5 out of 5 eggsExcellent low cost server board

Pros: Was inexpensive, fit perfectly in Antec 3U server case

Cons: Antec Fan died after4 years - replaced with Scythe http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185054

Other Thoughts: One poster here couldn't get last 2 SATA ports to work. He needs to image backup OS (OS won't boot after this change), go into BIOS and switch SATA from compatible to Enhanced and then two more choices appear - choose AHCI. I ran into this and found with simple storagecraft backup - switched over to AHCI and restored - machine is faster now and I now have 1 Raptor and 5 1TB black WD Caviars. Running Hyper-V with 24GB RAM and dual Xeons - lots of flexibility in our office now regarding servers.

3 out of 5 eggsBeware Warranty

Pros: The board is avaiable, and works fine, decent drivers and developed OK. THIS IS A REAIL BOARD, they will not honor the warrenty.

Cons: I have 4 of these and all the network cards went out at once. When I contacted Super Micro thier tech support said no problem we will cross ship you new boards, then the nightmare started. They pretened to make a mistake, then continued to make it hard to get the boards replaced. In the end I gave up, I just have 4 boards with Network cards plugged in. And bought a backup.

Other Thoughts: Do a search on the net for people who have had this same problem, they will charge for everything and will even say, HEY we will fix it then say we need a credit card first. I have a 1300$ charge I am still dealing with them on, they have not taken off.

1 out of 5 eggsA Bit disappointing

Pros: Fast, lots of slots for goodies

Cons: NOT AN ATX board. Built for rack, not desktop towerd. Had to practically force it to fit my Full size ATX tower (acutally I didn't, the computer shop I use did). Cannot get to all locations of mb due to hard drives in the way.

Only 4 of 6 onboard SATA plugs work. Cannot get the last to to be recognized by board/bios... nada zip.

Hot and Loud, and now, after about 13 months of use, it appears to be failing. Tsk TSk

Other Thoughts: If you can, look elsewhere first. While this system is fast, it is buggier than I am happy with and as a professional who depends on the system, I am now looking and another upgrade to repalce this one. :(

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent board

Pros: very good quality

Cons: clumsy bios - not always shipped with current bios - or in inventory too long.

Other Thoughts: I wish they would all go back to jumpers.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for what it provides

Pros: Easy installation, came right up and recognized floppy, dvd r/w, and sata drive. Loaded XP64 and was up and running...no issues.

Cons: Needs a pcix16 slot, also could use a better audio interface

5 out of 5 eggsnot proprietary

Pros: as some people seem to think this is an excellet board and will fit in any case with a little engineering...Drill and tap and die set...or you just buy a case that is designed for server atx boards. Any one who has done more that his/her share of builds knows that there is always a little bit of tweaking involved in each and every build. That's why we do it and thats why we love it so much!! This MFR gives you the brackets to use to make it compatible to mount the board..do not buy the open box version you may not get the brackets, However if you are savy enough you can make it work and save some money$$$.Some of the SATA conections are turned for a reason, they allow for some external cards to take advantage of e-SATA and use the SATA bus speeds wich are much faster than current PICe x16 cards..this is a great solution for a RAID SATA storage tower..Takes the hard drives out of the case and gives them there on cooling and power.. and can be done for under $500.00.

Cons: none if you know what your doing!!

Other Thoughts: People, do your research get help from the experts...We are never good enough to not take advice or teachings from others in the field of computers..it is an ever changing world and there is always someone else that has more experence and expertice. PEOPLE READ THESE REVIEWS AND RELY ON US TO GIVE GOOD FACTS BASED ON OUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCES.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Dual Xeon system

Pros: Nice layout. It is a tight fit in the server chassis that I bought, but it does fit. The cpu mounting holes are not in the standard location, but the board includes brackets that screw to the correct locations on the chassis and then provide mounting points for the heatsinks.

Cons: None aside from the confusion I had with the CPU mounting. Note that another reviewer said this is properietary mounting. It isn't. You just need to use the included brackets.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected

Pros: It works. No problems whatsoever.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Two things I noticed: PCI are 3.3v only (check for any legacy PCI cards you may want to use with this board); per manual board wants 8-pin 12V power connector, power supply I use provides only 4-pin but it seems to be enough (sticked it at ATX connector side), YMMV.
Had absolutely *no* *problems* with board alignment in the chassis (Chenming CMUI-601AECB-U, N82E16811125436).

5 out of 5 eggsCompatability Problems

Pros: This looks like a great board, and is quite cheap for the options.

Cons: Proprietary. See below.

Other Thoughts: This board is not compatable with any dual socket ATX standard cases except specific SuperMicro cases. I've been through two cases already, only to find out that the screw holes are slightly off when trying to screw down the heatsinks for both processors.

For the proper cases, see the CSE-743T-650B, CSE-743T-R760B, or check that manufacturers page on the motherboard to see compatible cases. This is proprietary. =(
