Q: I am looking to put 32GB of Unbuffered ECC ram in this but I have found none for <$400. What ram is working for you?

I am actually using this mobo with FreeNAS. 16gb of Kingston Ram ( http://m.newegg.com/Product?itemNumber=N82E16820139979 ). I have two additional slots for another pair when it becomes reasonable :)

Q: Has anyone successfully installed 64GB of RAM? What are you using? ASRock website only states Memphis memory? No clue where to find it.

Q: just received the board. the box is not manufacturer sealed, it just doesn't have any label or sealed tape. The static bag is same way, looks like it was never sealed too, didn't find any dry/moisture pack inside. None of the parts are missing. Is that the was this board supposed to be shipped? Or i just got an open item. People who already bought please advise, thank you

My boards box wasn't sealed, but was of interest was his the board was packet in the box. The boards has a anti static foam surround that it was zip tied to. Think of it as a square bowl with a whole in the centre of the bottom. Best board packing job I've seen from an OEM.

Q: Wasn't there an 8 core version of this board at one time?

It seems that Newegg may have messed up the description. The ASRock C2750D4I does have an Octa-Core processor. The quad core version is C2550D4I.

Q: Does this board support RAID 5 or does it require a separate raid controller?

Does not support RAID 5. There are three SATA controllers managing the 12 ports: Intel: 4x6Gbps, 2x 3Gbps, no RAID Marvell SE9230: 4x 6Gbps, RAID 1,0,10 Marvell SE9172: 2x 6Gbps, RAID 1,0 RAID isn't advisable at modern drive capacities. Look into error correcting FileSystems like ZFS or NAS appliances like Synology if you're concerned about data integrity.

Q: Does anyone know if this board supports registered memory?

I don't believe so. I think it is only unbuffered ECC memory. I have not done much research though, but I would be surprised if it did. I know unbuffered works because that is what I am using with it.

Q: What operating temperatures are you getting when this board is under load? I am getting a CPU temperature of 46C with a MB temperature of 56C. This seems high for such a low power system.

I have mine in a Silverstone DS380 with just the fans that come with it. Mine is idling at 40 MB and 38 CPU right now. At 100% CPU on all eight cores I hit 46 MB and 54 CPU. You may need to consider how much air flow you have running through your case.

Q: The SATA ports seem pretty close. Do you have to be careful with cable connector sizes? Any that you know will fit in adjacent ports without issue?

These are the cables that I use/d for this board. Relper-Lineso 6 Pack 90 Degree Right-Angle SATA III Cable 6.0 Gbps With Locking Latch 18Inch (6x Sata Cable Blue) They clipped in fairly easily, and fairly easy to disconnect as well.

Based on my testing with this board it works great as a Plex server for 1 or 2 transcoding streams but beyond that the CPU can't really keep up. Great board for a general purpose NAS though!
