5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Full featured, awesome CPU support, fantastic price. Worked perfectly with my Core2 E6750 and 4GB of PC6400 Ram. Installed this board as a Windows Server 2003 setup with no issues at all.

Cons: Boxed BIOS was far out of date (older than Feb. 2008). Update was necessary to fix a BSoD during Server 2003 setup. No FDD header. Lacks adequate documentation in manual form. Check the Foxconn's website to see if the processor you are installing had support added for it recently or not. You can't flash a BIOS if it can't understand the processor!

Other Thoughts: BIOS needed to be flashed right out of the box, however, their website lists all the BIOS releases and a link to downloads. Flashing it is a bit of a pain though, the motherboard does not have a FDD header. Luckily I had a USB Floppy Drive. Created an MS-DOS start-up disk from another WinXP machine and booted to it. Then copied the BIOS files to that disk once it booted up, and then ran the batch file. Flashed in < 5 minutes.

2 out of 5 eggsBuy a Different Board

Pros: Nothing that you won't find in another board.

Cons: This board is not built very sturdy, namely the RAM slots. Mine also has very shoddy SATA slots. It will read the SATA hard drives/CD drives and say they're compatible, but they won't run directly through the board. I had to buy a separate expansion card with SATA slots just to get the stuff to run. The BIOS is rubbish as well.

Other Thoughts: Stay away if you can.

4 out of 5 eggsI just built my best system

Pros: Foxconn G33M motherboard, coolmaster centurion 532 case (case has quiet low speed front 120mm fan, I added a Antec tri cool 120mm rear fan set to low speed, thick case metal = low noise and mesh case design allows for Adequate cooling when fans are low speed), Intel Q6600 quad core CPU, Coolmaster vortex 752 CPU fan, I am using onboard video, Ultra 500W power supply with quite 120mm fan, connected to 22" Acer monitor purchased from Newegg, motherboard was easy to assemble, drivers loaded in automatically with driver install program on CD, This computer purrs like a kitten and can handle all the multi tasking I have thorwn at it.

Cons: There is a set of pins (blue) for fire wire, but the pins are backwards - I could not insert case fire wire plug into it. Instead I got a fire wire PCI card with header pins on it.

Other Thoughts: Actually, I am using a coolmaster 531 case - not sold anymore, buy the 532 is very similar. Coolmaster cases are the best!! Antec cases are second best!!

2 out of 5 eggsBIOS out of date

Pros: Loads of USB ports, simple setup for computer builders, 4 memory slots.

Cons: Onboard BIOS was out of date (back to when larger hard disks were not supported). NO ONBOARD FLOPPY means that BIOS is incredibly hard to flash (i.e. use a CD or USB flash drive. Motherboard does not support booting from USB! And although I tried my best, I could not get DOS to recognize the BIOS update files from Foxconn's website via CD boot. Also, no onboard Firewire ports, other than the single port on the back, G33M-S has these.

Other Thoughts: I was a bit uneasy purchasing this motherboard, as the price was barely less than a better branded Asus mobo. However, during a special, the price was far lower and I went ahead and got it. Unfortunately, I was very unsatisfied, as the BIOS was far out of date. I could not get Vista or XP to install on my working 160GB hard drives (2 of them!) Vista would stop halfway and tell me there was an error, XP would finish the install and then couldn't boot. An old 80GB disk worked perfect, no problems, but Foxconn's BIOS updates would not run from Windows XP (said my operating system was not supported?) If the BIOS had been up to date or at least easily flashable, this mobo would have been at least 4 stars.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: fast shipping.... within 2 business days

Cons: big headache......
All the documentation indicates that firewire is supported internally but upon recieving the board I realized the connectors were not present. Even the diagrams that came with it show 1394 ports but still there are none supported on this board.
Not compatible with my Mic and Headphone jacks on the front side of my PC case

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad at all

Pros: Paired this board up with an E7200 in a mATX case. No issues whatsoever. It's slightly overclocked to 3 GHz. BIOS gave me no trouble at all. Got it on $30 price reduction and decided to roll the dice. Very pleased with this board. Video is plenty good for the mainstream crowd. Gamers, of course, should look elsewhere.

Cons: No FireWire.

Other Thoughts: E7200, AMPX 2 gig ram, WD 640

4 out of 5 eggsGot it right on my first try.

Pros: Inexpensive and not too difficult to install. Comes with a useful magnified diagram of what each port and slot is that will help you to navigate the board.

Cons: Not compatible with my memory card readers or the Mic and Headphone jacks on the front side of my old emachines frame.

Other Thoughts: 3 months ago my emachines mother board crapped out on me and I found my self faced with the annoying prospect of having to purchase a new computer. I liked my old computer and all of the peripherals and improvements I had added to it and didn't want to pay for bunch of peripherals I would just swap out for the better ones I already had. So, I purchased this board and with no experience with boards except for adding RAM, Graphics cards, DVD-Drives and Hard Drives I got it working on the first try.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective AMI BIOS

Pros: N/A

Cons: Foxconn has acknowledged that this product has a faulty AMI (American Megatrends BIOS and says they are working on a solution.

Do not buy this board if you intend to use a non Windows OS until a fix has been posted.
