5 out of 5 eggsGiving a new/updated review.

Pros: Well it's been quite a long time since I wrote my first review on this card and I must say, it's still in tip top shape. I just built a new pc and didn't have the funds to purchase a new video so I just decided to slap this in and as I expected, it worked like new. I haven't had any kind of problems with this video card ever since I bought it about 2-3 years back so if you're that broke chump that's looking for a really cheap card that can run just about any game on high/medium settings then I would recommend giving this a shot.

Cons: The fan may run a little loud when running a game that has a lot of detail such as COD4, CS:S, WoW, and BF2.

Other Thoughts: Well when I pulled it out of my older pc to put it in my new one, I noticed there was a little bit of browning on the corner. Although, I'm certain that it was because of the poor airflow and cooling of my old pc that caused this so just keep in mind to give this card room to breathe.

5 out of 5 eggsGood card

Pros: Well, I upgraded from a X1300 pro and this was a considerable performance boost. I play Call of Duty 2 and Unreal Tournament 2004, both at 1024 by 768 with medium to high settings and this card plays them smoothly. Doesn't have any trouble playing older games either, such as Quake 2 and Unreal tournament.

Cons: Could get hot after many hours of usage, but stick a fan by it, and I don't think it'll be a problem.

Other Thoughts: I am running a P4 @ 3 ghz, 1 gb of ram, biostar p4m900 mb, HD2600xt, win xp pro. System runs great, cost me less than $300. My case is LOUD so I can't tell if the video card fan is loud or not, but my case didn't get any louder after installing it.

4 out of 5 eggsdecent upgrade

Pros: Seems to run well, noticeable difference from my X1550. Works in XP or Linux (with compiz-fusion), minimal config required if you've done your homework. I play games like Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Oblivion, Guild Wars, at 1280x960 rez with medium-high to high quality settings.

Cons: Initially did not seem to work, the NTSC/PAL jumper was set to PAL for whatever reason. Overheating could be an issue, I've gotten visual artifacts under full-load (there are plenty of ways to increase your cooling).

Other Thoughts: Sapphire customer service is not the most reliable, so if you don't know what you're doing - find someone who does and buy the extra warranty. I've had four Sapphire cards over the years and no returns. Considering a second card for Crossfire (bridges sold separately).

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Met all expectations. For this price range, there is no better video card, in my opinion.

Cons: None.

3 out of 5 eggsA Returner

Pros: Cheap and good upgrade card. Seems to handle some games great

Cons: Bad resolution problems abound. Seems to cause screen shimmer on lower resolutions or in low resolution games. Definitely a returner.

4 out of 5 eggsMid range not bad

Pros: Its cheap and runs newer games at playable frame rates. COD4 I get 125fps at 1024 resolution, with most of the aa off and other detail off. But this is mainly a card for watching hd movies where it passes with flying colors.

Cons: As for the guy below me i had no trouble with anything. And this card is supported by media center edition. As for his sound issue I believe he is talking about ati new way of putting sound on their cards for the transfer through the hdmi to dvi connector. In that case all u have to do is go into ur sound manger and switch back the realtek audio instead of the ati audio.

Other Thoughts: Cheap middle range what more can u ask for

1 out of 5 eggsCaveat Emptor

Pros: Definitely improved video quality.

Made me appreciate not have any problems with my lowly "integrated graphics" card!

I am sure this is a good card for some users/sytems.

Cons: Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware!

Pathetic technical support by ATI. Links on knowledge base pages broken!

There is no indication this card is not compatible with XP MCE. However, after drilling through numerous pages on ATI's website (Sapphire was even worse!) I discovered that this card was not listed as supporting XP MCE. At any rate -- My Media Center stopped working when I installed the card and started working again when I removed it!

Ditto for Sound -- For whatever reason, I got absolutely no sound! (See review by Columbia93). Once again, sound was fine once I removed this card and reinstalled my integrated video drivers.

Box indicates that a minimum 400 Watt Power Supply is required. (I did not see this requirement when I ordered. Accordingly, I upgraded my Power Supply - but that was not a bad thing to do, so no loss there.) However, this would be have been good information to had on the Specs page!

Other Thoughts: Not for the Video Card virgin! Drivers were nasty! Technical support ends at 3 PM on Friday - so don't start installing this on a weekend! If you have problems, you are on your own.

5 out of 5 eggsHD decoding on the cheap

Pros: Bought this for a HTPC that I was planning on playing HD-DVDs on. Has worked flawlessly. Playback is silky smooth.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: Card is pared up with a AMD Athlon X2 3800+ and 1GB of Ram.

1 out of 5 eggsWhat the h***? Did I go deaf?

Pros: Looks nice, easy to install...sort of.

Cons: I had to "install" it several times before it all finally took! Then, I discovered I no longer have sound! ATI tells me to go into BIOS, HP gave me a site to redownload the integrated RealTek'97 driver... Irked and unfortunately for all I can now hear myself think. Haven't installed the new d/l'ing it now. Will let you guys know. The other con is performance. The only game I have that the old integrated graphics wouldn't play except at low crashes with this card. May have to upgrade PSU - another $40 - which is irritating because the guys at gamespot that recommended this card said it would be fine with the PSU I already had.

Other Thoughts: My easy little graphics upgrade has turned into a major pain in the b***. I may be looking at a PSU upgrade for another $40...and I may never hear sounds out of my fantastic speakers ever again! Man I hate change!

1 out of 5 eggsDon't plan on the Rebate!!!

Pros: A great ATI Video card.

Cons: A very poor vender with no USA telephone numbers for contact if you have a problem. I purchaed the Sapphire card on 9-09-2007 and jumped through all the hoops and met all the crazy requirements to apply for the rebate and after all this time and 4 emails to the rebate company I have received nothing. Not even a response.

Other Thoughts: I would strongly recommend buying your ATI based card from anyone but Sapphire!
