5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Great card for AGP. Will get more life out of your old box.

Cons: Fan went out after about 3 months. Just installed a new one on top (a regular 60mm fan) and away we went. I do believe this may have fixed overheat issues that others have complained about.

Other Thoughts: Loved the card while I was still using it. I have upgraded all my boxes, so no more AGP to use it. Yup, its a very old card, and it took me forever to write a review (over 5 years), but if you ever get your hands on one of these, pick it up :)

1 out of 5 eggsDon't do it!

Pros: Good performance for AGP, IF it works. Mine locks in games.

Cons: Its physically large. It consumes a lot of power for the performance. It requires two molex connectors. But, most importantly, mine FREEZES and BLUE SCREENS in games. Good luck with Sapphire customer support. I couldn't even post on their forums after registering. Their product information on the website is also almost not existent. Their FAQs are not worth mentioning.

Other Thoughts: I thought this was the perfect card, but apparently there are many bugs in ATI products and customer complaints are common. This card has been a complete waste of time.

5 out of 5 eggsfast and hot

Pros: In comparison to other agp cards, this card is fast and very overclockeable with sufficient cooling. With this card (and amd64 4000 and 2gb ddr400) Crysis autodetects graphics at medium level. That's impressive for an outdated graphics interface.

Apparently this card is hard to find in stock. If you're thinking about it, order while you can.

Cons: This card runs hot!!! In a well cooled case I was getting temps in the 90's (that's celcius, almost hot enough to boil water!!) The stock cooler on this thing is loud and insufficient.

I paused Crysis for dinner and came back about 35min later to discover that my card had burnt out. It would artifact very heavily. RMA'd for a new one via the newegg online chat feature. RMA sucks, but newegg was great about the process and paid for overnight delivery on the replacement. Sweet.

Other Thoughts: Consider upgrading to pci-x before buying an agp card. agp is a slower interface and is therefore less cost effective. The cost of a pci-x motherboard and a pci-x graphics card may be the same cost as (or less than) an agp card.

After the first one died, I ordered an aftermarket cooler, the ZALMAN VF900. It's an **excellent** cooler. Now I am able to overclock to x1950pro speeds and higher: 625mhz core, 750mhz memory (that's 1500mhz effective) with an idle temp of ~30C and a load temp that never exceeds 44C. This card could handle even more.

I upgraded from a GeForce 6800 and the difference is amazing. As others have mentioned, I wouldn't recommend ati's CCC. I used ati traytools for a while with great results but one of the advanced settings was messing up Crysis (though other games were just fine). Right now I'm using riv@tuner (*sp for the newgg filter) to overclock along with the default/minimal ati drivers.

4 out of 5 eggsHoliday blues

Pros: Nice card and quieter then my old X800. Overclocks well and has 3.0 shader.

Cons: Does not run that much faster then my old card, but my system is aged. 2.8 HT P4.

Other Thoughts: If you are wanting to play the new generation of games I'd invest in a new machine with Dual-core. The new games take a lot of resources and as they keep coming out they will take even more.

5 out of 5 eggsThe best last AGP card

Pros: Much better than x1600 x2400 x2600 - I tried them all. Runs cool. Have temp monitor and adjustable fan control via ATI Tool. This is my 3rd and last video upgrade on this aging PC.

Cons: HUGE (comparing to my old X800XL)
Had to uninstall ATI Tool to get Standby working in XP.

Other Thoughts: Installed 7.12 with Classic Panel no CCC required - get older CPanel and change in CP_XP.REG driver version.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome card!!

Pros: Great card. istalled eaisly but make sure you have the room. It is a big card. Plays Bioshock,MOH airborne and COD modern warfare flawlessy. Superb upgrade for your agp card.

Cons: Make sure you have a power supply of 500 watts to handle the power this bsby needs. And don't install the drivers with it. I had problems with them even with the upgraded ati drivers. Use the 7.5 drivers with tray tools.

Other Thoughts: Newegg rocks! Great card for the $$$$.

4 out of 5 eggsPSU Monster

Pros: Very powerful, ran most new-ish games at very high settings. Its cool looking. Even Elder Scrolls 4 looked near perfect. Its a really good card for the price.

Cons: Sucked up all the power of my 450 watt PSU. If you don't have two free 4-pin molex connecters, it might be a hassle. I had to disconnect my case fans and one CD drive just to get my PC to boot up. Even then boot up happened at random, sometimes just a blank screen. Noisy fan, sounds like a box fan turned on high. Its also long enough to get in the way of IDE cables, if you have any. Had to reposition my hard drives to fit it in my case.

Other Thoughts: Either have a high grade PSU or go with PCI-Express. Newegg Rocks!

4 out of 5 eggsIts ok

Pros: AVG is a dieing breed. My 6800 GT fried I needed something to prolong my AGP board till I was ready to build my new system. Then this one is getting passed down to my wife. Overall the card is decent. I play a lot of games so performance is key. It out performs the 6800 line and for low cost allows you to prolong your AGP motherboard a few more months. Can handle games like Battlefield 2142, civ 4, Half Life 2 and anything older just fine.

Cons: It runs hotter then I would like and ATI drivers are horrible to say the least. Supreme Commander struggles with this GPU as it does with most.

Other Thoughts: If you want to find a cheap but effective way to prolong your AGP motherboard then look no further unless your willing to spend alot more for a 7900 series. I prefer nvidia for better drivers but my philosophy is always go with whatever gives you the best bang for your buck. Today that is this card.
