The Foxconn X38A motherboard offers enhanced connectivity and superior entertainment capability with a suite of high-performance features and components. Part of Foxconn's Digital Life series, this ATX motherboard is equipped with Intel's X38 and ICH9R chips to support Intel LGA 775 socket multi-core processors such as the Quad-Core, Core 2 Extreme and Core 2 Duo CPUs with a front side bus of up to 1333 MHz.
Install up to 8GB of DDR2 or 4GB of DDR3 memory with dual channel support. Solid capacitor design and Ferrite Choker power delivery combine to maximize performance and reliability. Power through any video challenge with a pair of PCI-Express x16 graphic cards which can be linked together via CrossfireX. A third PCIe x16 slot along with slots for a pair each of PCIe x1 and PCI cards provide massive potential for further expansion.
Eight channels of theater-quality HD sound can be output as two separate signals through optical or coaxial cables. Six 3Gb/s SATA 2 connectors allow for high speed data transfers with plenty of options for RAID configurations. A pair of eSATA connectors allow for the same speeds while connecting to a variety of external drives and a FireWire and four USB 2.0 ports provide even more options. Transfer data from other networked computers at broadband speeds with the Gigabit Ethernet LAN.

This board ROCKS!
- Pros: You'd think when you get a new motherboard, install it and fire it up for the first time you'd get some annoying beep where you'd have to go double check your work, or go into the BIOS and tweak something! See Cons:
- Cons: Man I am unhappy. I put it in my case, hooked everything up flipped the power switch and not one annoying beep. It just fired right up perfectly! So I load in Vista hoping for some snag. 64 bit problems. SOMETHING. Where are the snags guys? I put in the driver disk--smooth as silk. Everything works perfect. See other thoughts.
- Other Thoughts: Foxconn, you guys have got to get with the program. If you create a motherboard that doesn't have any problems, put some in! You can't have people thinking perfection is a standard. Other companies will become jealous.
I'm being facetious. Your board is awesome.
Bravo. Thanks Foxconn
Good Value in the X38 realm
- Pros: I compared motherboard products from Asus, Gigabyte, MSI. This board offered the best value among the X38 boards that are available now (11/07). The dual ethernet, eSata and firewire rear ports are not found on competitor boards at this price point. The hybrid DD2/DD3 feature was a bonus as I have a lot of DD2 memory lying around and spending more $ on DDR3 was not what I had in mind right now. This feature is an "OR" feature though: you can't use both forms of memory at the same time.
- Cons: It does not have the Linux kernal to enable instant web browsing like the new ASUS board.
It looks like someone ate a bag of legos and threw up on the board. Lime green and squash yellow should be banned from use on motherboards.
- Other Thoughts: I'll update the review after I've had some time with the board. Kudos to Newegg to be the first retailer that has stock of this board in the US.

Seems cool but not really
- Pros: Board looks sick lots of features
- Cons: If the Board actually would work for more than 5 minutes it would be great. The board has plenty room for expansion only prob is the computer would just shutdown for no reason after a few minutes after it fully boot and wouldn't again until a cold boot. I tried everything to get it to work, monitored temps and halted all errors on POST but to no avail. The on-board LED is a nice touch to debug your probs if they sent ya a manual to debug them lol. Even when I looked up the codes they were not very clear and when I did try what it said to do to fix it, which is removing a chip and putting it back it shut off after 5 minutes and gave me the same error each time i did it.
- Other Thoughts: Thanks to Newegg for their speedy RMA!!!
First Foxconn Board
- Pros: *Solid, no errors during Vista X64 boot
*External SATA ports *Dual Channel slots for DDR2 AND DDR3 *Awesome florescent, glowing slots for use in light-up cases * THREE PCI Express X16 2.0 slots for ATI CF *Flawless gaming!
- Cons: First off, the only reason I'm giving this board 4 eggs is because the heat pipe got in the way of my Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120mm CPU cooler, and I had to return it losing 10 dollars for shipping in the process. Then again, that cooler is a little too big... But here are some other cons, but nothing that detracted away from the 5 eggs:
*The DDR2 only supports up to 8GB while some motherboards are now supporting upwards of 16GB *The DDR3 slots only support up to 4GB. And I'm expected to upgrade to DDR3 while moving down in memory size? To me, the DDR3 is pointless unless you're using it right now. *The PATA slot is turned on its side making it really difficult to use if needed. *The third PCI Express 2.0 slot is at the bottom of the board meaning that if in the even that you get a third card for CF, it has to be a single slotted card. So, no cards with big coolers.
- Other Thoughts: I'm actually VERY impressed with this motherboard. In the past, I've always have been hesitant with Foxconn because of all the stories I've heard. However, this board seemed too great of an opportunity to pass up, and I'm glad I bought it! I would recommend this board to anyone and would buy again.
P.S.- As a side note, and though not necessarily related to this board, there is nothing wrong with Vista X64 for gaming. Whether or not Vista would work for gaming was one of my biggest concerns. After researching, and seeing no recent issues in forums, I decided to just go for it. Vista has been COMPLETELY FIXED. So far, I've had absolutely no problems whatsoever. Just make sure you have at least 4GB RAM, a solid video card, and you're gold! (Hope this helps somebody!) ;)
UGH!
- Pros: 3 pci-e slots, ddr3 capable...thats it.
- Cons: Where to start...how about the fact this board crashes my computer, or totally freezes it. The bios forgets settings, and the newest bios update is way old, and even worse than the original bios. This board was supposed to be "awesome" but boards of far less ability out perform this thing!! Just typing this, my computer has froze 4 times! My old Biostar T-series ran way better then this thing! DON'T BUY!!
- Other Thoughts: Newegg couldn't refund me because I sent in for a rebate, so they told me to talk to Foxconn, I talked to Foxconn, they told me to update my bios, I already had the latest bios. Big help guys...
