5 out of 5 eggsYears and counting...

Pros: This board has been with me for years now, through a 9850 be to a 940be now, through 4870 512, to 1gig crossfire, now with 6870 crossfire, overclocks for 24/7 were 9850@ 3.2 and 940@3.8. Solid overclocking board, good layout for its time, never has let me down.

Cons: Cannot find a raid 0 driver for 64 bit, 32 bit driver bsods, board is limited to the 940 and ddr2 ram.

Other Thoughts: Good overclocker, runs crossfire sweet, this board has been a beautiful addition and is still holding on for me to this day. If you happen to find one I highly recommend it for the acc and solid headroom for tweaks.

5 out of 5 eggsBest AM2+ Board

Pros: Looks great, has plenty of USB ports on board and rear I/O panel. Build was simple. Good quality Board. Great Tech support, they responded either same day or by the next with the right answers. Stability is high on this board.

Cons: You do need to use comon since when picking a CPU Cooler. Some Coolers will cover bank 0 & 1 memory slots. This board is not for the Noob, I say that because it my require bios update. Bios update is simple for those who are experiance. The only real bad point for this board is the bios temp monitor is not accurate, this is not uncommon with all brands...but most people use a third party program for readings to see on the desk top anyhow.

Other Thoughts: The Zero therm Butterfly 92mm CPU Cooler work great and dose not block memory slots. This board has been used for work and running most of the day and in standby when not in use 7 days a week for the last year. 3 out of 5 eggsFoxconn A7DA-S AM2+/AM2

Pros: booted first time install. lots of features. supports full 140 watt cpus without a problem, can disable the phenom crash patch if you have a 9x50 series to get full performance. supports HPET, took my high end cpu, vid card and memory that ran stupidly slow on a cheap motherboard and turned them into the lightning speed that they are. GREAT NORTHBRIDGE, POWER REGULATOR AND SOUTHBRIDGE HEATSINKS! they are massive! and solid copper. 100% solid capacitors.

Cons: the overclocking ability is awkward. sometimes i can get my phenom 9950 with aftermarket cooling to push 3.2 GHz for an entire day or two with no stability issues or crashes, until i turn it off and reboot it and the overclock fails thereafter. its very random whether or not an overclock will work on this board. you think youre 100% stable but then after a cold boot it takes 15 minutes to return to stock and stable again. so i tried 3 GHz, seemed stable until cold boot and failed post. tried 2.9 and it was stable up until windows booting. 2.8 was stable as a rock, but provides no performance boost from the el cheapo motherboard i was using before (a $30 one that wasnt even am2+) due to the fact the old motherboard got to 2.8 also. also, the bios is clunky compared to some of the boards ive seen. another think to note is if running crossfire it is limited to 8x speed. no where could i find other than the 4th review site i went to says it runs 8x in crossfire.

Other Thoughts: very good board apart from the flaws. also still the same price as it was when it came out long ago. that's kinda sad

4 out of 5 eggsLong Term Review of Foxconn A7DA-S rev 1 Motherboard

Pros: At the time of purchase, was an advanced board with great cutting-edge features. Has been very dependable. Has worked well with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7, allowing for acquiring the necessary drivers.

Cons: Foxconn's driver refresh cycle is a bit slow, although better than some, and worse than others. Has required digging for drivers on other manufacturer's/OEM's sites to find compatible drivers when the newest revisions/version of OSes have been installed/tested. Not too much out-of-the-ordinary for a machine I've been using for beta testing and development. Not exactly the best board for a novice builder or for the faint of heart.

Other Thoughts: Purchased mid-September 2008. First board was replaced by NewEgg under RMA. Suspect it was not the board's fault, since the power supply ordered at the same time was defective (overvoltage on 3.5 volt channel), and probably damaged the board during first power-up. Kudos to NewEgg for their assistance.

There have been some hoops to jump through to get everything working correctly (sound, RAID, RAM and CPU clocking) but it has run dependably under Windows XP, Vista (RTM, SP1 and SP2) and Windows 7 (betas, RC, and RTM), mostly driver problems. Driver support from Foxconn has been sluggish through the various new OS builds, but a bit of creative scrounging for drivers from other manufacturer's/OEM's sites for beta and early release drivers compatible with the various on-board components has worked well to fill-in where Foxconn fell short. Build now includes Phenom II 940 (originally Phenom 9950), 4GB OCZ Reaper 1066 DDR2 SDRAM, and an ASUS/nVidia 9500GT 1GB GDDR2 PCIe video card.

