3 out of 5 eggsUpdate on progress

Pros: It runs with good overclock capabilities if you have the right components together. As.my previous review, i did get this mobo to take XMP @1600mhz with Kingston HyperX Blu, but only 4 gigs (2x2gb). Ran my q9550 at 3.4 without issues for years, did not bother past that.

Cons: Tried multiple memory sticks from 2x2gb to 2x4gb, again its trial by error with number of hours wasted if you want 1600mhz.

Other Thoughts: Well, new games are out requiring new hw especially more ram. Finally got my pc12800 2x4gigs ripjaws to work on mobo. Didn't take XMP, so needed to manual adjust. Trick is strap FSB to MCH and set to 1066, but leave ram at 1600 to get 3.4Ghz. Yeah its not as good as my Kingston setup which was 1:1, but it leaves my cpu at same speed as before and perf tests showed only 7% drop in mb/s from the memory. Also win7 showed mem perf same as before. New games run at high to ultra settings, not bad for an old machine.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Board for the Price

Pros: I have used this board for years with a Q6700 and have had no problems with it. It supports ddr3 ram so it can be swapped to more modern systems.

Cons: The one thing that was not great about this board was the over clocking ability. I could only get a small bump in clock speeds. However, I did not except much for the price.

2 out of 5 eggsThe Most Stupid Motherboard Ever

Pros: It worked... got it as an open box special so i didn't have to pay as much for what is ultimately the worst motherboard i've ever owned.

Cons: Does not support 1600 mhz RAM. In fact, it doesn't even support 1333 mhz, or 1066 mhz. Any attempt to do so results in lockup. The only speed it supports without any problems is 800 mhz (400 mhz in dual channel,) which is not what is advertised. It also picks the most impossible timings for your RAM especially when you are trying to pull out more speed, part of the reason it locks up. For instance, my RAM is from G.Skill which is supposed to operate at 1333 mhz with 8-8-8-21 timings. but when i set 1333 mhz in the bios it picks 8-5-5-13. it also ignores any attempt to change the auto selected timings. selecting other frequencies results in equally stupid timings. As i type this i'm forced to run at 800 mhz with 8-5-5-13 timings in order to prevent lockup. That's what the motherboard picked... not me.

Other Thoughts: I attempted to use RAM that was on the QVL just to see if it could work as advertised and to eliminate the possibility that i'm just being stupid. No luck; the same stupid timing glitch as described above. The instruction manual demonstrates features and options that are not actually present in the bios screen. And as others have pointed out ASRock is not responding to my queries at all. What's sad is people still buy ASRock products which keeps them afloat even though they deserve to sink. I ignored the horror stories other people posted about them, and in some cases experienced through others second-hand. Now i have my own horror story, and i'm left with it until i decide to upgrade again.

3 out of 5 eggsmeh

Pros: lots of options, good bang for the buck

Cons: unfortunately poorly documented, I've had weird issues like it not wanting to put with my HOTAS setup plugged in... Never seen anything like that before. Personally, I don't like the location of the 4 pin power lead

Other Thoughts: bought as a replacement for a dead board under a budget. still playing with all the options for maximum 'fun'

5 out of 5 eggsGreatly Surprised

Pros: DDR3 on a LGA775 Board, Optical Audio Out, Great OC Capabilties.

Cons: Not that it's a huge con, but the board isn't very aesthetically pleasing. I like my builds to have a nice finish especially if it's in a case with a side window. this one just hits all the colors on the pallet which I'm not used to... But that's only because I usually build with EVGA or MSI boards. Performance wise, not a single complaint about this board.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a last minute fix for a board that died, needed an LGA775 board with 4 DDR3 slots and this was one of very few options left. However, I'm VERY pleased with it's performance. Compared to the MSI P43-C51 it replaced, the bios is MUCH more in depth and provides many more options to fine tune a perfect overclock. Managed to get my Core 2 Quad Q6600 from 2.4GHz to a stable 3.0GHz without a single hiccup on prime95. For being an impulse replacement board on my part, it's a great buy regardless.

4 out of 5 eggsFinally Stable

Pros: XMP, price, good performance OC capabilities.

Cons: Runs a little warm, DDR3 1600Mhz setup is somewhat weird from owners manual. Ran 3 sets of DDR3, some compatibility issues.

Other Thoughts: Finally after two months of playing with the board (part-time) to OC Q9550 at 3.4Ghz, it's stable! Started with OCZ Extreme Low Volt (1.35v) = Failure, the motherboard continues to set to 1.7v. Put in Kingston Hyper X Blu and use XMP while forcing the motherboard to use 1.65v = Success! Now what to do with my OCZs.

Also stuck in a CoolerMaster tower HSF, which keeps the cpu quite cool for OC. I know I can push past 3.4Ghz, but I think I had enuogh time with the 775 series.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT LAYOUT, PERFORMANCE, AND NO REGRETS!

Pros: See my earlier review. I've got this P43DE3 FULLY LOADED DOWN and it has ZERO ISSUES.

I have to way in here and say this is one of the best LGA775 motherboards I've ever worked with. I have been building systems since 1982, and am a certified tech and have built literally THOUSANDS of computers.

In fact, I retired a CLASSIC Gigabyte GA-EP45C-UD3R for the P43DE3 to take advantage of 16MB of DDR3 in Win7x64 Ultimate.

I even have the dreaded WD 1TB external USB drive and the SYBA ATA150 Serial controller card (running 2 ASUS optical drives) with ZERO boot issues.

This board, 16GB DDR3, Quadcore (3.5 overclocked in BIOS), and ATI 6950 will cut through any of the latest games as easily as the latest i7 combos are doing, at least to my satisfaction, and I am a very picky and savvy gamer.

Cons: * NONE *

Other Thoughts: For those having issues, check your PSU and DRAM settings. Make sure you are NOT MIXING different DRAM STICKS. Make sure in your BIOS that your 3, 5, and 12 volts have no more current variance than .005%.

IMO, the P43DE3 has a much better layout than the Gigabyte P43T-ES3G, giving you THREE PCIEx slots vs one on the P43T.

I chose the P43DE3 over the P43T mainly because of the OPTICAL S/PDIF over the coaxial S/PDIF on the P43T. But I am glad I did, because IMO, the P43DE3 is a better LGA775 board, and I've been using Gigabyte for over 20 years.

The best (and latest) driver (v8700a_20100923) for the VIA HD VINYL is here: http://www.via.com.tw/en/support/drivers.jsp

I have ZERO IRQ conflicts.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Good price. DDR3 Memory. Good reviews from Tom's Hardware.

Cons: This motherboard was dead on arrival. Sent it back and got a Gigabyte P43T-ES3G in return. I love the Gigabyte - no problems with it at all.

1 out of 5 eggsWasted money

Pros: low price

Cons: terrible support

Other Thoughts: Like many others, I get the BSOD caused by the audio driver. I've tried every version I can find, still no joy. Not a peep from tech support, waste of time that. Time to order something from ASUS or Gigabyte to replace it and cut my losses.
