2 out of 5 eggsSlow and Silent RMA Department

Pros: The motherboard itself is pretty good. While it worked I really liked it. As a computer engineering student I really enjoyed tweaking the clockrates and configuring the voltages and frequencies. I also really liked the fan on the North Bridge, not sure how effective it was but it was still pretty cool. No real complaints about the motherboard.

Cons: Unfortunately after several months of use 2 of the DIMM slots failed (that's not the con, these things happen).

I contacted customer support; got my RMA with little hassle and shipped it off to California. The day prior to its arrival I emailed ASRock to let them know and request confirmation that it got there safely and intact. 3 business days after its arrival I received confirmation from the RMA department that it had arrived and they had begun the RMA process. They said it would take 5-7 business days to finish. Today is the 8th business day since they sent their confirmation email. I have tried sending them emails and calling them, but there has been no response. I am hoping that maybe eventually, someday I will hear something from them and get my mobo back.

Other Thoughts: The product is good, but the support is bad. I have had to RMA other products before and the manufacturers are typically very good about letting the customer know about their product's status and progress. And timely as well. I don't mind waiting but if it is going to take 8, 9, 10 business days or more then tell me that so I can plan accordingly. Don't lie to me. I hope this gets resolved quickly, otherwise I won't be purchasing from ASRock again.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard!

Pros: Lots of features that work

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace an old AMD Socket A setup that died and didn't do a lot of investigating prior to purchase. Got lucky with this choice - put everything together, fired it up, and off it went. I'm using an AMD Athlon II 260 as a CPU, not overclocked, which works out very nicely for everything I run. The only problem I had with startup was getting used to the UEFI bios, which is somewhat different from what I've used before, but once I got it figured out, setting it up went very well. Actually, it works out kind of nice, since you can choose your boot drive off a menu rather that banging on the F8 key like you had to with earlier bioses. Asrock provides a pretty comprehensive booklet to help out with the other details. Would definitely recommend this m'bo to anybody, and will certainly do this again.

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Sexy looking.
Ready for AM3+ cpus.
3way PCIEx16 slots.
2600 mhz Hyper Transport.
USB 3.0 support.
Little Northbridge fan.
Crossfire X so you can have a HD6870 with an HD6850, cool stuff.

Cons: no onboard video support. when you get this mobo, make sure to have a video in hand, you'll Need it.

Other Thoughts: Not much of an overclocker, can't comment because I could care less to push my components over stock (which is good enough). I went with ASROCK because I have another ASROCK mobo (n68csucc) that has been going for over 1 1/2 yrs, I only hope ASROCK support is good, or that this mobo NEVER dies.
PC Specs:
AMD 960T (not unlocked)
Corsair H60 (in a push/pull)
XFX HD6870
Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) KHX1600C9D3K2/8G
WD Caviar Blue 320gb

5 out of 5 eggsVery Satisfied

Pros: Socket AM3+ (also compatible with AM3 processors)
3-pin and 4-pin CPU fan headers (I'm running 2 fans off of the 4-pin header without issue)
3 chassis fan headers
1 power fan header
Floppy header
IDE header
4 USB 3.0 (2X front header + 2X back)
2 USB 2.0 headers (2X each for a total of 4)
8 SATA 6Gb/s headers
Graphical UEFI BIOS Interface
XFast USB Technology provides faster transfer rates
Power and reset buttons
Posts incredibly fast; UEFI screen appears almost instantly after hitting Del key
Great overclock options
Turbo UCC technology to unlock CPU cores
Plenty of distance between CPU socket and RAM sockets to allow for larger aftermarket heatsinks with 120mm fans.
Coolest running Northbridge heatsink I’ve used in a very long time. Most you can't hold your finder on for more than a short while but this one stays nice and cool.

Cons: The one I got needed a BIOS update to run FX series processors. I easily updated mine from v1.4 to v1.6 and then later to v 1.8 without any problems while using the Windows utility available on the ASRock website.

Not a CON, but for those interested here's my hardware:
Corsair 600T
ASRock 890FX Deluxe 5
AMD 1090T
Antec KÜHLER 620
2 – COUGAR CF-V12HP Vortex (in push/pull on KÜHLER 620)
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series (4 x 4GB) DDR3 Model F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL
MSI N460GTX Twin Frozr II Video Card
Crucial M4 128 GB (System)
2 – Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 - 0F10383 1TB drives (1 data & 1 backup)
2 – DVD read/write drives
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Other Thoughts: Since there isn’t much difference between the 890FX and 990FX motherboards I decided to go with this one. I wanted something that could handle my 1090T, as well as AM3+ CPUs.

