1 out of 5 eggsNo S3 Sleep

Pros: Works as expected, EXCEPT for the problem noted in "Cons", which to me is a very large problem.

Cons: No S3 Sleep. I didn't even know there were motherboards that did not support this. I did not see this anywhere on the page when I bought it. No S3 Sleep means when you put your computer to sleep, it is not a very deep sleep -- all the fans keep running.

Other Thoughts: It is quite cheap. If you don't use the sleep mode, it should work fine for you.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Deal - Biostar = Good

Pros: Good Low Cost Motherboard - Built this system with good used parts Athlon x2 215 2.7Ghz CPU, 2GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM, 160GB SATA Laptop HDD Dual-boot Linux Mint 16 & Windows XP Pro SP3, and 2 x DVD-RW drives ( 1 x IDE & 1 x SATA ) It was nice that this board still has IDE port to support use of good used parts in more modern build. There are times when IDE drive communications are plenty or you want to use an older DVD Burner that is IDE such as myself with my build.

Works flawless at converting my raw unencoded video game gameplay videos that are up to 50GB in size down to 1GB or 2GB in size with Virtual Dub.

Added cross over cable between this system and gaming system to send large videos from fraps over to this system to process and encode to smaller AVI format and then post to youtube etc.

Another great Biostar motherboard. My 12th Biostar motherboard purchase in 5 years, since I also build computers for people and use Biostar for low cost reliable builds.

Cons: USB Ports on the Motherboard may conflict with some video card installations, however the GeForce GT430 ( smaller video card ) had no troubles.

Other Thoughts: Wish it came with 2 x PCI slots, but able to get by on 1.
Wish it was Socket AM2+ instead of AM3 as for if it was AM2+ I would have bought 2 of these to put an older Socket AM2 Dual-Core CPU back into operation, since AM2+ supports AM2 and most AM3 CPU's that are quadcore or lesser.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Board

Pros: its a good board, it boots and its setup is nice. i liked its color scheme and the simplicity of it. Beginner's board for sure! i recommend it for people with am3 processors.

Cons: It is out of date, i am trying to sell it.

Other Thoughts: I Made a mistake in purchasing this board, i meant to buy the Biostar 970 but the board is am3 not the AM3+ like the 970. i thought it would be smart to get a am3 socket but little did i know that the processor i was running before the upgrade, is better than all the am3 processors.

I want to start using the new processors, migrating to PC gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsBiostar Budget Build - Legacy

Pros: great price for a MB for a budget build. had legacy IDE/PATA controller to use older hard drive that was big enough and new enough to still use for a replacement build for an outdated athlon xp system. HAd enough connections on board for everything such as USB 2.0 and vga. supports 16GB memory with only 2 slots so i put in 8GB total. Bios seems already up to date and is very user friendly. seems like everything is laid out right except i am not using any of the slots such as PCI or PCIe's which may interefere with a larger video card if i would ever need one but this isnt for games so ai m not worried about that. supposrt AM3 processor which is older technology but good price for replacement. 4 SATA slots for devices.

Cons: only sata 3gb, no usb 3.0, only vga not both vga and dvi or HDMI. really small compact board.

Other Thoughts: does what its suppose to do and has enough for the replacement i needed it for on a bugdet build. this board and AM3 will be discontinued soon.

3 out of 5 eggsNo internal USB connection for front of case

Pros: Cheap, and Biostar puts out a stable product.

Cons: Seriously, how much money did Biostar save by not soldering pins on the board for a front of case USB connection. The spot is there on the board, but NO pins. If you want USB on the front of your case, look elsewhere!

Other Thoughts: If you want USB on the front of your case, look elsewhere!

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry, confused on your specification feedback. The A780L3C does have 2 internal USB headers that can support up to 4 USB devices. Please check again, the headers are right next to the battery of the motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat budget board

Pros: Lines up well to the back plate of the case
Good customer support
Comes with plenty of screws, cables, etc

Cons: None for the price

Other Thoughts: Purchased this board about a year ago for my grandfather's build. He wanted a budget PC for everyday use. I chose this board and it hasn't let us down. It was an easy install with no fuss. Earlier this year there was a severe storm that took out their TV, among other electric devices, including this motherboard. Customer support was quick to respond and I had the board back in about two weeks. His insurance company paid for a new board, so we purchased the same one in the meantime so he wasn't without a computer and have the repaired board as a spare just in-case. Overall good experience.

5 out of 5 eggsReliability on the cheap

Pros: Inexpensive, reliable, decently fast with an X2 270 even running Vista. Perfect office web brosing machine. Replaced a bad AM2 motherboard with X2 5400

Cons: front panel connector non standard. DVI or HDMI would be nice. but would probably raise the cost.

Other Thoughts: mine has Realtek audio instead of VIA audio. not a pro or con. even the manual says VIA.
