1 out of 5 eggsBelieve the negative reviews...

Pros: None since you can't get it to work right.

Cons: Unfortunately the negative reviews are true for this product. Their manual from Asrock's website states that you can manually change the memory frequency in the bios, but you can't. The option is there for you to change it, but it's grayed out. Contacted their support and they said nope you can't change it. This is not a good way to do business and a great way to lose customers like me. Also they use jumpers on the motherboard to change frequencies. I haven't used jumpers since 1999. This is the second time I've had issues with Asrock motherboards. I would recommend staying away from this company. I will be in the future!

5 out of 5 eggsamendment to my previous review - network connection works great now

Pros: Good support from AsRock saved the day! The board initially was giving me problems with the onboard net connection cutting out intermittently. But, as the AsRock rep responded to my previous review, a new driver was available. It's been smooth sailing after I upgraded to the new driver!

Cons: Would have been nice if the board worked out of the box. But all's well that ends well, I suppose.

3 out of 5 eggsnot the greatest

Pros: - the RMA replacment worked for a few years
- the box looks pretty and they have a cool name that "rocks"
- the price was reasonable
- when they arrive DOA you have a spare board after buying a second one and the RMA finally arrives.
- keyboards and mice now have usb plugs so when the legacy onboard ones fail, you can buy a new keyboard with usb plug and still get a few more months use out of this motherboard

Cons: - first one was DOA so ordered a second board, couldn't wait for RMA process so I had a second board I didn't need after paying for both.
- they arrive DOA or fail sooner than expected

Other Thoughts: Time to use that second 'spare' board now, wonder if it will be dead also since it hasn't been tested and I got it as an RMA for the first DOA board a few years ago.

4 out of 5 eggsgood for what I bought it for

Pros: cheap, allowed me to keep a cpu going, using it with 10TB of drives in linux. seems to work fine, I'm not doing any overclocking or anything.

Cons: only 2 ram slots

3 out of 5 eggsMUST READ

Pros: I'm a computer tech, Where do i start with this motherboard?
This motherboard have jumpers for the CPU Speed, Ram, Audio, Lan, FSB, Etc.
Motherboard used to have jumper on them 15-20 years ago.
Motherboard jumpers wasn't set right.
Causing the motherboard not to post.
This is also a motherboard with PCIE
Older one have AGP
This is a 2 second edition too.

Cons: Motherboard did work, but next time i get a real company

Other Thoughts: Buy a real company know what their are doin'
Gigabyte, Msi, Asus

This motherboard doesn't even have speakers on it
I work on hundreds motherboards all have speakers.
Didn't even came with speakers in the box.
Why this have jumpers and no speakers?

NEVER AGAIN WITH ASROCK PRODUCT

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. For the chassis speaker, unfortunately, mainboard does not provide but it's usually come with computer case.
For the mainboard issue, please trouble shooting the mainboard for below steps with known good components;
Remove the mainboard from inside computer to outside. Place the mainboard on top of the empty mainboard’s box
Clear the CMOS
Check the mainboard’s CPU socket pins should not be bent
Reseat the CPU with heatsink fan as well if socket pins are normal
Test with 1 memory module (non-ECC, un-buffered), try with another known good memory if its same issue.
Using onboard Video
Power supply with connecting 24 pins + 4 pins ATX power to the mainboard
Plug the computer case’s power switch to mainboard's front panel power header and try again

4 out of 5 eggsGets it done

Pros: Worked out of the box with no fuss. Needed a replacement for an old overclocked Q6600 system. Documentation, drivers and utilities are all great. Easy to overclock from 2.4 to 3.0.

Cons: Really can't think of anything. Like any motherboard you have to take your build design into careful consideration. In this case the positioning of the CPU power connector almost interfered with my large heatsink but I made it work.

1 out of 5 eggsBad MB? Not Win7 ready!

Pros: It worked right out of the box. At least, at first.

Cons: It says it is Windows 7 ready and compatible. It is NOT. The included driver disk only contained chipset/lan/audio/vga drivers for Windows XP and Vista, but not Windows 7. Those you have to get off their website. While I was getting ready to install these drivers, the desktop started getting video artifact and I got a BSOD. I was unable to get Windows 7 up again, even in safe mode. It would just go straight to BSOD. I was able to capture a STOP code of 0x4c at one attempt, which indicated a fatal hard error driver problem. After several attempts at this, now the MB won't even get to POST. Nothing...zip. It powers up and the fans come on, but it doesn't even give a bootup single beep tone and the screen is blank.

Other Thoughts: I'm a well established and long-time OEM builder (+20 years). This build was for a client. I did a complete compatibility check for RAM and CPU. I was using onboard video until I could get the OS installed and the MB drivers updated. The MB crashed while doing this. I was able to get this build up and running with another MB (different brand) I had in stock. Because it's just past Newegg's 30 day return policy (of course), I have to go to Asrock for a replacement. I'm not real confident in the quality of the replacement.
I do wish to say that Newegg has done it's part and delivered the product as ordered (in fact, it actually arrived a day early!). I went over the 30 day return policy due to being overwhelmed with orders on my end of the business and unable to address the problems I had with this product in a timely fashion. I still love Newegg, you guys rock!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize that you having difficulty with mainboard.
BSOD usually related to memory, please set the BIOS default.
Test with 1 stick memory, try with another known good memory if it's same issue.
For the Windows 7 drivers, please visit and download at link " http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/G31M-GS%20R2.0/?cat=Download".

5 out of 5 eggsWorked right out of the box.

Pros: Simple board to install. No bells or whistles but I didn't need them. I just wanted to use some of the parts I had about without spending a ton of money. I added an SSD and boot time is about 20 seconds.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsPS2/USB ports DOA

Pros: It posted

Cons: If you dont plan on using USBs or PS2 and somehow can operate the computer through mind control then it would be great.

1.) PS2 ports were dead out of box
2.) USBs worked for all of about 2 seconds before they crashed out and wouldnt work at all for several hours of powering down

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this brand they are junk!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please turn the power off, clear the CMOS.
Try with another known good PS2 keyboard, directly plugged to the port if using adaptor or switch.
If you have any technical questions please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We can assist you shortly.
