1 out of 5 eggsAnother DOA

Pros: No idea, it arrived dead

Cons: It arrived dead. I wish I'd read the reviews before buying this thing. Clearly XFX has some major QC problems, they should have recalled this thing.

Manufacturer Response:

Please contact our technical support staff and report the error you are seeing, we may be able to assist you in troubleshooting the problem.

1 out of 5 eggsWhat's there to say

Pros: I think the other negative reviews say it all.

Cons: I have had nothing but problems with Xfx products. From this DOA motherboard, to graphics cards that repeatedly fail. They used to cross ship replacement items, with simply giving them your Credit card info, now they claim they don't don't do that on products beyond 30days. That's funny, they did it to replace my last video card which I had for 7 months before it crapped out. Shady company with poor products and policies. I HIGHLY advice doing your research and avoiding Xfx products like the plague.

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't recommend an Xfx product to my worst enemy. If you want to deal with RMA'ing junk all the time, sure, go for it and take what they have to offer, but if you want to avoid all the hassles and get quality worry free motherboards and video cards, look elsewhere. Terrible products and quality control.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY THIS BOARD

Pros: None unless you like endless headaches.

Cons: First weeks this board worked great. XFX support is the worst though. No original drivers, manuals, or anything but general system cooling and a couple other general files at their site. I went there originally for a bios update. After google'ing xfx x58i bios, I found many people that had downloaded it off their sight and killed one of their bios'. Support sent me a version they use and this installed fine. You can not get to xfx support at all without registering a product, which means, if you have to take your pc somewhere to have it worked on, the service center will not be able to get drivers for your board. This was explained to me so the support could send you files and updates. I tried to work with XFX for an advanced replacement. Next, my 3rd black slot died. I tried the ram in all the other slots ok. XFX blamed this on ram or cpu. There are to many people having the same problem with the board, and not others like asus. Goole XFX X58i Memory Problem. You will see.

Other Thoughts: After fighting with them, they finally found paperwork I would have to fill out and fax to them. However, in the mean time, I found the 1.3 bios on their sight, which should have been mailed to me according to XFX as stated above. The batch file tried to run a file that was misnamed, and after the flash, that bios would no longer produce video. At this point I was done with XFX. I do not want their junk in my system. XFX will not do a refund. Their manuals are wrong, the slot mismarks others have mentioned in the original manual, and the bios flash instructions from support say to flash the backup, where the online manual tells you that you never should. It took sometimes 9 days for support to answer a ticket. Two times, I had to reset my XFX password. And this is kept in and copied from a text document so typo'ing is not a factor.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear that you have had a problem. Please email me your support ticket ID as well as information on your problem to so that I can review your case. Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsLearning Curve for new line of boards for ALL

Pros: Great board, great features. All these poor reviews (IMHO) are mostly operator error! I have been buying nothing but xfx for about 2 years now, and have always been very happy. If something is ever wrong, they go over and above the call of duty to help fix the problem. I only have had one problem, and it turned out to be the ram, and not the 780i board. There are some VERY CRUCIAL details on this board in regards to installation like the memory banks, and the order etc, as well as some other things that if not done will not post. (AND IT'S NOT THE MOBO'S FAULT!)

Cons: A bit more software would be nice, but all the accessories were great! Also some more overclocking tools would be good.

Other Thoughts: When buying this board, or looking at reviews, TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION operator fault with all the people new to this motherboard configuration (x58-i7) They waited 6months longer than any other manufacturer to work out the bugs, and it shows. They will stand behind the board and make sure that you are happy...They always have for me!

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: If it worked, it would be nice with the features.

Cons: When i got this, it was DOA, no post at all. I sent it back, and they gave me another one, and it was DOA as well. By then i couldnt get a refund through newegg like i requested, so they just sent me another one again.

The third one i got eventually worked after playing with each possible ram config, althouh it only reads as 4 instead of 6.

When i had to unplug my harddrives to take the motherboard out to add a cpu heatsink, it would not recognize any raid config and would not boot off of anything. So now im stuck with this thing and about to go through XFX with their warantee and i can only hope the 4th one i get from them will work.

I have had nothing but problems with this motherboard and it has been the worst board i have ever bought, im going back to asus.

Other Thoughts: It's hard to put my frustration over this into words.....

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear that you have had a problem. Please contact me with your support ticket information at so that I can look over your case. Thank you.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Lots of nice features, had high hopes for all pci-e slots and 12 gigs of ram! Just never got the chance to do anything with it.

Cons: DOA - no post... ever, not even a system beep when booting with no ram. All features would have been nice to use, but nothing worked.

Other Thoughts: For 10 bucks more I went with Asus P6t Deluxe and was much happier. I like the bios more, onboard propietary Asus OS that it boots to right off the bat. Not a feature i would use much, but still nice to have. I like the OC features you can change in windows on the fly, yes that's right WITHOUT HAVING TO REBOOT!!! All around better board.

Manufacturer Response:

Make sure that you are using the black slots on the motherboard. They are the primary. The board will not beep without memory in it.

If you have any issues with the board feel free to contact our customer support.

5 out of 5 eggsKnow what you're doing before building a computer

Pros: The motherboard was bought in a bundle with the i7 920 processor and arrived promptly like all things from NewEgg. Board included every part and piece needed (after a few builds you'll really appreciate this), nothing left off or needed to "scrounge".
I used the Corsair 6 GB kit (triple channel) and at first the system wouldn't boot. Knowing that the manuals from the far east are notoriously riddled with errors, I changed the configuration to the slots opposite what the manual instructed were correct for a 3 stick set up and system booted and ran fine.
I have had very minimal trouble with this board after 2 months.
Now 12 Gigs of Corsair RAM (at $140 per 6GB how can you leave that on the table?), 6 total hard drives: (2) Raptors in RAID0 for the OS, (2) 750 GB, and (1) 1.5 TB set up as single drives and a 80 GB Raptor for crucial file backup. single ATi 4830 video card, Corsair 750 watt PS and plain jane Lian Li case.

Cons: With a RAID0 setup, at times the "boot" HD will inexplicably change to one of the other drives and cause the system to fail to boot. I remedied this in the BIOS by making ONLY the RAID drives viewable to the system BIOS. It seems to have remedied the problem. The only thing I can think is that the RAID driver could be just a tad slow to initiate and boot and the system could default to the second drive in the list. You used to be able to set the disk timeout but now the BIOS is "too smart" to need human override. Anyway, a minor issue even if not resolvable.

Other Thoughts: I wonder how may of the systems reviewed here with negative comments and reported as "DOA", if shipped to someone with more experience than just a "forum warrior" would be functioning just fine. Probably allot.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Let see how to put this, newegg was great!!!!! ordered and shipped fast.

Cons: The board was "DOA" I can't say anything about it, except i replaced it with an ASUS p6t.

Other Thoughts: Beware!!!! Do yourself a favor and read all the reviews about posting problems with this board before you buy.

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless Price of Junk

Pros: Looks Cool

Cons: 1)Will not overclock (crashes if you change any of the settings)
2)Will not use more than 1 stick of RAM (2-3 sticks will crash on startup)
3)No utilities for this board
4)This is the second XFX X58 board...first one was DOA
5)This is my first and Last XFX product

Other Thoughts: XFX Tech support was a nice guy but Nice didnt fix the board
