1 out of 5 eggsGreat NewEgg support, terrible Supermicro support

Pros: The motherboard has LOTS of ports: 6 SATA (all filled) and 12 USB (lots of empties) and supported my favorite processor.

Cons: Supermicro essentially told me that I was stupid to buy this board. I asked if the board would boot Windows 7 from an IDE drive (their documentation only referenced WIn 7 on SATA). Their reply: "Supermicro C2SBC-Q board and Intel Q35 chipset were release 7 years ago. It is going to EOL. It was not validated with Windows 7." The rep was not even familiar with their own documentation!

Not helpful at all! I'm happily running Win 7, booting from SATA, but this will be my LAST Supermicro purchase.

2 out of 5 eggsGood board but

Pros: There are not many decent lga775 boards left to buy anywhere. This one is one of a bare few you can get.

Cons: For one hundred and sixty plus dollars, I expect a motherboard manual and a driver CD. It is currently impossible to download the drivers from the manufacturer website. That's absolute nonsense.

Other Thoughts: Again, for a high dollar motherboard to not come with a driver cd and a manual is unheard of. Completely pathetic nonsense. If they can't provide something as basic as a driver disk, what else did they skimp on?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Board booted first time, no need for BIOS update.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This product is used to power a server running WIN2008R2. The board is in a 3U Supermicro chassis. Currently, the on-board RAID chip supports six WD500 RE3s. We installed an LSI 9260-8i last week. On order now are two more HDDs and the cables to attach to the HDD back-plane. Expect nothing but smooth sailing.

3 out of 5 eggsDisapointed

Pros: decent customer service

Cons: having issues with several sata ports have 3/mbs transfer rate. they gladly rma'd the bored, which i had to pay for shipping, they ran their diagnostics, couldn't figure out the problem and sent my board back to me.

ati radeon video card was compatible.

not enough pci slots.

Other Thoughts: this is my second supermicro board. my last one just stopped working one day. black screen.

i bought another supermicro because when the board worked, it worked well, and there customer service seemed good and very helpful.

2 out of 5 eggsNo Floppy header for Raid setup

Pros: Did not come DOA.

Cons: One of the reasons I purchased this board was to run RAID. The board DOES NOT HAVE A FLOPPY HEADER. The raid driver requires floppy. I will not buy a USB floppy as there is no guarantee this will work either. WHY BUILD A RAID ACTIVE MB WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO INSTALL IT!

5 out of 5 eggsGeat QNX board!

Pros: This board is a great choice if you plan to build a machine with a QNX Neutrino RTOS (real time operating system). It has plenty of PCI slots to fit canbus/interbus cards and one of its onboard network adapters is directly supported by QNX which eliminates the need to fit in a separate ethernet card (and take up another vital PCI slot).

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsStable and fast

Pros: The ports available are reasonable. It can serve as a nice workstation or a server. It has enough PCI-E bandwidth to handle a high end graphics card and a 3ware controller. Ports on the board are well spaced.

Cons: Not enough fan headers on the motherboard. 2 more would be nice.

Other Thoughts: I got this to replace an ASUS P5B-Deluxe after the old board died. This was a very nice upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent Board

Pros: Reliable, dual Intel LAN, low price.

Cons: Wish it supported more memory, but for the price 8GB will do for most small servers.

Other Thoughts: Tossed in a Q9300, 8GB of Kingston memory (N82E16820134582) and a 3Ware 9560-SE (N82E16816116075) with two WD RE3 500's (N82E16822136294). Runs CentOS 5.5 perfectly.

I'm running CentOS in text mode, other reviewers mention Linux Video drivers issues. I run all my Linux servers headless in text mode only, so I cannot comment on X support.

If you are considering this product remember Supermicro makes server boards, which are not known for good graphics or overclocking abilities.

4 out of 5 eggsESXi VT-d

Pros: esxi4.1 with vmdirectpath (PCI-passthrough) works, quite a bit of memory, and lots of PCI slots. Great support from supermicro.

Cons: I don't know if they have updated the bios but when I first got the board the bios had a problem with ACPI and vt-d turned on. pci passthrough requires both to function.

Supermicro gave me a new bios and it worked like a champ.

Other Thoughts: No issues running 6 VMs, zoneminder with a capture card.

I haven't dug into the USB yet but from what I played with its going to be a pain to figure out which ones map where.

2 out of 5 eggsAfter 6 months CMOS crapped

Pros: It worked great while it worked. Can fit the a big graphic card such as the GForce 9800 GTX+ without it getting in the way of any other components.

Cons: After 6 months, my computer would turn on and all I hear is rapid beeping then just the Super Micro logo. I asked for help from their tech support and after 5 weeks of trouble shooting to get the CMOS to even come up, still not working.
I have given up on this board and am going with another board.
