2 out of 5 eggsBad PCIE Slot

Pros: Onboard video works
decent onboard audio
DTS digital surround output
Included Wifi/Bluetooth Card
6 Sata ports

Cons: PCIE slot was faulty since the begining and finally stopped working, meaning my Video card is no longer detected. I had random blackouts from my video card, but my video card still works with 2 other computers I have. So if you have random blackouts from your PCIE video card, RMA as soon as possible. I can not recommend this board as it has video/PCIE problems.

Other Thoughts: I guess I will be going back to the Gigabyte boards...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

Sorry for the issue with PCIE slot onboard.
Please turn the power off, clear the CMOS.
Reseat the VGA card firmly and PCIE power (if applied).

If problem still persist, please contact us at We will assist you shortly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsSupports Latest AMD A-Series

Pros: Boots and works great. It has all of the features you could want in a mini-itx board. USB 3.0 headers for front panel, 6 sata ports, and most importantly it is compatible with what it says.

Works perfectly with the AMD A10-7850K.

Cons: I bought a Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN, before this board. Although the Gigabyte board said that it supported AMD A-series APUs...The board would never post. Gigabyte support said, that I needed an "older" CPU to update the bios of the Gigabyte board...Lame...I don't have another AMD CPU. Gigabyte totally wasted my money.

Other Thoughts: This board has made me a Fan of AsRock. I'll never buy another gigabyte product.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: As others already said, board is great when it works with your CPU. That is the 6 PC I'm building using that board. So far they all have been flawless. But of course the boards always ships with an old BIOS that didn't support my CPU an Athlon II X4-860K.

Cons: So after spending a couple of hour putting my custom build together turns out that the CPU is not supported by the shipped BIOS. So I had to spend another hour to take everything apart, remove the Noctua NH-L9a cooler, install an older APU (A6-5400) to upgrade the BIOS first. All in all it took me 3 times longer to assemble the PC than should have been necessary. And lucky me I had an older APU lying around. What would one do if that was not an option?

Other Thoughts: Asrock, Please ship boards with an updated BIOS or find a way to do this even with a CPU that is not supported.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Due to the mainboard has been released before the CPU (Athlon II x4 860K), BIOS update is needed to support new processor.
We will be more than happy to send the updated BIOS chip.

4 out of 5 eggsLovely motherboard.

Pros: Seems at the peak for a mini itx as it can run/hold everything I could need.

Affordably priced.
Love the wireless.
A lot of USB's.
Almost everything built in.

Cons: The specifications/description threw me off at time of purchase I had somehow thought it had a 2gb onboard graphics built in, but must've misread. I knock of an egg because I built my whole pc around this board, and it has forced me to spend quite a bit more $ then I would have on a Micro Atx build I would've done instead.

Something also seems off when plugging front panel functions into the motherboard as their not quite working I'll get it eventually though may be case related.

Other Thoughts: Now I know it's only with certain processors, to bad I already bought a Athlon 760k, and can't return it. So I had to go ahead, and grab a Athlon x4 860k as well, and a decent graphics card to go with it which bumped the price up quite a bit on original build. If I would've just went with a A10-7850k from start none of my problems would've happened oh well maybe it'll be better in long run.

4 out of 5 eggsIf I fits, I sits.

Pros: Fit nicely as expected.

Cons: Rear I/O was about 3mm back further than it should have been which causes the ports to be sunken in about that far. All the ports work fine but I would expect a Motherboard in this price range to sit right up against it. Perhaps it's caused by the case, but I'm unsure.

2 out of 5 eggsWas great while it lasted.

Pros: Fits great in small builds and worked great for my compact gaming rig for almost 2 months.

Cons: Turns out that the a88 chips gets entirely blocked from direct airflow when you install a GPU in my Thermaltake Core V1. With the GPU installed this board became increasingly unstable over the last few days. I was blaming these crashes on the new Battlefield Beta, I was wrong. Getting in touch with Newegg on Monday to see what I am covered for.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please download and update the BIOS at link below.
Load the BIOS default.
Allow better air circulation inside the chassis and VRM area.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great for FreeNAS

Pros: Nice, tight board, 6 SATA 3 ports, good networking chipset, attention to detail in board, manual, firmware is obvious.

Cons: 2 more memory slots would be welcome.

Other Thoughts: I put this together with a Lian-Li PC-Q25, and 5 disks in a ZFS3 array with 16GB of memory and FreeNAS, and it "just works". Due to the other reviews, I made certain to use memory and a processor that was supported, but for what I'm using this board for, it seems like an elegant solution. I was impressed with the level of detail that seems to have been paid to this board in it's documentation set and the way the board is laid out and marked. I would buy another ASROCK board based on my experience with this motherboard.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Mini ITX board

Pros: 4 USB 2.0 ports
3 USB 3.0 ports
Abundance of features
Easy to use UEFI bios
Ability to Install drivers from bios using ethernet

Cons: HD Audio header is in a bad spot, it's right behind the PCI express slot so if you put your graphics card in it won't fit with a thick HD audio header cable
IO plate feels flimsy and cheap
In order to remove the stock cpu cooler brackets you have to squeeze the clips hard dangerously underneath the board with needle nose pliers

Other Thoughts: This is a great mini itx board, I chose it after my Gigabyte board failed to post after building my first mini ITX build. It sits within a cooler master elite 110 chassis, running 8 GB of RAM, AMD Athlon X4 860k FM2+ and Sapphire Radeon R7 260X Overclock edition. It is a perfect low profile fit over the gigabyte board in the cooler master case. Also the UEFI easily has several configurable features like overclocking and fan trims etc. Although it's not 100% perfect. It lacks a high quality io panel for all the ports, in fact something bent blocking the hdmi out plug on the board, but that's no MAJOR issue for me as i use the DVI port on the GPU. Also the hd audio pins/header placement was an oversite, I cannot use HD audio out on my case because any GPU will block access to it or wont fit with a thick cable running to it, however I simply use the DVI or HDMI audio built into my graphics card to counteract this. Finally, the stock cpu cooler brackets aren't attached via screws like on the gigabyte board, they are plastic clipped into the board requiring a high amount of force just to remove them, to install the mounting bracket for my Seidon 120V.

All in all despite the shortcoming I would recommend this board as the issues aren't detrimental and could be easily circumvented

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Decent

Pros: Fantatic BIOS. I may be biased coming from a 2008 gigabyte bios but this was so easy to navigate.

Tiny board to fit in my tiny Thermaltake core v1. Still does everything needed. Handles a gigantic AMD R9 280 like a champ.

Cons: flimsy SATA ports. I was afraid they were going to break.

Annoying front panel HD audio port, right under my gigiantic graphics card, its pushing down on the cables. something to keep in mind.

Poor manual, difficult to read the diagram without a magnifying glass.

Ram slots are finnicky. Only one side has hinged clips, on the left side you'll need to work the ram down in by wiggling it until its down in, and then double/ triple check it because theres no clip to snap it in place, just a plastic "wall"

Other Thoughts: Nothing to really complain about, for 90~$ i wish the sata ports were sturdier.

5 out of 5 eggsMicro build test bed

Pros: Used with AMD A10-6800 with 8GB RAM. Very compact build. Thermal is very cool running with stock AMD blower. Used for 3 months test of Win X with 120Gb SSD. Solid performance with no issues.

Cons: None
