4 out of 5 eggsExcellent value

Pros: Very good entry level motherboard. Has good features at a decent price.

Cons: The motherboard flexes to much could be thicker. The only other con is no hdmi but I plan on buying a video card.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate-Running Smooth

Pros: Still running smooth since 1 month ago.

Cons: no cons

Other Thoughts: I just wanted to update my review because I wrote one a few days after I installed the motherboard. Now it has been more than a month and the board is running just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent board

Pros: I only by ASRock motherboards, the last five motherboards I bought in the last three years have all been ASRock and I haven't had any issues with any of them.

Cons: None, ASRock for the WIN!

1 out of 5 eggsnot happy

Pros: if it worked, it would've been a fairly good price and good features for my intended build.

Cons: not a good quality motherboard, too thin, when building the pc, i felt like i damaged the board from all the noises it made as if it would it just break apart ( thats probably one of the reasons to why i couldnt get it to work, the board being inflexible to work with ), and apparently it has other problems which i believe to be true, the pci express x1 lane does not work ( so if you installed something there in the first place, which i did, then it fries the motherboard which i believe is what happened to me and why i was unable to get the pc to work properly, the 24 pin motherboard connector port does not seem to get full electrical contact, thus not allowing the pc to get proper power / and probably explains why i was unable to power the pc for more than a minute or two, and why it was constantly power cycling, on, off, on, off. sometimes a few seconds, sometimes a lot more, someone else had this same problem with the same psu i have, the corsair cx430 and on one of asrock's motherboards too, so i dont think this is a coincidence.

Other Thoughts: i dont have the time, money or energy to take the computer to a service technician to diagnose whats wrong, i would probably get hundreds of dollars charged / possibly wasted time as well, so im just gonna take the chance and order a new different motherboard and see if the problem was exactly the motherboard as all other parts are brand new in my build, and from troubleshooting and reading online, it would seem that the motherboard would probably be the closest thing to look at.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
For the power cycling issue, please turn the power off, clear the CMOS.
Reseat the CPU and cooler.
Test with single memory module on each slot ony by one.
If you have any technical issues please contact us at We will assist you shortly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsDefinitely consider this board.

Pros: Great price for solid board! I have a 5.1 speaker setup and the onboard sound output from this board was surprisingly robust.

Cons: NOTE: Apparently no Vista drivers available on ASRocks website. This is a Win7/8.x board. There are no other cons if you know what you are looking for.

Other Thoughts: CPU: Pentium dual-core G3220
1x 4GB stick of Muskin 1333
WD HD 7200 250GB 16mb cache, 6gb/transfer reburbished - dirt cheap (running just fine)
VGA 6670 HD dedicated.

This was a significant boost in performance over my 6 year old e8400 build. If you don't need heavy gameability or HDMI then I encourage you to consider this board.

On another system I went to ASRock's site and downloaded chipset, LAN, and sound drivers onto a USB drive. Everything installed just fine.

Running smoothly right now for the last 48 hours. Dropped a 6670 HD into it with a G3220 Pentium Dual-core. I can play Skyrim on medium to high graphics no problem, but I didn't really get it for gaming. Needed a good current generation system to dual-boot Linux and Win7 to learn some programming.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked good for 2 weeks

Pros: Cheap, new socket. That's about it though.

Cons: Well, it worked well for 2 weeks, then the sound started cutting out. Now, I'm probably going to have to return this and get another one shipped out, all the while I'm going to be without music games or youtube as my old computer is already in a landfill somewhere.

I'd say avoid this and spend 4 more dollars and get the MSI motherboard that comes with a newer audio chipset, ASROCK? More like AS-SILENT. Now when I get a new one that lasts longer than 2 weeks, I might consider changng this to a 3 star review, but for now, my verdict is avoid the headache and go with a better brand.

The worst part of all of this, I spent 25 dollars having this shipped to me in 2 days, and I bet newegg doesn't reship the replacement that fast..

Other Thoughts: See what I get for being such a cheapskate? 4 dollars more and I could have had a MSI or ASUS motherboard...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

Sorry to hear that the mainboard sound has malfunctioned which’s due to nature of electronic product, it can happen.
Please uninstall the audio driver, download and install the driver at link "".
Check the playback is set to appropriate device at Control Panel, Sound.
Check the volume control is not mute.
Test with another speaker.
If you have any technical issues or warranty questions please contact our Tech Support at We can assist you shortly.

Thank you

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Booted right up with no problems
-Looks decent
-UEFI bios
-Price is right
-Honestly, how many average people use more than two expansion slots?

Cons: -Not a lot of extra features, but this is understandable for a $50 board.
-The build quality seems fine, but the PCB is VERY thin and it definitely flexes when installing the stock heatsink. I'm not sure if I'd trust this board with a very heavy heatsink.

Other Thoughts: This is a very barebones motherboard, and if you use it for the wrong purpose, you're going to end up disappointed. This board is meant for very simple systems that don't need tons of SATA ports or expansion slots.

Even without tons of extra features, this board is still very upgradeable in that it supports all the latest standards (SATA 3, USB 3, etc).
