2 out of 5 eggsnot great...

Pros: Good performance, gives good fps

Cons: After 2 days it overheated to the point where it gave me a WHITE screen, gave several blue screens probably due to bad hardware, fan is not adjustable with any (at least) mainstream programs, ASUS temperature monitoring not reliable.
ASUS is no longer a reputable company...

Other Thoughts: I RMA'd the card after a few days - got an evga instead. ASUS, you can do better!

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great price with rebate, "pretty" card

Cons: I bought two for a four monitor setup. One card began to die in a few days, pink screens then blank. The other card was great. Great Newegg return policy but sadly Asus changed item numbers, so an exchange was not allowed. Both cards were EN8800GT/G/NTDP/512M RT, but different item numbers?????. Newegg allowed me to return the good card and I went with two BFG 8800GT's. Asus box was way to big, lots of wasted space.

Other Thoughts: Compared to the Asus, the BFG's are a bit smaller size wise and are heavier and more solidly built (thicker board, heat sinks don't wiggle), with a smaller but quieter fan assembly. More expensive but probably worth it. Newegg and I couldn't understand why Asus changed the item numbers but left the description the same. I don't think BFG plays those games. Also, the BFG"s came in a much smaller box and were better packed.

5 out of 5 eggsThis card rocks!

Pros: It's been a long time since I've bought a brand new card, usually I scavenge off my friends who keep more updated. Coming from a 7800GTX, this thing is awesome! And the price is right, even with the HD 4850 on the market. I was able to hit a 700mhz OC out of the box.

Cons: I don't have SLi on my board to buy two.

Other Thoughts: Brand new E8400/ OCZ 2gb DDR2 800/ASUS EN8800GT = I'm happy!

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent graphics card

Pros: runs cool, run fast, runs quiet.. what else can you possibly want from a graphics card?

Cons: card a tad long. not much room at the back (to plug in PCIE power) if you do that often.

Other Thoughts: in my previous machine, my graphics card was the loudest component. with this one, the graphics card is far more quiet than the case fan.. i found that *amazing*

5 out of 5 eggsGood card

Pros: Way better than my 7300 GT!!! Absolutely blows me away with it's capabilities. Able to crank the settings on all of my games now. No problems with installation.

Cons: Doesn't have passive cooling, but that would nearly impossible with the heat output of one of these things. Drivers are not exactly simple to install.

Other Thoughts: Would definetely buy again. Comes with a game too.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet

Pros: Performs great! Portal is smooth as butter at 1680x1050 with settings maxed out. The card itself looks nice too. The bundled stuff like the cd case was cool too. Seems to be working fine on my 500w PSU with only 22a on the single 12v rail.

Cons: None so far. I had one problem but it's just a driver issue, which Nvidia seems to have some trouble with here and there.

Other Thoughts: I had heard some bad stuff about the packaged utilities and drivers, so I didn't even bother with em. Didn't need them anyway, and all is well without them. Card fit just right in my Smilodon case, which is an ATX tower. If you have something smaller you may need to check to see if it'll fit.

5 out of 5 eggsasus rocks

Pros: it fits the price catagory it's in perfectly

does all you need with some nice bells and whistles: hd, sli, 650mhz

Cons: sharp heat sink, very big card

Other Thoughts: if youre running at 60 C then you seriously need to continuously blow on your machine to keep it cooler while you play

or take off the side case panel and buy a house fan

50 C makes me nervous

im never above 46 C on the motherboard

hire someone to blow on your computer parts, or call the fire dept.

dont be disrespecting any companies when something stops working

the cpu chips come with a warning, dont run above 38 C

4 out of 5 eggsAsus 8800 GT 512meg

Pros: Good cooling, good package, ease of installation, good speed and quality overall

Cons: S-video doesn't work for me (doesn't detect my TV). I tried using the composite and my TV is detected as HDTV, but it gives out garbled output.

Other Thoughts: As always, newegg has been real quick with the shipment, I made the order on Sunday and I received it today. Installation was a breeze, I own a HP d4990y and it installed with a lot of room to spare. Plays Age of Conan at high settings (minus the bloom effect) at 32 fps.

My main problem with this is, somehow the S-video out doesn't work for me. Looking around and tried to find the fix on the internet don't provide me with any solution. Anyone had a problem with that before?

2 out of 5 eggsBetter choices available...

Pros: The card is priced right and there are lots of extras in the box. So if you can get it to work for you, in an acceptable manner, you have a good deal. Newegg is great when it comes to customer satisfaction and had no problem with an RMA for this card.

Cons: I have to say that I was pretty disappointed in this card. It fit in my case with no problems, but then the true problems began. Installation on Vista was simple enough, and I was prepared to install the unique ASUS software to read the temps and manage the fan. The software on the disc in the box did not agree with my system, and shortly after install I had a Blue Screen= Fatal Error...Video Memory Error, etc. I went to the ASUS web site and downloaded updated drivers and utility software. That was a pain, because the USA download site was constantly busy and the international sites ran at what seemed to be dialup speed. Finally, I found that the card idled at 60C, which is much warmer than I expected. But no matter what I tried, I could not get any software combination to adjust the fan. I tried several driver and ASUS Utility versions, but could not find anything to control the fan. After another blue screen and some unique artifacts, I decided the card was not for me.

Other Thoughts: ASUS has a fine reputation and I have an older ASUS graphics card that has performed well, but this was a bad experience. The 8800 GT that I got from Newegg to replace this one was a simple plug-and-play solution from a different manufacturer. I am very satisfied with the other card. It cost more money, but was easily worth it!!!