I’ve been running this board for four months without any problems. I tried a FX-4100 that I put into another build just to see how it would work and it had no problems. (Overclocked it to 4.4 stable before switching back to 1090T.)

For those complaining about this board freezing up, mine only did it when I pushed the overclock too high on the 1090T. I would also get numerous BSOD errors, but backing off a bit on the overclock resolved both issues.

Mosfet cooler does not interfere with the KÜHLER 620 radiator I'm using in a push/pull configuration with 2 fans inside a Corsair 600T case.

Works with G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series (4 x 4GB) DDR3 Model F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL and G.SKILL Sniper (4 x 4GB) DDR3 Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR.

2 out of 5 eggsVery Poor Raid Options

Pros: Reliable and great looking board so far. I have it running almost a year now. Performance is way lower in comparison to my Asus Crosshair Formula II. Due to slow Raid-0 performance. I am afraid of their newer 990FX boards due to the same problem

Cons: I am giving only 2 eggs as it has a very poor Raid options set up. NO! 16kb blocksize settings available! Only 64kb and 128kb for raid-0 set up. The standard options were always choices of 8kb, 16kb, 32kb, 64kb, 128, BLOCK SIZE settings for configuring Raid-0 performance I contacted AsRock support to no avail with a bios update or help to get those needed options. W.D. veloci's are capable of 300mbs rates x4 Raid-0 and are bottlenecked with their poor raid options to only 220mbs. My Crosshair II runs at 322mbs in raid-0 and out performs this 890fx board in all areas with the same exact W.D. Drives.

Other Thoughts: I want to buy more of the Asrock boards in the future but no, if they do not fix the Raid Performance. If I get it fixed by Asrock tech support with a newer bios, I will raise the eggs to 5. Boot up is slower due to the 64kb settings.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal

Pros: Great hardware for the price point. Has all the new bells and whistles as well as the IDE port I was looking for. Worked right first time booting and hasn't caused any issues yet. I like the OC BIOS. I don't typically OC, but I had to try it, and it worked well with the stock cooler.

Cons: Whilst the manual is large, it could use more explanation on some of the features

Other Thoughts: I really like this motherboard. I upgraded from a Gigabyte that i really liked and was skeptical of the ASRock brand, but I must say, Bravo to ASRock.

5 out of 5 eggsExtremely Happy!!! after 6 months.

Pros: Only one to have everything i needed as far as now and future upgrades. plenty of fan headers, old ide port for my dvd drive, cooling fan for Northbridge heatsink, easy bios, plenty pci-e slots. it jumped my ram wei up a couple notches 7.1 to 7.6 Works like a charm! did i mention the amount of fan headers?.........

Cons: packaging......could have been better like putting the motherboard in static sleeve or bubble wrap. even though mine came in perfect condition. 990 fx came out shortly after i bought it. the northbridge cooling fan could have been positioned better for those who want to run the corsair water cooling in push/pull config. it is a very tight fit and the small fan is covered half way but does not hinder rotation of the fan. the northbridge heatsink could have been made a little bit shorter and wider to compinsate for the water cooling. nothing to remove any eggs from it though.

Other Thoughts: This was my first motherboard purchase since i switched from Mac world. this replaced an msi 785GM-E65 board. I was very scepticle about changing due to inexpirenceand info i got from friends about brand. only had 17 reviews at the time but wanted to replace for upcoming bulldozer. took my 1100t without a hitch although it does warm up (40 C)during heavy gaming but with speed and power comes heat. 34 C idle fans all on high except graphics. i like to keep everything cool sub 50 C ambient temp 75degress F (24 C) Running this mb, phenom II x6 1100t, 8 gigs 1333 corsair xms3, bfg 550 watt, Sapphire 2GB 6950

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This mobo is the bees knees enough said! I took a punt on this one as it was a AM3/AM3+ mobo and i could pop an octo core into it later, as well as it being at a good price at the time, and im glad i did! Setup was a breeze! Easiest mobo i have EVER had the pleasure of working with! :)

Cons: None so far..came in with a dent in the box and 1 of the audio pins bent a lil bit, but carefully bent it back into place.

Other Thoughts: If you've never heard of ASRock, dont let that scare you off. This is an up and coming company and they have delivered a hell uva product with this one! Will fit any AM3/AM3+ CPU and my 1100T works a charm.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Board!!!

Pros: Tons of fan headers, PWM on many of them. Great BIOS. Easily overclocks my 955BE to 4.2gig. Love the way this board is laid out. Rock solid performance thus far. Boots quickly. No BSODs thus far. Awesome fan tuning features provided PWM fans are used where possible. My machine is dead silent unless under a solid load.

Cons: Absolutely none thus far.

Other Thoughts: I purchased from a competitor for pricing and shipping reasons, but always use Newegg when I can.
