Question 1

According to the EVGA Users Guide for this mobo, it does not support Windows 10. Is anyone using Windows 10 with it? If so, what problems have you run into?

I run Windows 10 Professional on mine 64 bit edition, I haven't ran into any problems with it, I love this board its been rock solid since I bought it, the only complaint I had about it was the back plate that snaps into the case seems a bit cheap.

can i run 4 cards in sli at 16x each?

I could be wrong here, but I don't think so. Wouldn't 4-way SLI with x16 would require a CPU with 64 available pci-e lanes (at a minimum)? The 5960x and 5930k only have 40. I think the only pci-e config listed for quad GPUs is x8/x8/x8/x8.

Question 3

The technical specs on the i7-5820K Processor which is what I wanted to pair with this motherboard states that it can only accept DDR4 memory of speeds that are 1333/1600/2133. Has anyone else used any other speeds and it worked just fine? I just don't want to get a 2666 or a 2800 for example and have it not work. I spoke with someone from Intel last night and they told me that I can only use those speeds, but seen other reviews where others used different speeds from what was listed. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

These speeds at 2133 are the intel and DDR4 certified speeds.  The board can support memory with speeds of 3200+.

On a side note, if the memory controller in the CPU isn't the best, it may not like higher voltage memory or fast memory, so you may have to turn the voltage down and/or the speed.

Make sure you look at the ram compatability list for the x99 classified and match the memory you would like.

Does this board have Crossfire support?

being an EVGA product there’s no crossfire support, thus you should not even consider this motherboard if you’re partial in your hardware to AMD i can words superb with Nvidia.

Question 5

Want to use a M.2 drive.  Will this board support boot from it?

Go to the EVGA X99 motherboard user forums; you will get input from experienced community members and EVGA support.  Only a few M2 type SATA drives will work in this board; it supports PCIe boads, not mSATA.  Last I checked, only three were known to work, but like Lite-On just announced an enterprise PCIe M.2 board, so we may have a fourth player by the 3rd quarter.

Anyone know if you can fit this board into an NZXT Mid-ATX Case? If not, will it fit in any style Mid-ATX case or do I need to go full ATX?

I looked at that same issue when I first got it. It is possible to fit it but you won't be able to access the bottom most portion of the board. As a e-atx form it is made to be in a full size case. So it is possible but you won't get full function and depending on the case it may not fit.

If you are into overclocking, and messing with settings in the bios, then yes this is a great board. If you just want something that works, I would buy something cheaper. The board is pricey because of its quality components designed to give you an edge when pushing hardware limitations. EVGA forums is a great place to go to get tips, and review overclocking guides. This board is for folks who have experience building custom PC's. If this is your first build I would avoid this board. However, the documentation is good on their forum and so is the tech support. So with time, you could end up with a great system if you are new to building PC's. Not sure what your background is, hope this helps. Good luck!

Question 9

If you only want OS on one hard drive do you still hook up hard drives to motherboard raid connections?

You can with no adverse effects.  In the bios you can set the ports to be raid or not, by default they are not set to be "raid" ports.

If you want them to function as raid ports you have to ensure your sata cables are plugged into the correct ports (color coded) and then turn the port mode to raid.

Is anyone running linux on this MB?

Running Ubuntu 14.10 with kernel 3.13, everything works great - except for the creative audio @ 5.1, there is no driver yet :(, front left/right still work so stereo is all you will get for now.
