4 out of 5 eggsASUS 6600GT- Good Card for the $$

Pros: When SLI'ed together they run current games with almost all setting cranked up to MAX. Runs cool (56C) under heavy load, excelent OC'ing software when run as a single card.

Cons: Fan on VC is not cheap but I did have one die on me that was returned to ASUS and replaced with a new one. Otherwise good card for $$

Other Thoughts: I NEWEGGED this card to complete my system with SLI. For Running BF2, HL2, Halo, etc, all video settings are maxed and AA is on 2x. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! If you can spring for a 6800 or one of the newer 7000 series go for it but if you are on a budget, drop $300 and SLI it!!

5 out of 5 eggsLaser Gun, PEW PEW PEW!

Pros: This thing screams in Red Orchestra, CoD2, all the GTA3, WoW. All my games I have it maxed out and this thing doesn't blink. Fan is quiet, I can't even tell my PC is on.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: Software bundled is nice to add to an awesome card. Great purchase.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It was a formidable card, in its own day

Free jet engine with the purchase of ASUS video card

Cons: -Most other jet engines are quieter

-Plastic jet engines tend to get vaporized in plane crashes, which can lead to conspiracy theories about the plane actually having been a missile

Other Thoughts: In all seriousness, this and my six-year old primary HDD are the only two things in my system actually making noise; everything else is whisper quiet. It doesn't actually seem that loud, but when you can't hear your right speaker over it, you've got a problem. I'll probably watercool it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card, Great Price

Pros: The card has been installed for a year and is running great! I can run FarCry on Med/High settings with no issues and FS9 runs pretty smooth as well with somewhat High settings w/ 25 FPS. Gr8 budget card!

Cons: If you're looking for max performance and zero anti-alliasing, this is not the card.

Other Thoughts: Specs: P4 3.2, 1GB RAM, Asus P5-GDC-V Deluxe 915G, Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS

5 out of 5 eggsFan now glows

Pros: With new Nvidia drivers can be used in SLI with older 6600GT cards. SmartDoctor runs cranks the speed to 520+. Great card, great price. COD2 @ 500-1000fps in SLI with SmardDoctor!

Cons: Not a 7000 series...

Other Thoughts: If you are going to SLI your cards, consider that the case may need to be modded to handle the heat generated by 2 gpu's.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good card for the money. The 6600GT is an older GPU but it still holds its own, making it a good budget card.

Cons: Inadequate for my needs. It's a gerat card if you're looking for a budget card, but I should've done more research.

Other Thoughts: The 6600GT: Behind the times. I'm running an Athlon 64 3500+ and it's really not adequate. When playing games like GTA III, it does momentarily freeze every now and then. It is probably the nicest card we have though.

The card itself: Seems to be built well, but when it got here, one of the RAM heatsinks was crooked and one of them wasn't even adhered to the card. I pressed it back on but later it fell off again. So I cleaned some of the TIM off of the back of the HS and stuck it back on again. Every now and then I give it a squeeze to keep it seated and it's stayed on. But I guess I couldn't see the underside of the card, and when I stuck it back on now it's crooked too, and some of the RAM is hanging out. As a result of this and probably because the connection isn't that great, those two RAM chips are running a little hot. I'll have to get some Arctic Alumina epoxy to adhere it permanently.

5 out of 5 eggsMemory

Pros: see other thoughts

Cons: see other thoughts

Other Thoughts: Just thought I might add that if you do some checking that 128 mb cards are 9 out of ten times faster and more stable than the 256 mb cards. This is a very good card but then thats what to expect from Asus most of the time.

Pros: ja

Cons: ja

Other Thoughts: I just bought one of these for my system and it seems to be running smoothly so far. I plan to get another of these very soon to run SLI.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Afordable Card!

Pros: -Excelent value, it plays the high end games well but costs less than half some of the high end cards.
-Great software support from ASUS, they release new software for this and other products fairly regularly.
-Great overclocking potential, I own the "TOP" version of this card which comes stock with a 550mhz core and 1100mhz memory (I could be wrong on the mem specs). I now have the core up to around 570mhz stable and 1180mhz memory stable all with stock cooling. It's been running this way for over six months and I'm sure that with better cooling I could probably hit even higher clocks.

Cons: -This isn't really a con but I would like to do SLI but can't find the "TOP" version of this anywhere. If the standard TD version of the card will work than it will solve the problem. If anyone has tried this succesfuly and could offer any info it would be much appreciated.

Other Thoughts: -I suppose improvements could be made to this card in some way but compared to others of it's price range it is a great card.
-My only gripe is I can't find the exact model that I already have for SLI but it may end up not being a problem.

Highly Recommended!
