Probably not. I tried using ECC ram that wasn't on the approved list and it wouldn't work. I would recommend going to ASRock Rack and picking from one of the tested memory options.

Okay, so someone already asked about ECC memory, but I'm curious about ECC memory with a Core (instead of Xeon) processor. ASRock says this 'board supports quite a few different Haswell Core processors (Celeron thru i7) - do those processors work with ECC memory?  Also, ASRock currently does list exactly one non-ECC memory option (Apacer 78.B1GG2.4000C), so if I get a non-Xeon processor is that my only "approved" choice for memory? Thanks!

You would have to check with the specific processor to see if it supports ECC Memory and to verify that the processor you want to acquire is compatible with this motherboard (the AsRock website for this products has the spec sheet). Most (if not all) Core processors do not support ECC memory, so if you want ECC memory you are most likely to need a Xeon processor. And yes the list for supported memory for this motherboard is quite small, and in my experience this motherboard is quite picky on it's RAM, so take it into consideration if you choose to try a different memory option.

What BIOS Version is the board being shipped with? In other words, is the current revision at shipment supporting the Haswell-R cores at BIOS 2.10 or higher?

I bought this 2 weeks ago and installed an Intel Xeon E3-1231V3 Haswell and 16GB of ECC ram. It all worked fine right out of the box.

At one point, I was trying to figure out some SATA problems I was having (turned out to be software related) and went on their website to look for a BIOS upgrade. My board was already on the newest rev firmware according to their site.

ASRock's memory compatibility list only includes memory modules that are 8 GB and smaller. Have you tried any larger modules that you've confirmed work with this motherboard? I want to buy 16 GB sticks.

Since it's a LGA 1150, max memory supported per bank it's 8GB, any larger than this won't work.

If I use only the top PCIE 3.0 x16 slot and none of the others PCIE 3.0 slots, will it run at x16? Or still only x8?

Not sure how to answer this question. You have 3 PCIe 3.0 x16 slots. If your card requires an x16 slot, then it will work at x16 speeds. If you place it in a x8 slot, then the speeds will only be at x8.
