT OF NORTHBRIDGE and RESET CMOS is in a really bad area. I have to remove video card to get at it. THE BOARD WILL NOT POWER UP AT ALL. COMPLETELY DEAD. I CHECKED POWER SUPPLY, CABLES, AND WIRES.
- Other Thoughts: now i have to buy a new motherboard and probably a new operating system. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO LOSE $200. I am very unhappy. BIOSTAR, i hope you are reading this. you need to fix your quality control.
OK...while it worked
- Pros: Motherboard was a very good price. I have bought other Biostar products with no problems.
- Cons: Worked great out of the box. After a couple of weeks, my computer froze while playing a game (world in conflict). The sound would get corrupted and the speakers would start making a squelching sound and game would completely freeze. Ctr+Alt+Del didn't do a thing. Only option was a manual power-off. This happenned a couple more times (about 10) until the motherboard finally bit the dust. My final diagnosis on the system was that it had serious problems handling RAM - motherboard's fault.
Also, it would hang-up during Windows boot and restart. It would happen at the point where the screen would display the windows loading progress bar. I would look at the little progress bar scrolling side to side for the telltale little glitch. If it hungup for a second, I would know that the computer would restart right before it displayed the blue XP login screen (select user sceren or whtevr).
- Other Thoughts: I was building a pretty decent gaming rig on a budget. I went over a little and decided to downgrade to budget motherboard to save a couple of $'s. Big mistake.
Replaced it with a GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard about 3 months later and couldn't be happier. Runs like a champ now.
Good board and service
- Pros: Very good mobo. And excellent customer service. Thought I had a problem with board, they replace it within a week. When new board came found out psu was at fault. Will buy from Biostar again since their customer service is great.
- Cons: none mobo work as advertised...very satisfied
- Other Thoughts: very excellent customer service
