Sapphire takes aim at mainstream gamers with their Radeon X1950Pro card. This reasonably priced card has enthusiast class features like a 256bit wide bus to the 256MB of GDDR3 memory and acceleration of multiple formats including MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and WMV9. The 36 pixel pipes and 8 vertex shader processors provide stunning detail to every frame.
Native CrossFire support makes adding a second card easy, since it doesn’t require slave or master hardware. The 24-bit connection enables high resolutions and refresh rates on a broad range of Intel and AMD platforms.
The Avivo video and display engine has dual independent controllers with 30 bits per pixel support throughout the display pipe for maximum color accuracy. Each interface supports resolutions to 2560x1600 and beyond so you can use the card well into the future. In addition to the advanced DVI ports, there's also a component video output to directly drive HDTV displays.

nice budget card
- Pros: based on the various reviews of the x1950 pro chipset, and a few on this card, it'll be a rock solid performer on a budget. And equal to or better than the 1950 XTX when in Crossfire mode
- Cons: Sapphire doesn't seem to be offering a 512Mb version
- Other Thoughts: Reviewer #1, I would suggest at least taking a look at the ECS KA3 MVP Extreme sold here at Newegg. I bought one 2 weeks ago, that's a very nice high end part that isn't a high end cost. Uses the ATI Xpress 3200 chipset, and lots of extras. Very nice board, maybe not a DFI, but it's good and solid and here now :)
Great...
- Pros: Great XFIRE card with ATi's new technology so you no longer need master/slave cards. Fan is a little loud but can be replaced for about xx$ if it bugs you that much.
- Cons: Stock fan is a little loud when gaming.
- Other Thoughts: Ignore that nVidia fanboy who posted below. This card is good, check out some reviews.

- Pros: Worked out of the box with no issues.
- Cons: none yet
Great card for what I paid.
- Pros: This card for the price gives you a lot of kick. I was able to play Battlefield 2142, Rainbow Six: Vegas, and Unreal Tournament III on full graphics with no problems.
- Cons: My card died after a while, but then again I didn't expect it to last forever. For $135 dollars expect the possibility, but regardless of that it's done really well.
- Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a great card for not a lot of money, this card would be (in my opinion) your best choice.
- Pros: Installed without a hitch. Runs hotter than my stock card but the fan keeps up. Replacement for a X1350Pro and the difference is incredible and I can run most games on highest setting. World in Conflict stutters but that was expected and of course Crysis runs at about mid settings. Runs without problems with a stock Dell power supply but calls for 450W on box.
- Cons: None at this point. It does run hot and I had some problems in Vista with the driver software interfering with Steam but got that straightened out. If anything involving Steam pops up during installation just hit cancel and continue.
- Other Thoughts: For the price I'm very happy and until the day I want to build my own computer I'll always stick with these types of cards...Cheap and just enough power to make me smile knowing that I didn't spend many hundreds of dollars on a video card.
