1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: nice features. bought for half off in a sale in 2010, didn't get around to installing until august 2011.

Cons: 11 months in and the board is starting to fade away. cannot play a game for longer than a few minutes; results in a hard hang. restarting shows that the CMOS time/date has been wiped, followed by hard hangs in the bios setup screen. after a few more restarts, board functions fine until the next time you try to play a game, when the scenario repeats itself. very frustrating.

Other Thoughts: i've swapped out a different video card, power supply, and memory. problem persists. contacting foxconn support on Monday for RMA.

1 out of 5 eggsthink bad voltage regulators

Pros: worked when first installed two video card slots supports x6 processors

Cons: first got it had a outdated bios couldn't boot foxconn told me to buy a lower end processor so i could boot it to flash the bios before finally shipping me one for my x6
then the bios never goes over or under 40'c took a week talking to foxconn to fix that
now my cpu voltage is wildly fluctuating from 1.225v to 1.523v

Other Thoughts: never buy a foxconn anything again

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valuable customer,

First of all, we do apologize for the inconvenience. You are correct about getting a board with old BIOS revision that does not able to support AMD Phenom x6 processors but we would normally sending out a replacement BIOS chip if you don’t have a processor that will allow you to flash the BIOS. It is not required to purchase another processor to flash the BIOS.

Also for CPU voltage, it is not supposed to stay at a specific value. It will run at different voltages but within the specification and depending on the system loads. Please refer to the attached images. We are not overclocking here. We are running at the Optimal BIOS settings (P09 BIOS revision) and with Phenom II x6 processor. But the cpu voltage is normal.

Are you overclocking? We are not able to duplicate your issue, so please contact our support team via link below or call 909-978-6556. If all of our support reps are currently on the phone or if you are calling after business hours please leave us a message with your contact info so we can call you right back. Our hours of operation are (M-F from 830am-530pm, PST, excluding public holidays). Or you can submit your email to our online support team via the link below. So we can help you with the troubleshooting steps & RMA process.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate..

Pros: I contacted Foxconn and they got me the latest BIOS 8C2F1TT1 & now I'm running a 6 Core 1090T (3.2GHz) at 3.8GHz, rock solid. Had it at 4.0GHz stable too.

Cons: Foxconn should put the new 8C2F1TT1 BIOS on their support site downloads, but at least they respond to Newegg customer comments.

The reason this MOBO has gotten slammed so bad is because the Owner's Manual incorrectly says to put the CMOS Jumper on pins 2 & 3 for normal operation... Jumper has to be on pins 1 & 2. (Pins 2 & 3 is for Clear CMOS)... Everyone thought their boards were DOA.

Other Thoughts: These really are solid 790GX MOBOs.

I'm running: Foxconn A7DA-S 3.0; AMD Phenom II x 6 1090T (3.2GHz) OverClocked at 3.8GHz, 2 way X-Fire Saphire Extreme HD-5830's OverClocked; 8GB G. Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1333; LG Blu Ray Burner; 300GB Velociraptor; WD Black 750GB; HEC 800w Modular PSU; customized Raidmax 3mm all Aluminum Iceberg Case; 6 High Speed Yate Loon Fans; Sunbeam 6 x 30w per Channel Fan Controller; nMedia PC multi function Display Panel; and a Phillips 47" 1080p HDTV/Monitor;

2 out of 5 eggswhat a shame

Pros: will overclock a p550x2-4ghz also unlocks it 3.780x4 overclock for unlock.

Cons: This applies to the x6 1090t.. p07 bios s..ks i also have p08 bios its the same and i also have t01 bios for the thuban. it also s..ks,bought 2 boards both doa back in june newegg sent 2 more..(thanks egg) they both worked until now the second board i had to use because the first one is getting ht flood errors. the second one just stopped. while running cenebench 11.5 wont even power back on.ge.err.

Other Thoughts: no wonder amd cant get a fair shake with bull like this on the market..i want amd certified motherboards, memory, power supplies.etc...i refuse to buy from i..ell...why is it they get all the good boards memory etc.. pay off any one??? amd i hope you read this.. dont mess it up..enough is enough...i will say this .my dealings with foxconn have been better then most.(thanks foxconn) but this board fails for 6 core support...GO AMD peace.

4 out of 5 eggsGood mobo bad siblings

Pros: had a see though case and green 80mm case fans. i like the color scheme. Black and yellow hahaha like the song.

