5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Board

Pros: Great color scheme and extremely easy over clocking setup. This board is very approachable from new over clockers to experienced ones. Got my 4790k to 5.0ghz with no problems at all!

Cons: A couple of the fan headers and the audio plug in are in a weird location making it a little more difficult to have a completely clean and hidden wire build. Also why do motherboard manufacturers never point the front USB 3.0 headers in the outward direction so its easier to plug that connector? Not enough to dock an egg though.

Other Thoughts: Solid board for a solid price. This is my first time trying ASRock and I must say it has been a very good experience so far!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat micro atx motherboard

Pros: future upgradeability, z97 chipset with 8 phase power delivery, support for crossfire and sli configurations, many fan headers, killer lan, uefi is much easier to use than the one on my 990fx extreme 3, the motherboard layout and colors are pleasing, cheap

Cons: there isn't realy any this is a really cheap feature rich motherboard money can buy at this time

Other Thoughts: building my first intel nvidia computer and didn't want to spend to much money on it and ended up getting this board for a much more compact build than a full tower i have with my amd computer.

1 out of 5 eggsDumbfounded

Pros: board looks nice.

Cons: So i have had this board for a month and i have already replaced the board and gotten brand new memory, only to find out that the bios wasnt updated to support devils canyon.
I bought this board in August and i get the original bios chip that doesnt support devils canyon, are you kidding me.

Other Thoughts: Why does a board purchased in august have the same bios from when z97 launched in may, there were TWO bios updates which both supported devils canyon, and both were released well before i purchased this board. Not okay

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Mainboard supports Haswell-R (devil's canyon) out of the box and it's would POST with first released BIOS.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Quality

Pros: Lots of ports.
Good quality!

Cons: its M-ATX , and you can't really use CF or SLI because if you plug another graphic , it will block all the ports on the bottom.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: got this board for my new build. first time building my own PC and this mobo was easy to work with. the UEFI is really nice too. everything was easy to figure out and it works like a charm!

Cons: would prefer a full size ATX board but this came as a combo discount with the i7 i bought. but this is still a great board!

5 out of 5 eggsA quality, feature rich board

Pros: This is a replacement for an older ASRock Sandy Bridge board that served me faithfully running mostly 24/7 for 3 years or thereabout. I bought it as part of a combo with a 4 GHz Haswell i7 that was offered at a huge $75 discount at the time. The item arrived very quickly, well before the nominal shipping time I selected. The build quality appears to be high, on par with what you get with the best from Asus or MSI.

Setup programs on modern system boards are OSs in themselves, and this one is no exception. I prefer simpler old style BIOS interfaces, but their days are now gone. This one has more overclocking functions for every bus and peripheral component than a sane person would ever need. I usually leave these alone, except raise the turbo speeds so sensible values. A neat feature of the setup program is a screen with a graphic representation of the board identifying every on-board and plugged in component.

Time will tell if this board is as reliable as my old one. If this one locks up on me once in the next 3 years, I will be disappointed.

Cons: I wished the board had two ethernet ports instead of one. Unfortunately, it appears than no other board in this form factor has this feature. I also prefer vertically oriented SATA ports to horizontal ones like this board has because they don't increase the board's footprint, which could make a difference for very small enclosures. None of these issues are serious enough to prevent me from recommending this product.

Other Thoughts: Over the years, I went through a dozen system boards, so the novelty of having a new one wears off quickly. You put the system together, run the setup program, install the OS if needed (I run Fedora 20), and that's all there is to it. I rarely if ever found a particular choice of motherboard a factor in my computing experience. Having said that, you at least could not go wrong by buying this one.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Motherboard for the money period

Pros: this board has everything you need to over clock devils canyon. The Uefi is the best I ever used. the built in presets is a big plus especially if you are new to over clocking like my self. the presets make as simple as picking the frequency you want your processor to run simple as that. The sound quality is much improved compared main stream boards from Asus and Gigabyte and considering it was cheaper than both competing brands the board is a steal

Cons: The only problem i have is the boards drivers have not been updated since April of 2014 but everything runs quite smoothly.

Other Thoughts: AsRock knocked it out of the park with this board. it competes with 200 dollars "gaming" series boards from Asus and other major brands and still keeps the price tag low. This board is definitely worth more than every penny and is defienetly worth considering for your next build

5 out of 5 eggsGood features for the price

Pros: This motherboard is set apart from other items in the same price range due to having a very substantial 8-phase power setup to the CPU.

At this price it also shares in features that every other manufacturer would include in a modern higher end motherboard. This would include a good audio chip, number of ports, bios options with monitoring software, and a good Ethernet solution.

The layout of the motherboard itself seems exceptionally nice; I especially liked the number and locations of the fan headers on this board. Even in a not over-board system, it is nice to have a convenient place to plug things in. And if you do want a bit of craziness there are two CPU fan headers.

Cons: With windows 8.1 drivers are required to have functional networking (the ones that came on the CD were up to date though).

8-phase power delivery is somewhat unnecessary due to Haswell's efficiency. While it is very robust, for most people (including myself) it only maybe gives the motherboard VRMs a lower operating temperature.

Display port would be nicer to have. Not important if you are using a discrete card, but I would definitely want a display port option if I were not planning to use a dedicated GPU.

Other Thoughts: This board has run very well for my system, although I cannot say it is being pushed (beyond XMP memory speeds). The software that comes with the motherboard is actually really nice, and on a feature basis it really does seem better than many other options.

I think ASROCK is trying to make up for being a slightly less famous brand by offering a better price on a higher end feature set. This has been the most pleasant board I have ever built with (the user manual memory section is better than most DDR3 datasheets even).
