Artifacting
- Pros: Good price for the features
- Cons: Started artifacting after about 3 weeks. Manually increased the fan speed; even tried running it slower than stock speed; tried different ATI driver sets...all to no avail. Just filed an RMA to return it and I'll try another brand.
Incredible card
- Pros: Great card. Handles most anything I throw at it.
- Cons: Runs a bit hot, had to nail the fan up to 30% and it was somewhat lowered. The little dial indicates that the temp range it was running at was fine, but it made nervous so I ran up the fan a bit using CCC.
- Other Thoughts: This card was beating the pants of the NVIDIA 260. Soon after I bought it, NVIDIA released a 260/216..meaning it had 216 cores which was much more than the old one and mine no longer beat it. To boot, everyone lowered their prices, not cool. I still like it, but if the price of the 260/216 came down to the 220 bucks mark, I would go for that instead.
Happy with this card
- Pros: At first I couldn't believe how hot this card ran, but that is easily fixed with the ATI 'catalyst control center' that comes with ATI's drivers now. Just up the fan speed another 10% and it will run MUCH, MUCH cooler. If you keep upping the fan speed, it will get pretty loud, though
- Cons: This card is big so make sure you have room for it. But all of the high end cards that are coming out now are just as big, if not bigger
- Other Thoughts: The performance and image quality with this card is incredible. Having a lot of fun maxing out all settings in the games that I play, and still getting playable FPS :)
