Great card!
- Pros: Love this card! It's run everything I've thrown at it so far and hasn't missed a beat. I just built a new rig with an E8400, can't wait to put it to the test in my new system! Altho it performed admiralby with my old AMD64 X2 4200+. I LOVE that this card supports the SPDIF out for feeding the audio through HDMI. To bad this isn't in my media center pc, tho. This card is really strong! I came from a 7600GT, and after looking at the specs of the 8600GT I kept waiting. Almost bought an 8800GT and then this card was released! Been happy ever since!
- Cons: This is a fairly BIG card. Well, not so much big as LONG. Make you wish they'd put the PCI-E power port somewhere other than on the very end because it comes close enough to the harddrive cages anyway. Also I see that since I purchased this card it's now half the price. Not that I care much, it is kind of a bite tho.
- Other Thoughts: Still can't get it to serve me breakfast in bed....
Good Card
- Pros: Love the card. Good price to Runs COD 4 at 100 fps.
- Cons: None
Deccent low cost gaming
- Pros: Runs any thign i throw at it so far with ease (minus crysis) it will run it at high setting great or fine witha mix of high and v-high i wouldtn suggest runngin every thing of v-high though i dont really call 16-20 fps playble 9has other reviewers have) even if it only does it a few times in certain spot of the game , all in all a well rounded card for this price , definitely beats what "budget" card used to mean in the old days (late 90's)
also it is single slot design so your case stays roomy
- Cons: i have 2 cons with this card
1. while being a single lot card is a good thing , it is also bad as the hot aire just gets blown around your case's interior instead of imdeiately gettgin blown out of the case. 2. i think my card is slightly faulty , at some points i ahve games crash and at other times the screen will turn a multitude of colors whiel in games, it's nto abig con , as i rarely see tehse two occurances , but they seem to be mopre prevailant on games that use s nwer graphics tech?? this coudla lso be an nivida issue as i ahve heard reccently taht had a large batch of bad GPU's leave thier ware houses , at least mine isnt compeltely worthless ,a s i siad it rarely does the above problems and even then that is not a guarantee that the card is teh thing at fault , any number of things could be causing the issue.
- Other Thoughts: me being the mad gamer i am i will likely replace this with in a year at most, i got oit as a starting point for my newer gaming rig, and it far surpasses the abilites of my old radeon 9700 pro , but at the same time i am left wanting more , it is agreat budget card nay ,i wil say the BEST budget card, but im not a budget card gamer , i perfer the mid rang cards that price around 250-330 even if I have to sell blood /scrounge change for them. so a upgrade is definitely in my future :P but for folks looking for some low dollar gaming fun you can't beat this card