1 out of 5 eggsAbysmal

Pros: Good if you still run XP

Cons: For a $125 you can be robbed and buy this board. I bought this board a while back to replace my previous Asus board thinking foxconn might have better support for their boards. While I haven't had to many problems aside from their website being down 75% of the time, no drivers for windows 7 months after it has been available to consumers and of course the bios switching the multiplier on my cpu down from 16x to 4x.

Other Thoughts: You know come to think about it, it would make a great doorstop!

1 out of 5 eggsWell, okay, I give up

Pros: Nicely built, 790GX chipset is pretty nice...

Cons: Where to start... This board is about 8 months old. I had problems from the start in getting it to recognize my USB devices, and give temp readings. Foxconn finally released a BIOS with the temp fix, so now I can see how hot things are. Lately, my drives have started to randomly "unhook" themselves from the OS, the SMART data bus has failed, so no SMART data from the HDD's, and the temp sensor chip has failed completely. I only get a static temp from bootup on all three temp sensors. It never changes as the machine warms up. If I want to get an idea of what my CPU temp is, I have to reboot. The only temp I get now is the CPU core. Oh, and the fan speeds are all over the place. I also can't get any HDMI port in my machine to work. Not the one on the A7DA-S, or the one on my new graphics card. It also won't run 1066 RAM at any voltage or timing setup that I tried. It was Mushkin RAM and guaranteed to run at 1066, but it's not on Foxconn's QVL so...

Other Thoughts: I did get it to run with my new Phenom II 920 with no problems, but over the past few months, more and more problems are creeping into this thing. I have reflashed the BIOS with the latest version, to hopefully fix the problems, but no go. And reflashing voids your warranty, so I had to void my warranty to try to get my hardware to work properly?

I'm not even gonna RMA this thing. I'm just going to replace it with something else and throw it away. My experience with Foxconn support was less than acceptable. I'm not going to return a broken board to them, only to have them tell me it's "supposed to work that way", like they did with the temp issue everybody complains about that they finally were forced to fix. I really had high hopes for this board. The reviews were stellar. I thought I made a good choice. Guess not.

3 out of 5 eggsWrong Specs? Doesn't like Extra USB Slots?

Pros: Nice Price, good quality board, I like the side facing SATA ports

Cons: Ordered this because it says it's an AM2/AM2+ Motherboard but it is definately an AM3 Socket (at least the one I got was - my athlon 64 X2 6000+ AM2 cpu did not fit)

It was also DDR3 RAM slots - NOT DDR2.

Takes forever to boot up when I have my internal Card Reader/USB ports plugged in. Sometimes won't boot at all. Card Reader worked fine before.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: I like the fact that it can run 2 gpus in crossfire/sli in x16, also the bios is very easy to handle and I never had any problem overclocking my phenom II X4 940 to 3.8ghz. The board fits a lot of big cpu coolers without covering up the ram.

Cons: none for me, never had an issue with the board

Other Thoughts: For some strange reason I'm not able to connect a e-sata device using my case's front panel, but it works with the e-sata plug that comes with the mobo. I have cooler master haf 932 maybe it's my case's problem?

2 out of 5 eggsthis board + Phenom II X4 955 = GARBAGE!!

Pros: Works good on Athlon 64X2, hold 8gigs of RAM, 790 chipset is nice for overclocking.

Cons: i rated 2 eggs as apposed to my previous review, this is a GREAT board if your not using a phenom 2. something keeps turning my CPU multiplier down to 4X when it should run at 16X.....this is a headache to say the least, gaming is a night5mare since you don't know when you will get good game play and when you wont. THERE SUPPORT PAGE IS 97% OF THE TIME NOT AVAILABLE!!, so i cant go check for updates. i do have there latest bios version and this did fix the initial fact that the PC wouldn't even boot with a 16X multiplyer.

Other Thoughts: i will not recomend these board anymore nor will i buy them, there support is enough alone to make me look elsewere. this is my second foxconn board and it works fine unless you want a decent CPU to work on it.

SPECS:
AMD Phenom II X4 955
2 ATI Radeon HD 4890's in crossfire
8Gigs of Gskill DDR2 800Mhz ram
Barracuda 500gig
850W corsair PSU
