2 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware

Pros: A fully featured motherboard with all options included for overclocking. Triple SLI is a bonus.

Cons: After four years of relatively continuous usage, the part is now completely unusable. While I believed I was buying high quality components with EVGA, in the future I'll be reconsidering them as their service has been relatively unforgiving.

Be aware that to take advantage of the lifetime warranty, your product must be registered within 30 days of purchase. Failing to do so, EVGA will politely inform you that your only remaining option is to purchase another motherboard, regardless of serial number or proof of purchase. As mentioned above, buyer beware.

Other Thoughts: Outdated socket at this point, consider better options. Also, register your product. This process is not well advertised and is essential to receiving the full warranty.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

I do apologize for any confusion over the warranty. Your product is a "TR" product that would have come with a 2 year warranty, which expired 2 years ago. Full details on our warranty policy can be found here: http://www.evga.com/support/warranty/ You may consider buying a new board with a new warranty or upgrading the platform.

Regards,
Matthew Hurwitz

5 out of 5 eggsBest board ive ever owned

Pros: This board lasted me 2 years +. Considering I was OCing an E8400 from 3.0 to 4.0 - 4.5 GHz on air, I'd say that's pretty good. The only reason I didn't clock higher was because my ram didn't want to budge past 824 Mhz, and i didn't feel like bumping the FSB past 1778+.

3 x16 PCI-e 2.0 full speed SLI. Wonderful, and hard to find now-a-days.

OC Failsafe was nice too. Never ever suffered a BSOD from OC because if the computer couldn't handle it - it wouldn't let me go there.

Great RAID driver.

EVGA makes great quality stuff. Some people say support sucks - but I've never needed it and that says something.

I had this board and CPU outperforming high end i5s in benchmarks.

Cons: I didn't get to max out the board due to current prices of DDR2.

Other Thoughts: Retiring this board as of my next CPU purchase. Going i7, i want the triple channel 1600 speed ram :D

5 out of 5 eggsPretty Good Board

Pros: It's cool to have three SLI slots although I doubt I need anything above my two 8800 Ultras for a while. Overclocking is a breeze. For anyone having trouble running 8GB with SLI, just disable SLI ready memory, works like a champ. Board layout is mostly good. Board looks cool as can be!

Cons: My first 8800 Ultra covers to 8x PCI-X slot, negating my wanting a better sound card. On-board sound is still a bit lacking on a board with this price. It seems to be a problem with most boards. If you are running air only, get high capacity fans. I need to redo mine as it only works with the side open for now - my problem.

Other Thoughts: Bad placement of 8X PCI-X slot. Great board layout other than that. Very Stable and EVGA support was 100% dead on in helping me with SLI problem - thanks!

4 out of 5 eggsRocky start

Pros: 3 way x16 sli. Wonderful board layout. Affordable price. Great overclocking.

Cons: FF post code bug. Must use 1st and 3rd PCIe slot for SLI.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board and received one with permanent FF code. After the RMA the board I received works wonderfully. These things happen and so I took 1 egg away for that and the SLI placement.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Great mobo, hooked it all up, put the new quad core and ram in, and didnt even have to re-program!!
Booted up first try, everything runs great, the OC utility is nice, it even has a built in fan controller

Great Investment, EVGA is a great company.

Cons: Beeps when the built in fan controller adjusted itself, not really a legit con, can be turned off easy.

Other Thoughts: The guy before me that stated the SATA ports are pointing to the side is wrong. There are a few SATA ports that point to the side but there are also some SATA ports that point upward normally, they're located right by the Primary IDE Controller.

5 out of 5 eggsevga 78o--For server

Pros: stable stable stable....I replaced a really bad XFX 780i that I had been going through one RMA after another with on my home server....This EVGA dropped in, and not only has it improved my streaming experience, but it has not given me any of the previous reboots, hiccups, etc..that XFX had...It's EVGA from now on BABY...

Cons: I wish they would have placed the SATA connector facing upwards so that any new or change in connections could be made far easier that is currently the case. Pointing sideways, obviously not the idea of a under-the-hood user and modder.

Other Thoughts: I would have to say that EVGA is that way to go and that XFX RMA really only involves one refurbished board replacement after nother..DON'T count on getting a new replacemetn even if its been 4 months after purchase...

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great board, works overall cheapest 3 way SLI board i've seen.

Cons: Northbridge fan is junk. The packaging really bugged me, it forces you to touch the bottom of to board to remove it from a hard plastic encapsulation, there are no slots for you to slip your figers in and grab the sides of the board.

Other Thoughts: A lot of people are having problems with the drivers and getting the audio to work, I looked through a lot of tech forums and previous threads and no one had seemed to solve the problem. Finaly out of anger i uninstalled the audio drivers that came with the CD and it magicly started working.
