1 out of 5 eggsNo SATA cables included

Pros: Board looks good, but I can't do anything with it, so for all purposes it is a rock.

Cons: The newegg description for this MB says 2 SATA cables included. When I received the MB there are no SATA cables and the manual says "2 SATA cables (optional)". I guess newegg and ASRock have a little difference of opinion on whether or not SATA cables are included. Good going guys.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you
Unfortunately, SATA cables are not included with package.

4 out of 5 eggsNeeds work on OC Capablility

Pros: Quality motherboard, was easy to build, fits nicely in my Bitfenix Prodigy Case. Additional Wifi card included with the Motherboard is a bonus over the competition at the price. UEFI interface is very clean. Was easy to add a full sized video card as well as an aftermarket tower cooler on the CPU (Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO) without too much trouble. This board supports NON-Z OC for k-series CPUs even though not explicitly described on Mfr website. Managed to achieve 4.2Ghz on Pentium G3258 with relative ease using ASRock A-Tuning software.

Cons: My requirements for my PC build were: ITX size motherboard at a low cost to go with the cost effective Pentium G3258 processor with a unlocked multiplier. ASRock provided exactly that with this motherboard. At the price of 120$, there are other options, however ASrock included the additional Wifi Module which is why I chose this board. Spending 160-200$ on a motherboard to pair with a low-cost processor not only did not make sense, but it blew my budget. This is why I opted for a H97 motherboard over a Z97.

I have removed 1 egg from the review because as previously mentioned in other reviews of this motherboard: with Bios v 1.10, I can only overclock this motherboard with the 20th anniversary Pentium G3258 CPU using the ASRock A-Tuning Software. Any changes saved to the CPU clock multiplier in the BIOS are not applied, or maintained. Further when using A-Tuning software to overclock, the CPU seems to be locked at 4.2Ghz full time without going into lower C-States. using the A-Tuning software. I still want to be able to throttle down the CPU normally when there is idle load. I also would like for the BIOS settings to stick without having to resort to the A-Tuning Software.

A Second problem I have noticed is that if I press the power button quickly using my Bitfenix Prodigy power button, the system will turn on and immediately off. I must hold the power button for roughly 1 second or more for the system to start and stay on. This may be relative to the type of power button that is on the Bitfenix Prodigy case which allows very easy and quick "click" as opposed to some other power buttons which by design force you to hold the power button for longer.

Last issue I will note is that there are only 2 fan headers on the motherboard, 1 for CPU and one for a single case fan. I would recommend for future board designs to try to have 3 fan headers or more (however I understand with it's ITX design, there is limited real-estate)

I hope for some of these features, Specifically the overclocking ability, to be improved in future BIOS updates.

Other Thoughts: Overall this motherboard is very good. If they manage to rectify the issues with the Overclocking abilities of K Series processors, I would easily give this a 5 egg rating. For the moment though, there are many other H97 Motherboards with better OC ability. Given the fact that ITX sized motherboards are becoming increasingly popular, I would like to know that the company I am purchasing from takes this market space seriously.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

Thank you for your purchase and review.
For the G3258 processor, please update the latest BIOS at UEFI BIOS, Tools, Internet Flash (required LAN cable with internet ready).

5 out of 5 eggsA perfect fit for my use

Pros: Simple layout of connections. Has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth via mini-PCIe card. USB 3.0 Header. Lots of features in the BIOS.

Cons: Wi-Fi antennas mount on the I/O shield which doesn't provide much support at all though not surprisingly. Only has 2 fan headers. No onboard speaker connection.

Other Thoughts: Works perfect for my use as a low cost mini gaming system.

5 out of 5 eggsWiFi Module Requires Driver Online

Pros: Easy installation, whole system worked perfectly. Great UI in the bios, a ton of options and simple interface.

Cons: As per John Q's review, I had the same issue with the WiFi module not being noticed. I went to AsRock's website and installed the driver for the WiFi module and it has run perfectly ever since.

1 out of 5 eggsI expect everything to work when I purchase a new product

Pros: Motherboard does what I need it to do.

Cons: The Half Mini-PCI Express Wifi w/ Bluetooth does not work at all which leads me to suspect it came DOA.

Other Thoughts: The only reason I purchased this motherboard was because it came with that module for wifi and without it, this just makes the set useless.

I have already cut out the serial number tag on the box to redeem the MIR. I have never had any problems before this one. I'm just hoping it gets resolved considering the support team still has not contacted me.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please download and install the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers at link " http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H97M-ITXac/?cat=Download ".

3 out of 5 eggsDecent board - some flaws

Pros: Easy install, well documented, nice layout.
I liked that it came with Wireless AC card, good on board audio, and a USB 3.0 pinout for the case.

Cons: Sticky residue on bottom of board, no bios speaker pinouts.

Other Thoughts: First time I've gotten a motherboard that stuck to the foam packing in the box when I pulled it out. Had to peel the foam off, then it stuck to my hands. Considered doing an RMA right off the bat, but figured it was just an epoxy residue that never dried or cured. Built the whole machine up, noting that there was no place for me to mount a bios speaker. Figured it would be fine, but then the machine didn't boot. I had no bios beeps to help diagnose why it wasn't booting. Had to strip the machine back down to just motherboard, CPU, ram, and PSU and booted it outside the case. Luckily it all came up so I reassembled and it worked fine. This is my first socket 1150 board - is it normal for them to come without bios speaker pinouts on the motherboard? I guess I should have checked out the manual online before ordering.

As far as the residue / epoxy - the machine has been running fine for 24 hours - I hope it continues to do so. Didn't feel like processing an RMA on it.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard, but currently lacks OC support on the Pentium G3258

Pros: Nice features for the price. Compatible with the newest Haswell Refresh CPUs provided you have one with the newest BIOS (Version 1.10). Comes with SATA III and PCIe 3.0. Also, has a wireless card included, which is handy on an ITX build. UEFI interface is easy to navigate and use. Excellent sound quality from integrated audio.

Cons: Myself and at least one other guy can only overclock this motherboard with the 20th anniversary Pentium G3258 CPU using the ASRock A-Tuning Software. Any changes saved to the CPU clock multiplier in the BIOS are not applied. I also noticed that the other ASRock motherboards with the H97 chipset already have the option in the BIOS of overclocking with a non-Z motherboard. Again, as of recently, only the ITX model does not have this option.

Other Thoughts: The whole point of the cheap, unlocked Pentium processor coupled with a relatively affordable motherboard is the ability to overclock for a low price. For now we wait for a BIOS update...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Due to Intel H series chipset, the overclocking may be limited.
However, we do have other mainboards for Pentium G3258.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Easy BIOS
-Very well made
-great sound quality dont need any sound cards
-it has 802.11ac

Cons: -multiplier frequency is only 99.77
-the wireless is kinda hard to setup with those tiny screws -the antenna wont screw in place due to the washers, one is small the other is big , and it won't screw in and hold it tight

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little board

Pros: *Fits a 750 TI just perfectly
*Easy install
*Sound in my 6.1 setup is fantastic, no static or interference at all
*Great UI for the BIOS, it looks like any application you might use in Windows!
*No dropping wireless, and the provided 802.11AC is fast

Cons: *Single channel AC, so fast but not super fast wireless speeds (actual transfer of 10-12 mb/sec)
*The illustration of the screws on the manual was too small, but you figure things out well enough

Other Thoughts: A great board for the money, just know your wireless will connect at 433mbps, not 866. Still, plenty fast enough for streaming mkvs on my NAS. I highly recommend this MB, and it won't break the bank either
