Sapphire brings the power of graphics ‘supercomputing’ to enthusiasts with their Vapor-X Radeon HD 4890 card. Built on Sapphire's original Vapor Chamber Technology, this card will bring the benefits of Vapor-X cooling - quieter and more efficient cooling - to a wider range of users.

The Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon HD 4890 card has 1GB of high-performance GDDR5 memory, clocked at 1050MHz and the GPU core is clocked at 870MHz. Supporting AMD CrossFireX technology, two high-speed connectors on each card allow two or more cards to be used together for enhanced performance when installed in a CrossFireX compatible motherboard.

The Radeon HD 4890 incorporates the latest ATI Avivo HD Technology for enhanced video display, and features a second generation built-in UVD 2 (Unified Video decoder 2) for the hardware accelerated decoding of Blu-ray and HD DVD content for VC-1, H.264 and MPEG-2 codecs, considerably reducing CPU load. The card’s HDMI and DisplayPort connectors supports multi-channel audio formats (up to 7.1) and combines audio and video output on a single cable for direct connection to an HDMI ready or DisplayPort ready display. Support for DirectX10.1 ensures the optimal performance and application compatibility with all DirectX10.1 applications and enables stunning 3D graphics and shading effects in the latest DirectX10.1 games.

5 out of 5 eggsSapphire Forever. Really.

Pros: Whatever you do, Don't try to save money by buying some halfway brand.. Sapphire means Business.

Cons: It's not brand new anymore.

Other Thoughts: It runs cool even when I mildly overclock it for gaming.

5 out of 5 eggs4890 Vapor-X

Pros: Runs cool, fast and graphics quality is very good, OC easily and good numbers too. Overall a good card for the $100.00 I paid for it.

All Pro's

Cons: No Con's

Other Thoughts: Could of gotten 2 x 4870's for $150.00 to crossfire em, hmmm, still was a good upgrade from my old 8800GTX that still runs everything great as long as resolution is 1280 X 1024. If it serves me half as well as the 8800 GTX I will be a happy camper.

5 out of 5 eggsFAST!

Pros: I was a little skeptical about how this card would perform on my system, but it clearly blew away my expectations. it runs Crysis maxed out on my machine (1440x900) with ease, stays quiet, and looks pretty cool with the lights.

Cons: nothing i can honestly think of

5 out of 5 eggsGreat deal

Pros: This is a great deal! I compared it to the newer cards and found that this card it only slightly slower, and far less expensive.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I plan to buy another one to use in the crossfire mode, and will have more performance than the more expensive single cards.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Able to run almost every game maxed @ 1680x1050 except for a few games (i.e. Crysis, max without AA, Fallout 3 drops frames from time to timewith max everthing). The card looks great, nice blue LED and is pretty quiet for the most part.

Cons: The fan makes a small buzz when my computer first powers on but goes away after about 10 - 20 seconds. Could be a defective fan or something but I can live with it. The card is thick, requires 2x6-pin power connectors and is pretty long, ensure that your case has the room and a decent power supply.

Other Thoughts: This card isn't the fastest but for the price versus an Nvidia equivalent to performance, its a great deal and the option of going crossfire is a plus.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Card!

Pros: I have an older system, dual core 1.8ghz intel, with 2gb of ram. I can run pretty much any game on all high settings. It looks great hooked to my 32 inch LCD with an HDMI cable. It is very very quiet, I can't even hear the card.

Cons: None, other than the card is massive. Just make sure you have room in your computer.

1 out of 5 eggsNot so good

Pros: Well, if there is a pro, it ran good for about 4 hours

Cons: I bought a 2 GB version of this card for my son for christmas. I gave it to him early, and we went and upgraded his computer with a new 680 watt power supply and this card. He was so happy. He played WOW at 80 frames in high detail. The next day, the screen went to a bunch of white blocks and the computer shut off. I pulled the video card and put it in my PC. It would not boot. I get no support responses from anyone. Looks liek I'm out of my money. Dont buy this card!

Other Thoughts: Do not buy this card! It will burn up FAST!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Performance and Value

Pros: I have anti-aliasing and anistropic filtering maxxed out, and this card still delivers 60+ FPS while playing Team Fortress 2 and Two Worlds. Excellent value, especially considering its performance cannot get better.

If you have an older power supply, the retail version comes with conversion power cables.

Cons: The card is a behemoth, and just barely fits in my HTPC case. Does not support DX 11.

Other Thoughts: For a sub-$200 card, this is simply the best. NVidia has fallen behind ATI in the graphics card arena, both in performance and price.

If you want the best performance for your money buy this card. Otherwise, stick with NVidia if you enjoy being ripped off.
