NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI
- Pros: Not very large, 2X PCI Express X16 slots, 1333 mhz FSB support
- Cons: Still kind of pricey for an old MOBO
- Other Thoughts: The XFX version is the same exact thing. I would have reviewed it but it isn't on this website. However, I got an excellent deal on my 680i. It came with my ULTRA ATX mid tower case along with an ULTRA 700W PSU for only $200!
Awesome!
- Pros: Works like a charm, nothing bad about it. Great for the price you pay.
- Cons: None!
DOA
- Pros: I'm giving the overall rating a 3 due to the possibilities of the motherboard and the positives I have read.
- Cons: Pulled apart my old system once I received my order. Assembled new machine, Go to boot the system, Wouldn't post. I purchased an Intel E8400 and had read I may need to update the BIOS. Called EVGA tech support and they said the BIOS must be updated in order for the CPU to be recognized. I did have an extra socket 775 to use at one time but forgot about spring cleaning. Had to bring the new system to a shop, Costs me $30 to find out the motherboard had been dead but found out all my other components are good. It is true as others have written that this motherboard is a gamble at the time of purchase. Currently RMA'd the board. Paid extra to have the "certified" board sent overnight. EVGA support assured me the "certified" board would have the latest BIOS for the E8400. We shall see.
- Other Thoughts: As others mentioned, No manual. A peice of paper to get started on your connections to be made. As others stated too, Cramped connections. I won't be going beyond a 3rd RMA if that does come about, I'll give EVGA the benefit of the doubt on a first DOA.
I will purchase an ASUS motherboard. Of the many systems I've built, I've had one DOA with ASUS.
