2 out of 5 eggsVery Bad

Pros: None really

Cons: It can not play games in even in low quality without lagging my PC exceeds the recommended system requirements but this graphics card can not even handle a game which on the website it says it runs this game excellently when you look up this graphics card.

Other Thoughts: I would spend a little more to get a graphics card that will work for more things other than just basic usage.

1 out of 5 eggsdo not buy

Pros: Nvidia GT520 is a good product, lots of ram

Cons: bought 5 of these total, with rebates. but when 2 are DOA out of 5 thats not a good ratio even with rebates.
I would not recommend this to anyone unless you get it free.
also the heatsink is huge and hard to fit in a smaller case.

Other Thoughts: im going to probably spend more time and money sending these back than they are worth.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate on previous review

Pros: Replacement card works. Idle temps around 45c.

Cons: Original card had temps in the 90c range, crashed constantly. Paid return shipping for repair. Carefully described the problem.

ASUS returned the original card unrepaired, so I had to return it a second time.

Other Thoughts: Once they sent me a working card, no fan needed for HTPC use.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: Speed, Graphics performance, EXP Index 4.4 in graphics but 6.3 in gaming graphics, works flawlessly with my other ASUS components.
With proper case ventilation and fan control, this can be made to work.

Cons: Bad call on "Silent" heat-sink, I have since added my own mini fan to the unit to keep the temp down bellow 50C. during Sims 3 CAW use.

Other Thoughts: Just offer the same thing with a fan and charge $10 more dollars. It would sell like crazy, trust me.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Silent, with proper air runs cool, two gigs of DDR3, LP for a tight HTPC case excellent PQ in both HD and SD playback. If need be can handle light gaming dudies. Good bang for the buck

Cons: Not that much of a con but the heat sink is large and does eat up the slot below

Other Thoughts: I have good air flow over this card and haven't see it go above 45c I'm not a big fan of the way Nvidia handles overscan but the card itself is fine

1 out of 5 eggsOverheats badly, very disappointed with ASUS support

Pros: Overheats silently.

Cons: I installed the GT520 in an HTPC build and it seemed to work fine, but once I finished the build I found the PC would crash after ten minutes of Blu-ray playback. I installed a temp monitor program and found the reason: an idle temp of 94 C, over 100 C during playback. Never seen a GPU run that hot.

I was past the 30-day return period, so I had to RMA it to ASUS. And pay return shipping.

15 days later, I received a replacement. Installed it and watched the GPU temp quickly rise to 93 C at idle. Blu-ray playback raised it to 102 C until it crashed. Same behavior as before. Same behavior I described in the RMA, and in the note I enclosed with the card.

That's right, they sent me back the same card! Same serial number. After ten days of "repair" in which they apparently did absolutely nothing.

What a waste of time and money. Very angry and disappointed with ASUS support.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Bytefield,

I apologize for your card and your past experiences with ASUS support. Your card should not normally idle at 90C+ temperatures. Even though this is a silent card, you need some airflow to keep the card cool.

Please contact me at cl-jeremy@asus.com with the reference #1043-4711 so that I may help you with your situation.

Regards,
Jeremy
