2 out of 5 eggsThink twice

Pros: Single slot decent cooling and bundle is nice black box light 3dmark hd cable and great cust service from newegg but..

Cons: Did not include the gift certificate that it says it contians in the box Saphire states newegg will send it out 30 days after ordering the product which is past the amount of time for refund. Then I tried double checking this with newegg who stated that there is no such promotion on this card or any listed on neweggs website. So for some reason my box did not have all of the bundle that it stated it did. Overhyped card think of a station wagon with 3 or 4 spinning rimsm depending upon if you actually got the complete bundle or not. In about a week I will post my full set up including the benchmarks of this vs a zotac 8800gt

Other Thoughts: Sent card back to Newegg thought about paying 150$ more for the 3870 x2. But could not afford so decided to get 229$ 8800 gt since my girlfriend stated she did not want me to spend anymore on her computer i got the gt instead which is cheaper now it doesn't come with a bundle but benchmarks for it do hold better then the 3870 atomic. I'm not a fan boy of either ati or nvidia but 229 (could even get a decent 3870 single slot for about 230 also for the ati route) for better/equal performance with no bundle vs 300 dollar card with a some extras id say don't make the same mistake I did and go with a cheaper card and save 70 bucks for another part or make your own bundle and give it to yourself!

5 out of 5 eggsAddendum to my review

Pros: Raising my review since I have learned a tiny bit with regards to tweaking the current crop of ATI drivers...some of the flickering problems I mentioned still exist, but are much more rare now, so much that it's an exception.

Cons: None, my one "con" from my first review is mostly resolved

Other Thoughts: To the "fanboi" arguements, including this "Tommmmmmybooooy" guy. Not saying you are, but who's to say you're not "fanboi" number one? And you know what, I can crank up anti aliasing and everything else on the cards, they still seem as fast just eyeballing a game, but see my 3dmark06 score drop a good 3000 points. And yes, that's in the driver, NOT the 3dMark06 settings. So...did you fiddle with the drivers? :P I own these cards, I'm debating getting a 3870x2 in a couple months, and running them crossfirex with one of these, putting the other in my spare PC..but I know a 3870 in framerates, EVERYTHING else being equal INCLUDING driver settings won't quite beat a 8800gt. :P will come close, but won't quite top it.

And no, I'm not a fanboi. If Nvidia comes out with something in a bit that makes these look terrible, these go into the spare PC, the new Nvidia product into the main. If ATI does it, then I'll get the new ATI one.

5 out of 5 eggsi does out perform an 8800gt...

Pros: im still using my same system i had from my questionable moneyspending quest for a good gaming rig. and i stumbled upon the 8800gt... it was good and i used it for a good while. mind you this is all based on out-of-the-box specs.

Cons: i dont have this card specifically, but i do have a 3870. and after switching videocards and playing games and using 3d mark, ive discovered that i get around 14,900 with the 8800gt and about 15,600 with the hd3870. no hardware changes made. still running phenom 9600, 4gb corsair dominator 1066, and still have raid. did not upgrade anything ecpt the gpus.

Other Thoughts: so to shut both of you fan boys up and show a collective review, i think that this card DOES INDEED out perform an out-of-the-box 8800gt. and im planning on buying three more for my MSI K9A2 Platinum.

4 out of 5 eggsI actually own the card, real review.

Pros: I actually own the card. In fact, I have two of them in Crossfire mode. Overall, like it very much. 3dmark06 at 1280x1024, I get about 20,400 or so each time, CPU is a QX9650 OCed to 4.0 ghz. My 8800GTX, same system I'd get about 15,400 on 3dmark06. Easy to set up, Crossfire is just one click. Package is loaded (although they did spell "Atomic" as "Atomc" on one place in the box, fortuntly not on the card itself) with goodies, including some nice game offers.

Cons: Hit an odd problem with the drivers, thus the minus 1 egg. In crossfire mode, some games it likes to "flicker". To be specific, in EQ2 it will flicker in Crossfire mode, one card it's fine. This is using both the driver on the CD (7.11) and latest as of my post (8.1). Doing some tweaking of the games .ini files and setting gamma each time in game is a workaround, but still midly annoying. Add back in the one egg if they fix this issue soon with the driver. Again, other games this happens too from what I understand, not just EQ2.

