Installation a Breeze
- Pros: Received motherboard in 3 days and installed the next - thanks Newegg. No surprises, very straight forward installation. Plenty of room to install various sizes of heat sinks. Board posted up on first try. I first used the stock intel cooler, but wasn't satisfied with performance; so I installed a Coolermaster Gemini II (775 socket - I love that this board has dual 775 and 1156 attachment holes) because it cools both the power MOSFETs and memory sticks. I get around 42 degrees C at idle temps at default core voltages while in my sonata III 500 case with a Geforce 275 graphics adapter. I can verify that my single GPU graphic adapter uses 16 lanes while in the first PCIe 16 slot. On the motherboard it is silk screened 1_16x, 2_8x, and 3_4x. It was extremly easy to set up a mild overclock on the 860 of 3.67 Ghz by setting three parameters, bclk to 166, cpu to 1.232v, and memory to 1.6v. The board temps are 43 degree for MOSFETs and 36 degrees for system board. I am very happy.
- Cons: Evga could improve it's installation manual, it is very basic. ASUS and Gigabyte have more detailed bios description in their manuals. I do like the poster sized quick start guide - neat idea. While for the most part, the bios is self explanatory, I noticed when I initially overclocked by only changing the bclk, the board automatically increased the Cpu core voltage. Always concerned about temperatures I wanted only to run at default CPU volts, so I manually changed voltage back to 1.232v and also reset memory volts to 1.6v for my 1333 memory speed. All was good. A description of various bios options would have been helpful without having to go to the various foreums. This would have saved a little bit of time.
- Other Thoughts: PCIe ver 2 bandwidth is not an issue only for the evga 655 motherboard. All P55 motherboards in this price range are limited to 16 lanes by the LGA 1156 processors. Knowledgable users should check out Anandtech's recent Lga 1156 review and also Tom's Hardware Guide's to fully understand and make their own informed decision. For me, this board makes sense, since I upgraded from both a P45 and a 750i based motherboard which have similiar restrictions to graphics bandwidth. My limited and current real world expectations do not envision a quad-core setup with two dual core high bandwidth ATI graphics adapters. Evga has implemented a compelling mid-level consumer oriented motherboard, that delivers ... with ease of installation and full proof overclockability. BTW I own this board. and purchased the components from NEWEGG!

Manufacturer Response:Thanks for the review. It is worth mentioning that there is a much more detailed installation manual found on both the driver CD, and our website here: http://www.evga.com/support/manuals/ Thanks, Jacob
Nice P55 mobo by eVGA.
- Pros: the p55 sLi runs good, and is easy to sit by during operation. I haven't OCed it yet, but am pleased with the i5 750 cpu on this board at stock operating. It looks cool in a clear sided case, cuz eVGA put some red and blue, even a gold light on the mobo, so the lights are quite pretty to see. Mostly, it does operate smoothly, there are no issues.
- Cons: The only drawback would be with the manual. eVGA didn't spend much time at all on the manual, it's just 13 pages, in about 8 languages. I think the thing with eVGA is, you gotta go to their forums, and look online, stuff like that. I found their mr. Jacob had an online OCing Guide for the p55 eVGA boards. My main complaint is they tell you nothing about the Bios, and p55 bios by AMI is really alot to learn compared to p45 and earlier stuff.
- Other Thoughts: The p55 eVGA board comes with a good utility, E-Leet application. It looks rather like cpu-z, but has alot of stuff on it, and is a very nice made appL. i say for smooth running, the cool lights on the mobo, and the E-LEET utility, that this is a good board. Also, it has holes for to use the older LGA775 heatsinks, so my dark knight xigmatek sits on my new i5 750 cpu, and ELEET utility reports my cpu runs 27C, and system runs 33C. that's amazing system temp. eVGA was super good on their 1366 socket board, and so this shows to be a quite good board too.

Great Board but w/ RAM problems
- Pros: Nice looking and performing board. Built in diagnostic tool, external sata ports. Got this board about a week ago and installed it the same day. I am running an i7 with 4GB Ram.
- Cons: Like I said I'm running 4GB of RAM but my specs say that only 1.99 GB of that is usable. I have searched all over the internet without a clear answer. Some say that the RAM is not seated right but I checked that a good amount of times and if it wasn't then it probably wouldnt say I have 4GB to begin with. I have also read that people who have 8GB of ram have only 4GB usable so I dont really know whats going on. I will have to call EVGA and hope they can help me with this but hopefully it is not a MOBO issue.
Stylin', Profilin'...
- Pros: ..and offering ridiculous bang for the buck. What can I say. Installed in a flash, looks good, loads of features, stable so far. Yep, good board.
- Cons: The red lit EVGA symbol on the board gives me traumatic flashbacks to my 360 red ringing.
- Other Thoughts: Processed, packed and shipped on day one, received on day two and packaged well. Newegg strikes again.
Follow up
- Pros: LOVE THIS BOARD !!
- Cons: Bios was having minor double /re boot issue
Was unable to flash to latest bios with Windows based flash utility
CAN'T GIVE THIS BOARD 6 EGGS
- Other Thoughts: Updated to latest BIOS A56 with DOS utility on a USB flash drive.
Minor reboot issue is now fixed RUNS LIKE A DREAM !! You must set DIMM clock and voltage manually.
