1 out of 5 eggsblack screens with SLi

Pros: Heat sink looks like it could keep the space shuttle cool

Cons: Bought one of these cards to upgrade from my NX8600GT cause it was having issues with Windows 7 64. Installed the ENGTS250 and everything worked fine, games were playing all high settings flawlessly, HOWEVER upon multi-tasking while watching a movie at the same time this New card had the same issue as my 8600, with Windows 7 64bit the drivers fail quite often and have to be recovered. Ive tried older drivers with updates, Ive tried fresh install of latest updates etc etc. Since it played games so well I figured I could get over the driver movie issue. I bought a 2nd card to run SLi. Now NONE of my games will play, they all boot to a black screen and that's it, upon hitting CTRL+ALT+DELETE I get a "game has failed" message box. This could be an ASUS issue or a Nvidia issue not sure yet. I really wish I went with a different manufacturer and ATI now.

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless x2

Pros: Sale price thanx to Newegg. Heat sink looks like it could cool the space shuttle.

1 out of 5 eggsShort Lifespan, Terrible Service

Pros: I owned two within a year and they ran well while they lasted.

Cons: The card died within 6 months, it had some texture rendering issues before it died. All the drivers were up to date, no overclocking, the most intensive thing I ran on it was WoW. I promptly got an RMA and within 3 weeks had another one. Almost exactly 6 months on the dot the second one died, no warning, just the monitor lost signal. It took ASUS over a week to respond to my request (48 hour service, yeah right), and the answer was what's your last RMA number, which I had already provided, had they read the note on my request. Live Chat timed out before ever getting a representative, both times I tried. Now it's been another week, no word on that RMA. Maybe they are stalling until the end of the 3 year warranty.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend getting another card, I just did.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent Card, Short Lifespan

Pros: This Card ran well, albeit loudly. For the time I had it

Cons: Lasted from the 15th of January 2010, until the 17th of May 2010 When it fried.

Other Thoughts: This card is okay for the price, but be prepared to fork out another couple of hundred dollars for a new card within a few months time.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Very nice performances
Sleek design
gets to play almost all my games on high settings
Cheap price for the performances

Cons: BIG, it's a very long card
can be noisy a bit but you only hear it when you exit a game

Other Thoughts: Great deal if you're seeking a great card for a low price
the fan noise is not that much of a problem since when it kicks
in, i'm in a game, so I don't hear it unless I quit the game.

1 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasts. Asus don't honor warranty

Pros: GTS 250 chipset offers great performance for price

Cons: As shown in other reviews, ASUS however have serious quality issues on this card.

After one RMA (for which you'll pay postage) they sent me back the card which now got past the bios post but then failed to display past the BIOS screen.

Request for second RMA was faced with a frankly obnoxious 2nd level tech on the phone telling me it was a driver issue in windows and not the hardware. Funny because my other card works fine and the drivers hadn't changed between the card working one day and being junk the next.

Other Thoughts: If you want a GTS 250 card buy one from a manufacturer that builds quality products and fixes errors rather than intimidates its customers out of their warranty. ie don't go near ASUS

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Asus Customer,

We sincerely apologize if you have experienced difficulty in obtaining your 2nd RMA. We would like to offer our assistance to help resolve this issue. Please email me directly at aps_support@asus.com your most recent case number or RMA number so that I may look into your case. Thank you.

Best Regards,
Don

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cards for SLI

Pros: Capable of triple SLI. Runs super cool in SLI and though they are big cards. The heatsink and fan system is very efficient. Very silent. Easily overclockable and for the money and DDR3 it's worth it.

Cons: Pretty BIG! I suggest using a FULL TOWER when using any of these cards for SLI.

Other Thoughts: Great for people building a high end system on a budget. These smoke through any game I play. Bad Company 2 looks insane. Be sure to tweak your Physx when installing your drivers and setting up SLI!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Card

Pros: - Sweet design
- Decent performance
- Wicked heat pipes
- VGA, DVI, and HDMI

Cons: Can get a little loud. I wouldn't use the included software, it's pretty worthless.

Other Thoughts: First NVIDIA card and glad I made the switch. Worked great out of the box and seems to OC pretty well. Can get a little loud and/or hot under stress, but that is to be expected. Performs well in most games I've tried and handles any media without a hitch. Thinking of adding a second one to go SLI...

5 out of 5 eggsSweet Spot for Vostro 430

Pros: This is basically the high end of what you can put in a Dell Vostro 430. Performs well at 1680x1050 -- better than I expected for the price -- though you'll want to use medium detail for multiplayer shooters. No trouble connecting an LCD TV to the HDMI port.

Cons: The Asus software is horrible. Just download the latest GeForce drivers from nvidia.com -- they include all the features you'll need.

Other Thoughts: My card's fan is fairly quiet, but apparently some are noisy -- there's a BIOS update available to fix it.
