  • newegg High-Density Glass-Fabric PCB What you’ve never understood about your computer is that it is scared to death of water: H2O, humidity, or whatever you’d like to call it. And even though you do not see the water, there may actually be lots of excessive moisture in the air killing your motherboard silently and slowly. No, your motherboard doesn’t melt when in contact with water like the Wicked Witch of the West, but it dies from short circuiting. Luckily, ASRock has a new High-Density Glass-Fabric PCB design that reduces the gaps between the PCB layers to protect the motherboard against electrical shorts caused by humidity.
  • newegg All Solid Capacitor Design ASRock is determined to use high-quality materials to build the best motherboards, that's why all the capacitors on this motherboard are built with 100% solid capacitors. These solid capacitors bring long-lasting durability and ultra-stable performance.
  • newegg X-Boost Brilliantly designed for smart overclocking, ASRock X-Boost Technology is able to unleash the hidden power of your CPUs. Simply press “X” when turning on the PC, X-Boost will automatically overclock the relative components to get a performance boost of up to 15.77%! With the smart X-Boost, overclocking the CPU becomes a nearly one-button process.
  • newegg Easy Driver Installer For users who don’t have an optical disk drive to install the drivers from our support CD, Easy Driver Installer is a handy tool in the UEFI. It installs the LAN driver to your system via a USB storage device, then downloads and installs the other required drivers automatically through the Internet – absolutley no CD or optical disk drive required!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Board So Far

Pros: Fits smaller mATX cases.
Plenty of SATA ports
Recognized RAM immediately
No issue with parts... plugged them in, they worked
USB 3.0

Cons: No optical or surround audio out (hdmi should work though)
Would prefer another 1x PCIe slot instead of a PCI slot...
BIOS isn't the greatest, but works well enough.

1 out of 5 eggsBeware of this one

Pros: The board arrived on time and was appropriately packaged.

Cons: After updating the bios and installing the downloads from the ASrock website, I still had problems with the lan connection. Finally got the lan working but now the HDMI refuses to acknowledge attachment to my Samsung TV. I have reloaded the new drivers from the ASrock website, but that does no good. I have reloaded Win7, no change. I am very familiar with checking the playback devices and making sure they are checked The support for this board is non existent. I have tried many times to email customer support but it is impossible to get an email through. I have an older ASrock board and now that I think of it , I had problems with that board also. Best advice, stay away.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

4 out of 5 eggsGood board, bad beginning

Pros: Very good for overclocking, the UEFI has great features. (I don't really care for the software you install later on)

Cons: After my install of Windows 7 I had to flash the BIOS to 2.10 for the on-board network adapter to appear in Device Manager, or for it to even work for that matter.

Other Thoughts: If you plan on installing an aftermarket cooler on this make sure you check the size. You will not be able to fit one with a decent sized GPU with it.

Pros: Easy install, USB 3.0, good RAM capacity.

Cons: The first one was DOA, the 2nd one had a few problems with the installation.

Other Thoughts: This is an update to my previous rating. The original MB was DOA. I didn't start my build until 31 days after I ordered it. I had to RMA (jump through a lot of hoops) to the manufacturer. When I installed the 2nd board, it initially appeared to be DOA as well, no post, no video.

I checked with a more technically competent friend about the installation. He suggested that instead of just placing the APU in the slot and locking it down, I should place it in the slot, PUSH IT DOWN FIRMLY, and then latch it into place. IT WORKED!!

I installed an A10 Trinity processor and 16 GB of pc 1600 ram. It is working well now. Not a speed demon by any stretch of the imagination (I'm not a gamer), but it appears to be more than adequate for any business or home computing tasks. If it remains stable, I'll update to the latest A10 processor.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat mobo but...

Pros: Connectivity, FM2+ socket, solid caps, nice software add-ons included.

Cons: I paired it with an AMD A10-6800K BE Richland 4.1GHz (4.4GHz) Socket FM2 100W Quad-Core APU. Chose to drop the stock cooler and used a ZALMAN CNPS8900 Quiet. It encroaches over one memory slot and actually touches the memory stick, causing it to overheat and shut down the pc. No dual channel DDR-2133 memory possible here!

Other Thoughts: I wish motherboard manufacturers and aftermarket cpu coolers manufacturers would work together, agree and commit to space/volume specifications to clear all components on a motherboard so they are fully compatible, not just compatible.

Pros: Good size, adequate number of ports, easy install, good price for a new "Bolton" motherboard.

Cons: DOA

Other Thoughts: I purchased this from New Egg approximately 2 months ago. Unfortunately, I didn't get around to assembling the computer until 31 days after purchase.

CPU fan, case, fan, DVD and HD all started. It would not post or show any video. I contacted As Rock support. After disconnecting and re-installing everything, it was determined that the MB was simply dead. They provided an RMA after a few days and I returned the MB.

Yesterday, I received the replacement and re-installed everything. Same problem, fans and drives all appeared to be working, but I could not get any video or get the MB to post. I'm going to get a local experienced tech to check everything out (again) before I quit. If he verifies my findings, I will probably give up and order another brand. The shipping costs to send them back will soon be approaching the cost of the original unit.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Average Builder,

We apologize for any inconvenience it may cause to you.
For this issue, it maybe related to other system configurations.
Please refer to below suggestions to double check your system.
1. Clear CMOS.
2. Re-install CPU and memory module to try.
3. Test the memory module on each DRAM DIMM to verify.
4. Only install the necessary device (CPU, a stick memory module) to check if system boot up.
5. If possible, please change another CPU or memory module to verify.

If you still have any questions, please contact us at
We can assist you shortly.

Thank you for the support!

5 out of 5 eggsAnother good board from ASRock

Pros: Plenty of ports, build quality, solid caps, driver/BIOS support on ASRock website, bundled ASRock software is great, came with 2 SATA cables

Cons: I wish it had a couple more USB 3.0 ports on the rear panel (has 2), but in a Micro ATX form factor I guess that's fine... Has a USB 3.0 header on the board to support additional ports if desired

Other Thoughts: I also own the ASRock FM2-A85X Extreme6, another FM2 board but in full ATX form, and I was VERY impressed with its quality, overclocking ability, and software package. I bought this board for my parents' new computer and I am very pleased with this board as well.
