5 out of 5 eggsNot bad so far

Pros: Runs Daz Studio reasonably well, has high memory and excellent display. Despite being stored for almost a year it works flawlessly, nice shelf life.

Cons: No pixel buffer. Not nvidia. (I'm a nvidia girl) No fan. (I would feel better knowing that a fan is keeping it cool instead of just a heatsink)

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my mom before we found out that her board only went up to AGI, I thought it needed pcie Anyhow, we set it back for when I update her computer this spring. Instead my own graphics card went out on me, forcing me to use hers. After some minor trouble, involving removing the crashed and burned out card from the computer, I got it working without a problem. I didnt bother with the disk, I prefer to get the most up to date drivers upon install. Anyhow, over all, after a day installed I am happy with it and it will do for a temporary card until I settle on one with some piplines and other frills. Since I work with 3d graphics I need a good solid card that won't konk out on me half way through a render. This one renders okay, but slow, about half the speed of my old one but it will work until I can replace it.

3 out of 5 eggsnew review

Pros: See other thoughts

Cons: see other thoughts

Other Thoughts: Well, its been a good long run with this card, but i have just learned that this thing really doesnt like long term folding, especially when overclocked. running it at 610mhz/305mhz, i was doing fine for weeks. A few days ago, my folding rig tanks. I thought it was because of my CPU undervolt. Well today, after it crashed again and i got it going again at stock everything, it lasted maybe 30 seconds before it conked out yet again. Now running on onboard video for that board.

Word of advice to all those who seek this card: It is great if you need an HTPC card or something to breathe some life back into that aging P4 system that has a PCI-E slot. Its fairly speedy, gets the basic job done, but it cannot withstand the constant strain of folding. If you seek this as a cheap folding card, dont. Spend the money on something like a 4670 or GT 240 as they are better built to withstand extended full load.

3 out of 5 eggsNeeds a fan

Pros: No real problems with the card, seems to do fine under moderate game play but can't handle some new games totally maxed out. Good product for the price

Cons: My system started to blue screen on occasion and it turned out to be the graphics card overheating and shutting off. I added an extra fan to keep it cool which fixed the problem but eliminated the whole "silent cooling" thing.

Doesn't handle overclocking well. May have been largely due to the overheating problem but whenever I tried to overclock any aspect of the card it would cause the computer to crash.

Other Thoughts: Overall not a bad card but unless you have an extremely well cooled case plan on needing a fan on the card if you put it under any real strain. Still for about $40 it is a good card but not a great card.

4 out of 5 eggsIts ok.... could be better

Pros: Decent little card, not as good as my 7900GS, but then again i didnt get it to replace the 7 series tank in my gaming rig.
Runs quiet, and fairly cool when not under load
CCC works just fine
works good for a folding card although it doesnt get through many work units quickly
can crack 700mhz overclocked, although sustained for extended periods of time at full load it can become unstable and crash the system. Thank ATI for the automatic underclocking when not under load.

Cons: when loaded it gets pretty toasty, temps were hitting 65C. I removed the heatsink and examined the thermal material and was rewarded with some cheap pink gunk that blocked more heat than it transferred. Took an hour to get it off the heatsink and GPU, and then after putting some OCZ thermal grease on it, load temps dropped 5C.
The heatsink is terrible, there is not enough surface area on it to effectively cool a card running 24/7 at >95% load, i had to mod a 40mm fan to the heatsink and now temps dont break 50C. -1 egg for the thermal problems.

Other Thoughts: I got this card free along with a pile of other parts sent to me by my college, and after upgrading my main rig with some of the parts, i reused the older parts, and this card, and threw together a folding rig.

its now coupled with:

Athlon 64 x2 3800+ S939
MSI Albacore MS-7093 motherboard
4GB Crucial DDR 333 @ 200mhz 3-2-4-8 (set for stability, not performance)
20GB HDD
300W Allied power supply
and a cheap case that came with the parts

reels in about 1800-3000 points a week depending on the work unit size, and chews through one once every 18 hours or so

2 out of 5 eggsCard Has Expiration Date

Pros: Good price, EZ to set up.

Cons: Bothe HDMI and VGA connections died exactly 1 yr after purchase. PC boots up, just no picture from either port. Nothing changed, just one day, poof!

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of these, one still works. I would ask for a replacement, but conveniently, thats the warranty limit. Just a matter of time for the other one i guess. Keep shopping for deals.

4 out of 5 eggsGood card for the money

Pros: Easy install, no fan, worked as it should on first try, runs cool enough, no issues streaming Hulu, YouTube, or any other internet TV or videos, and Blu-Ray playback looks really good.

Cons: Heatsink is large and blocks other slot, but you kinda gotta know that going in based on the pictures of this thing. Image displayed does not fill the entire screen on my 61" TV. Falls short by about an inch on the sides and 1/2 inch along the top and bottom, but its hardly noticeable.

Other Thoughts: I followed the advice from others and went to the ASUS site for the latest drivers. Didn't even use the disc that came with it. This was my first attempt at a HTPC so I wanted to keep costs as low as possible. This card does the trick.

5 out of 5 eggsNice card...

Pros: Small, Affordable, Produces decent quality graphics. I was expecting a pci power plug to be plugged in but it didn't need one so tthat was cool. Anything from asus is always good! Nice max resolution sizes and no noise! :D. Great for smaller rigs.

Cons: Super Super hard setup for windows 7 x64bit via the install cd. I had installed it through the CD then had to delete it and then went to the website to download the drivers to find out the drivers are for vista x64 but compatible with 7 x64.

Other Thoughts: bought this for a smaller build for a client. They were impressed and really loved the turn out how the whole computer ran. $230 later...

5 out of 5 eggsWorks As Advertised

Pros: No Fan noise. Easy Install. I put two of these in the same box so I could have three monitors. I am using windows 7 and have had no problems.

Cons: Its a basic video card.

Other Thoughts: I don't do gaming, so I don't know if it can handle WOW at 4,000 frames per second.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for the price.

Pros: Silent, low-profile capable, good build quality, decent power for the price.

Got mine in a combo with an Athlon II 635...can't beat this for $13.

Cons: The only real con I see is that the heatsink appears to be made to have air blowing from the side, rather than the rear. If your case has a side fan, this is a bonus, but some HTPC cases may cause this to run a little hot.

Other Thoughts: Make sure to download the newest version of ATI's catalyst drivers.

This is powerful enough to run most older games, and anything on the Source engine. I can play Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Half Life 2/LC/DM, and Garry's Mod with good frame rates and decent settings. I imagine Counter Strike: Source would be about the same. Won't max Crysis or anything, but it's great for a casual gamer. Would run WoW or anything similar just fine. Its best use is in an HTPC though, due to its low-profile capability and passive cooler. It's easily powerful enough for 1080p blu-Ray playback.
