Awesome
- Pros: Performs amazingly well. Overclocks to perform faster then the top of the line nvidia cards. Great fans and heatsink keep it well within temps.
Itracker software is an awesome resource. I have my card turn off its fans when in 2d mode (once at low temps) and it sits at about 48C. so its a silent GTX 260.
- Cons: The asus Itracker software does not like Windows 7 very much and has a hard time changing between 2d and 3d settings, sometimes causing problems (crashed once or twice).
Without the itracker software the card is super loud.
It is a good card... I like it.
- Pros: Fast, runs cool (when fans are running). It looks like an effective cooling system.
- Cons: Length. I have a large full tower case, but my bottom HD rack is pretty deep. I had to take pliers to it and adjust an area designed for ridgedness. Very tight. I was actually sweating it!
iTracker is a piece of garbage. Too much effort to make it pretty and not enough to make it functional and user intuetive. And I give them a F- for their effort to make it pretty. It is plain ugly. As the saying goes... It fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.
- Other Thoughts: This isn't a con since I am not fully aware of what happened; however, the fans turned off somehow during a game and the monitor turned a solid color and locked the pc up. Before I restarted the pc, I checked the card and it was extremely hot and putting off a burning odor. The fans were not on. I haven't had a problem since, but I have also uninstalled iTracker to be on the safe side. I don't OC anyways.
Good purchase for some
- Pros: As expected this is a quality product from Asus, and everything about the card and packaging make that apparent from the very first moment. The included "iTracker" software is okay, and has the advantage of giving you an easy interface to adjust the GPU & memory voltages. You can also configure both fan speeds independently, and set up a four-stage cooling solution. Speaking of wich, the cooler is (situationally) very effective. Of course, the best thing about this card is that the components are top notch: I'm running mine with a 1742 shader clock right now. I haven't pushed the core or memory speeds to their limits, but I have exceeded the stock rates for "superclocked" cards from other manufacturers.
- Cons: The "iTracker" software (apart from having a silly name) doesn't allow you to key in all values directly, and in general tries too hard to be visually impressive rather than functional. The cooling solution on this card is worse than the reference design if you don't have good airflow inside your case. I moved from a Cosmos to a HAF and it had a huge impact on the temps for this card, but a minimal impact on the reference style card I own.
- Other Thoughts: The PCB on this card is exactly the same length as the reference GTX260. In the future I hope Asus considers offering both "pretty" and "functional" interfaces for their tuning software. It's quite annoying to not be able to directly key in clock speeds and voltages but have the option to do so for fan speeds. I also find that, on the whole, the software is slow and not as reliable as other options for configuring speeds.
