4 out of 5 eggsCheapest PCI express 2.1 card I could find

Pros: Replaced outdated similar card on a vista OS. Small form factor bracket fit just fine with alterations that come in package.

Cons: Little pricey for outdated technology

4 out of 5 eggsWorks but runs hot

Pros: Works, silent, easy installation, supported well by Ubuntu 11.04. Seems like a winner.

Cons: Low performance, But I expected that going into the purchase. What I didn't expect was that this card would run so hot as to increase the temperature in case by more than 5c. Maybe I have poor ventilation, but I still think it is surprising that the card is running at higher than 60c.

Other Thoughts: Recently I have had trouble with Asus Technicial support. So I am not sure if I would buy again.

1 out of 5 eggsDead on Arrival

Pros: DOA

Cons: Unfortunately the card worked incorrectly on both the DVI and VGA outputs, tested in two different slots and with two different monitors. The card is able to POST, but the display is garbled. You can recognize what's on the screen but it's covered with vertical lines and other garbage. Yes, on both outputs, even going digital to a digital monitor. So I think I just got a bad unit.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked for 2 days.

Pros: It's pretty.

Cons: It did not work after 2 days. Windows 7 stopped loading.
I thought it was my memory sticks but it was not. Second I thought it was my hard drive going dead. So I switched out hard drives and that was not the issue. I even blamed it on the motherboard, but the whole time it was this video card.
Lost many hours of life over this defective card.

4 out of 5 eggsI didn't think "Silent" meant...

Pros: Newegg delivered in 24 hours...way to go Newegg:) Beautiful picture once I had the right Catalyst installed, much better than my onboard. Cheap. I like the Smart Doctor feature but woops! I'm running a little hot...

Cons: First, it killed my onboard audio. Called Asus. They said they'd call me back in 30 minutes. Found out through a forum that I had to go into the bios to re-enable it. Fine. Audio back up and running. Second, the picture was glitchy. Even watching dvds was difficult. I called an hour after the first call and they said they'd call me back within 24 hours. "Really, you're going to call me on a Saturday?" That was Friday and it's Monday now. Still no word from Asus.

On a forum (yep, the forum again...because Asus never called me back), I found out that I needed to update to the Catalyst 11.6 driver. That stopped all the freezes, stutter, etc...but the darn thing runs at 64c + when idle. Today, it his 75c after 30 minutes of watching Hulu. I shut the movie down. I knew it was fanless when I ordered it but dang. I ordered two extra fans for my case which should be here tomorrow but at this point I'm thinking RMA. Hopefully, it will all work out.

Other Thoughts: Dang, Asus! I've only just begun to upgrade, building towards a whole new system. I was looking at your other products, but if this is the kind of "support" you offer, I think I'll give the competition a chance. I'm nervous enough about buying my first build's motherboard without being able to reach a helpline. BTW, I called on Saturday and it said you were closed...*face palm*

The irony here is that I went with you because I'd heard good things about your customer support. I think this might be a great product for the money when installed correctly. I'd love to believe this is just a silly oversight. If Asus ever calls me, I'll write a new review.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine

Pros: Great quiet card. Old Lego Racing and adventure games are played by my grandsons but that is about it.

The $15 (-$1 for fast processing) AMEX card came in less than a month...no email notice from rebate center ever came.

Cons: Absolutely none.

Other Thoughts: This is my second ASUS Silent card. One replaced a NIVIDA based Sparkle card on the youngest grandson's computer that simply could not run the old Flying Model Simulator (FMS) program.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Card

Pros: I was able to play my favorite game (Minecraft) While recording a screen in HD.

Cons: With this card in XP there seems to be a bug where he whole computer locks up exept the mouse cursor. If you click something the whole computer locks up.

Other Thoughts: For the Price It is a good card.

4 out of 5 eggsCame free in a combo... or I'd be disappointed.

Pros: I got this free, so the price is good. It handles HD reasonably well.

Cons: I was hoping to play StarCraft II on medium settings, but it's still too choppy. I mostly use it for video, so it's not a huge deal. I just expected more out of a video card.

3 out of 5 eggsIt is not silent

Pros: It works.

Cons: It is very very noisy. Performance is so so.

Other Thoughts: The card runs ok. The rebate did come back after more than 6 months. But it is very noisy in my Dell XPS even during idle. The software is not very good (GameOSD) and could crash or spend some CPU cycles. If you remove it (because I do not need its function), the error message pops up.

3 out of 5 eggsRebate?

Pros: The card suits my needs. I can do 1080p video editing with my P4 3.6GHz and this card just fine. I can do some light gaming. It works as promised.

Cons: Runs very hot. Idles at 68C, under stress up to 87C. So I Bought a six dollar fan, now idles at 42C, 48C under load.

What rebate? I sent mine in, haven't gotten any confirmation on where the rebates at, or when it will get here. I also asked for a rushed service that takes like a week I think. The rebate went from $15.00 to $14.00.

I don't think I'll get it in the mail before I move cities in four months.

Other Thoughts: I think I liked ASUS more before I purchased a product from them. I still like them, just not as much.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Please contact us at Newegg_ASUS_MBSupport@asus.com and provide the details of the rebate so we can make sure you receive the rebate ASAP.

Sincerely,

ASUS Customer Support