Other Thoughts: Sapphire said this card was only going to be 10 to 15 dollars over their normal card. It's 50 here on Newegg. Yes, I bought them anyway, and I feel they are still a good value given the package, a lot of free stuff in the bundle. Since I bought them anyway, I won't minus an egg for this possible price hike...I usually don't minus a rating for price if I'm willing to pay it. Anyway...I've had good ATI cards, good Nvidia. Not a fanboi of either, so hopefully this will be seen as an honest review.

5 out of 5 eggsDiscrepancies and Variables Good Sir.

Pros: Yes, that's right variables and Discrepancies. Just because your friend gets a lower fps than you do doesn't mean it out performs anything. If your system and his don't right down to the teeth than it doesn't matter how much you outperform his because they are two completely different systems and you have what I call skewed results.

Cons: Fettster doesn't have the slightest clue on how to properly review a product. Just because your a fanboy of ATI doesn't mean you have to go around spreading FUD. and this is coming from someone who owns this card and a previous generation nVidia card and I do enjoy this one much better.

Other Thoughts: If you really want to prove this card does outperform the G92 cores then borrow his 8800GT and place into into you system instead of doing a cross-system analysis where every little detail can cause skewed results. Now if your wonder what kind of variables I refer to (brace yourself big list) motherboards, memory, chipsets, processor, hard drives, BIOS revision, memory timings, operating systems, background processes, driver revision, monitor resolution, anti-aliasing level, anisotropic filtering level, amount of memory, cpu voltage, memory voltage, BIOS settings, and I am sure their are handful more.

Just check any of the reviews available online, here's two.

If NE happens to remove them again, just search google for 3870 atomic. The first review is by overclockers club and the second is by elite b*st*rds.

5 out of 5 eggsContinued

Pros: It does indeed out perform the 8800 GT, proven by my frame rates compared to my friends frame rates and overall quality in performance...noobs and their not checking the facts and testing it themselves.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: test it yourself before you review, nublets

5 out of 5 eggsas good

Pros: its fairly amazing...its only more expensive than the original by about 20$

considering all the things it comes with ..u pay 80$ for things 100+ sepperatly i do plan to buy this card but i gotta wait

a good hdmi cable is 80$ alone...

Cons: doesnt out preform the 8800

its red..

Other Thoughts: the 8800 definitely wins in gaming performance..but its a horrible card to buy, if thts not the only reason your buying it

ati concentrates on all around perfection while they don't catch up in gaming..watching a vid or dvd is always magnificent

5 out of 5 eggsDoes NOT out perform the 8800GT

Pros: It is a single slot card solution that comes with a nice factory overclock and runs cooler than the reference dual-slot cooler designs without sacrificing noise. It also comes with a very nice bundle of bonus accessories, like Black Box (HL2:EP2, TF2, and Portal), CCFL Lights, HDMI Cable, $30 Gamestop Gift, 3DMark 06, and some Cyberlink DVD Software.

Cons: It is only marginally faster than a stock 3870 and does not outperform the 8800GT or 8800GTS 512.

Other Thoughts: People like fettster need to have their facts examined because this card doesn't outperform the 8800GT or the 8800GT 512.

5 out of 5 eggsThe one graphics card to rule them all

Pros: It DOES out clock, and out perform the 8800GT and GTS. It's really cool, clocks outstanding, runs everything max settings. Probably buy another and Crossfire.

Cons: Nothing. not a single thing at all. i'm shocked

Other Thoughts: AMD/ATI...wow "For the win" is inappropriate?

5 out of 5 eggsHands down, best ATI card

Pros: Huge upgrade from 2600xt, running all games on max settings while running 10 degrees cooler than my old card.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: For those running due to the price, bundle comes with plenty of extras, free copy of the black box, gift certificate to gamestop, HDMI cable, PowerDVD, DVD Suite and 3dmark software.