Cons: i had the pc put together for less than three days. came back from school and work and i noticed two compactors on the ground next to the semi open case. didnt pay much attention to it since i was replacing other compactors in older boards. noticed my desktop was extremely slow with a hex core on start up. did a restart for windows updates and the mobo had difficultly even powering on. here it was my older idiotic brother that removed two of those puppy's. not foxxcons fault

Other Thoughts: i bought it for 60 or so. just bought the asus am3

4 out of 5 eggsBatting 100

Pros: I bought two of these boards for around $45.00 each last spring. After reading all of the reviews I was afraid to use them. The first one worked out ok so I was batting 50. I put the second one on the back burner until the other day. I got the fever to build another system using the Athlon II X4 I had been saving and decide to use it with this board. Everything I buy from Newegg is either on a combo deal or has a promotional code or is on sale + free shipping only. I built this super nice system for less than $430.00 including W7.
Black case with orange stripes.
Foxconn MB
ultra LSP 750 PS from the other guys
AMD Athlon II X4 2.9Ghz
4 GB rickshaw 1666
500 GB WD blue @ $39.00
Asus DVD burner
generic card reader
Windows 7 64 HP
This is one fast machine.
Since both MBs I bought work I am now batting 100. Will not gamble on buying another one because of reviews and how lucky can one get?

Cons: Everything anyone else said except mine were not DOA. Bios shows sideport and system memory at 667, only options slower than that. Driver disk makes a good coaster except for the hole in the middle. Downloaded Fox live update to find it a waste of cyber and drive space.
Whatever you do do not switch the BIOS jumper position as shown in the manual before booting!!! The Manual description is an error as stated in an earlier review. Leave the jumper where it is unless you have to clear the BIOS then put it on the other pins and then put back to original pins.

Other Thoughts: Talk about "A Slow Boat From China," 2007 is printed somewhere on the inclusive manual as is Norton 2008. The driver disk is so old there is nothing on it any more. All in all I can't complain for getting a $120.00 MB for $45.00 and it looks cool too. You get what you pay for most of the time and at least mine work.

4 out of 5 eggsNo Problems

Pros: Full ATX form factor. On board video. Cheap.

Cons: BIOS probably needs to be upgraded out of the box. SATA ports are on the edge of the board and are underneath the drives if you're using a large case with several drives. Why do manufacturers keep doing this?

Other Thoughts: I sympathize with the folks who seem to be having trouble with this mobo. That can be very frustrating. I have had zero problems. I reflashed the BIOS to the newest version and it unlocked a core on my 3 core AMD CPU. Highly recommended, especially for the $49.99 I paid for it.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasts

Pros: Got it going with no hitch with an 8GB set and dual Hitachi 1TB drives, a Geforce 9600 GSO and a blueray burner for an awesome media rig.

Cons: After 3 months it would restart and hang at the post screen and do a weird power cycle every few hours. I switched our ram, disconnected all my parts but a single drive and one stick of ram, cleared cmos and bought a new CR2032 battery, but to no avail.

After a confusing call to both of Foxconn's support lines and told to troubleshoot the darn thing the same way I did before, but this time I was told to simply replaced my current CPU (A Athlon x3 ) with a non compatible AM2 socket chip to see if there was a difference. You bet there was, the AM2 didn't fit, so nothing happened.

A second call to support finally got them to believe that their part may in fact be defective. Turns out the memory controller on this board is prone to just stopping due to Bios update or w/e.

I was given only one option, print out a two page report form, along with my Newegg form and a second proof statement and FAX! them and wait 3 to 4 days for a E-Mail, first of many to finally get a shipping labe

Other Thoughts: On paper this thing is great, if it breaks you must deal with the worst company for support and returns I've ever seen.

I've had low tier brands like Sparkle and Dynex give me less hassle over much more expensive items.

And sending a FAX just to validate basic information?! Even small retailers have found a way to go all E-mail or simply have a online information fill out page for RMA problems.

Here I sit, waiting and waiting just to have my new motherboard work.

5 out of 5 eggsShi

Pros: Update
This mobo is good mobo but you need to modify the Bios
at the begining the quad core ( unlock ) was not stabe and has cold start problems.
Findout to be imcomaptible RAM now I am using
Gskill
then increase the Voltage of all, that is ,CPU, RAM , NB chips
atleast one or two step in the Bios. Now stabe and very fast

Cons: Need little time to study the mobo

Other Thoughts: Very good mobo for the price
