re: specs
- Pros: Had ASUS read me the specs over the phone. They said it was 512Mb of 192 bit DDR3 memory. I asked them stream processors, they said 96. What more confirmation do you need? Best gso here.
- Cons: Best for 1280x1024 or 1440x900 or less.
Great Card
- Pros: Great Card!!! ASUS did a great job on this card and the cooler is not cheaply made according to other comments made. Came with a copy of COD World at War for FREEEEEEE!!!!!!
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: I have purchased 6 of these cards this year for low budget gaming PC's. All have worked great and play video games great as long as they are set moderately on the graphic settings in high intense games. COD4 / COD World at War / WOW / Steam games all play smooth. Buy it and take advantage. If you want an SLI rig and your on a budget get 2!
Great Card
- Pros: I believe this is one of nVidia's/ASUS's most well-made cards. I bought this originally a while back as the sole gfx card in my machine, and it has performed great. I just recently bought a second one for SLI, and my framerates are generally 220+ in CSS and 180+ in DoDS with all settings MAXED and EXTRA OPTIONS (SLI 32xQ) enabled via nVidia's ForceWare drivers at 1920x1080. Oblivion looks better than it ever has, plus using ForceWare I've made Spore look fantastic... For newer games like Fallout 3, the card will do nearly anything you ask of it.
- Cons: It generates heat. All cards do, but having to SLI these right next to each other, the fans that are on the cards and the ones on my case haven't been able to keep them cool, so I took the side off of my case and put a real fan there. Like, the one that actually cools the house. Works great now!
- Other Thoughts: I would have taken an egg off for the heat issue, however this card is awesome. I believe the 9600 GSO is better than the 9800's from nVidia (which for some reason have had a lot of technical issues, and seem to get the same, if not WORSE framerates) -- In my opinion: Best in the 9 Series.
