4 out of 5 eggsBiostar Comes Through

Pros: Good price, good product, good service from Biostar in event of malfunction.

Cons: Mid range board for midrange chips

Other Thoughts: Good for a money saving system, and this board is backed by the excellent Biostar warranty technicians. I had a problem, and Biostar took care of me.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Replacement

Pros: Good replacement motherboard for those custom proprietary Alienware rigs that have the massive power supplies at the bottom of the case.

Cons: instructions may be difficult to understand for less advanced users

Other Thoughts: Bought it because the board in my alienware fried. Found out the power supply did as well, so got the N82E16817148046 power supply to go with it. Transferred the RAM, CPU, HDD and graphics card, added a new heat sink all into a mid-range case designed for keeping a rig cool. Booted up and configured as necessary. Rig has been running great and took much wasted electronics from a power surge and made it all useful again!

1 out of 5 eggsBioStar = Dying Star in 60 days

Pros: Cheap price. Looks nice.

Cons: Malfunctioning 2 months after purchase.

Other Thoughts: I liked it at first (the Star shone bright), but then after 60 days, the light began to fade (unreadable video and sudden freezes). Perhaps, I just got a bad one? Too bad. It developed problems after Newegg's warranty period of 30 days. I now look to the manufacturer for help. I'll tell you how that goes after I see what kind of service they give.

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry to hear of your troubles, here is Biostar direct warranty request form if you need.

5 out of 5 eggs3 Years running 24/7

Pros: I bought this board in march of 2009 and it has run flawlessly. I have not turned this computer off but only for 2 days during a move. I built this to run a 32 camera surveillance system, java programming, data storage (remote access usage also), Photoshop, minor encoding, and minor gaming. Despite the lower reviews on this board from previous people, I will give this board 5 eggs because of the dependability over the past 3 years it has served me.

Cons: 2 ddr2 slots

Other Thoughts: Biostar t41hd
core2 quad q8200
geminlls524
kingston hyperx 8gb ddr2 2x4gb
gtx285
seagate 250gb 16mb satall
2x seagate 1.5tb on raid 1 never a fault
It is still a good system today and about to hand down to cousin and build an i5-3570k

4 out of 5 eggsit works and then some

Pros: Ok so I was looking to update my computer without spending alot, I settled on this board because it had plenty of sata ports with the option to utilize my old pata lightscribe drives.

Over clocking is easy with this board, and an easy way to play newer games without busting your budget.

Cons: after downloading the OC and monitoring tools from their website, I restarted my computer and it wouldnt allow any programs to open. I had to completely reinstall win7

Other Thoughts: I can play most new games, havnt tried quad core recomended games seeing im runing a dual core 2.6 oc to 3.1 but it plays saints row the third with no lag.

4 out of 5 eggsIt gets the job done

Pros: Like Bacardi and Coke, it gets the job done, booted up on the first try, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 recognized all hardware without a hitch. Relatively inexpensive. Onboard video is a plus for troubleshooting. Only AXT FF that I found for my old E6400 with 4GB DDR2 800.

Cons: Only 2 Dimms?? Colors and Bios are kinda cheezy but hey, this was an easy $60 fix for my old fried ASUS P5B Deluxe. Has a molex connector on the board they say is for a video card but the only molex cable provided was molex to SATA. My old 8600 GT has a molex connector on it for power. Kinda strange but oh well, as long as it works.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace fried ASUS board, was hoping for a whole new system but the wife put the kaibash on that.

Bottom line, if you need something cheap to bring your old PC back from the dead, this is it...

1 out of 5 eggsBeware of Biostar's Warranty

Pros: Nice looking, easy installation in an ATX mid tower. Plenty of everything for the kind of installations I perform.

Cons: This is the third BioStar T41HD board I bought new from Newegg or got back from BioStar repair that did not POST. Two never worked and one failed to POST after 2 years. All three boards were set up the same so there could not have been any compatibility issues. My real issue is what you will read below in other thoughts regarding BioStar's warranty program.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is the best company I have worked with in the years I have been building computers so what I am about to say has no reflection on Newegg. What I learned from recent experience is BioStar does "funny stuff" with their warranty program. Newegg simply expresses the manufacture's warranty found as they understand it in the item details. So, if you were to buy a Biostar board with a three year warranty, you would expect a three year warranty as I did. However, BioStar does not mean three years from when you buy it new rather they mean three years from when they built the board. One of my BioStar boards with issues was built 2 years before being sold and another was built 2 years and 2 months before being sold. If you expect a 3 year when you buy a motherboard, I suggest reading the serial number before you open the motherboard box and determine when it was built. The year and week of build follows the letter in the serial number (IE: 0000Z6240000 is week 24 in 2006).

2 out of 5 eggsCan't handle 4GB+ memory

Pros: Nice ATX board (if it could use 4 or 8 GB of memory)

Cons: I spent hours wrestling with this board. The bios showed that I had 4gb of ram installed, but my 64-bit OS was only showing 3.25G--even with the memory remap feature enabled. Upgraded bios to latest still no go. Since then, looking at many other LGA775 reviews here, trying to use memory over 3GB on LGA775 boards does not generally work. If you need more than 3GB of memory, go for a 1155 socket and save yourself a lot of time.

Other Thoughts: If you aren't running windows, Biostar does not offer a way to do a bios update (that I could find). There may be other tools that will work, but I did not want to take a chance of bricking the board...

1 out of 5 eggsPIECE OF JUNK

Pros: It finally worked after figuring what the bug was, memory wasn't fast enough even though it was within specs. It did work with my P4 Dual core 3.5g cpu and it was fairly quick for a while.

Cons: I have almost 30 years of working with pc's since the early 80's with the TRS80 and built my own XT from a bare board, so I should have believed the bad reviews about this board. The 1st board booted once and quit. The second board finally came up and lasted 3 days until it self destructed almost caused a fire in my house. Newegg's service to this point has been good, but will not honor it's 30 day return policy claiming it was "probably damaged during installation" so now I'm going to be in a P***ing match with Biostar to get another replacement of this questionable board that in my opinion maybe a fire hazard. It managed to eat 3 of my power supplies before it tried to burn my house down. Now in retrospect the p/s were like fuses to protect me from this thing, the last p/s was more robust and the board burned itself up instead.

Other Thoughts: In the future I will obtain my motherboards from local suppliers, I may pay a bit more but at least they will stand behind their products when there is a problem and not pass the buck.
