1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Good features at a good price.

Cons: Dead on arrival

Other Thoughts: If it's dead on arrival the board is useless, which negates all the pros. Had the extended replacement warranty, but newegg refunded that instead of replacing the board (it's out of stock, so they can't replace), so I bought another board that says it uses the same components that I was going to use, of course anytime you do that you are more restricted than when you are buying everything so it fits together, which means you pay more.

Since the motherboard is the central part that everything plugs into, reliability is pretty important. Reliability is hard due to how many parts are assembled to make the board, so a fair amount of leeway is warranted. That being said, this is the second board from ASROCK that I have gotten in the past 6 months, and both were DoA. That's either poor luck or poor reliability, in either case my experience with this board was poor, so I can't give a higher score.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear James,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.
• Unplug the ATX power, remove all components from mainboard.
• Remove the mainboard from chassis, place it on mainboard’s box.
• Clear the CMOS.
• Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan.
• Test with single memory module.
• Test with onboard video (CPU with integrated video or test with VGA card).
• Connect the monitor.
• Plug the 24 + 8 or 4 pins ATX power.
• Connect the chassis power switch to mainboard.
• Turn on the power to check if its post.

3 out of 5 eggsAcceptable. IMPORTANT READ

Pros: Lots of pci-e slots
stable power via pci-e molex power header
Great bios
Crossfire ( also see cons)
Lots of fan headers.

Cons: Only has SATA 2 (3.0 Gigabits per second)
No USB 3
When crossfiring 2 dual slot graphics cards, it doesnt fit into a standard ATX case with 7 expansion slots, you need at least 8 or more.
Older, Slower, Less compatible Bolton D2 chipset northbridge.

Other Thoughts: It was extremely disappointing to find that my crossfire system would not fit into a 7 slot normal ATX case because of the motherboard layout. Now I cant return it. I like Asrock, but this ticks me off. I bought a antec sonata 3 500 case that costs 150$ for this pc, and it didn't even fit, It realy annoys me that I can't return the case or the motherboard though. I realize that normal people aren't going to crossfire, but if you have a crossfire capable motherboard, and you can obviously assume that the cards will be dual slot, and you are going to market it as a standard ATX case, tell people they will need an 8+ expansion slot case, because any other standard ATX motherboard won't need it! Now Im stuck with a 100+ dollar pitfall, and I can't even use my second graphics card.
This problem needs to be rectified, at least market it as needing 8 slots.

I don't have a job yet , and that was over a years worth of savings.
So now i am down over 100$ with no way of getting it back.
It's great if yo're not going to crossfire though!

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: Could never find out.

Cons: I'm on my 3rd one. First one arrived DOA, RMA. Second one arrived with no screws or mounting screws so I could not install it, RMA. Third one just arrived, again with no screws or mounting screws, I don't know what's going on here but this is complete garbage. I will be RMA'ing this one and getting a new MOBO because they can't get it right.

Other Thoughts: My Intel ASRock mobo works great and came with all the parts needed, IDK what their deal is with this one.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Unfortunately, mainboard does not provide the screws. However, it should be provided by computer case.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Lots of slots, great bios.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: For the price this is an awesome board, the bios is very nice and very tweakable. I would certainly consider buying another one.

4 out of 5 eggsO.K. board, needs USB 3.0

Pros: Low cost, holds plenty of memory, does 99% of what I want it to. I bought it to upgrade a friend who was SEVERELY outdated from six years ago.

Cons: This is my fault for not reading everything and assuming that ALL modern boards would have USB 3.0. I now have two ports that I will have to custom switch out from my friends tower from 3.0 to 2.0 just so he can have USB on the front. Those will come from his six year old tower.
