3 out of 5 eggs7900 GT

Pros: The 7900 GT is a great card. It runs most of the current games just fine. The price is amasing for the performace.

Cons: It was fun while it lasted. The fact that the 7900 GTs(according to some websites) are not good for overclocking because they generate more heat then the other Gforce 7 cards. I bought my card back in August of 2006 and it overheated a few months after that. I had 3 fans on my case just for cooling the video card down. It pretty much fried while it was in idle mode.

Other Thoughts: Great card, but i wouldn't recoment overclocking this card. It's the way it is.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Runs current games very smoothly with no problems on any of the newest titles.

Cons: Initial Vista driver support was terrible. Make sure you download the new drivers or you are going to be crashing on some games.

Other Thoughts: Everything has been running smooth now since about a week after the Vista launch. Kudos to Nvida for updating drivers ever few months.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: I got this card to Overclock to 645 core, and 900 (1800) ram. At this speed it hit 5012 on 3Dmark06. I achieved this with an OCed 3.7Ghz 840 Pentium D with 2Gig of DDR2 Corsair Value Select Ram. A better processor would achieve even higher 3dmarks.

Cons: No Ram Heatsinks. The card wigs out at anything above 646 core and 904 ram. I want another and they're currently out of stock.

Other Thoughts: I added some copper Thermaltake heatsinks to the ram, and removed the stock thermal compound from the GPU and replaced it with Artic silver. I think there's more performance in this card, but it will require water and a volt mod to get it. I'll provide further updates if I get anymore out of it.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Card

Pros: Santa was very good to me. I upgrade from a 6200LE to this. The difference is night and day. The included software is good too. Quake 4 has been hours of fun.

Cons: I haven't been able to install the overclocking utility provided with the card. I haven't looked into it yet, and don't really know what the deal is.

Other Thoughts: I can't wait untill I can afford another to use in SLI.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than I thought it would be...

Pros: Excellent performance on Prey, Quake 4, and F.E.A.R. (40-60fps at 1440x900 and highest settings). Oblivion doesn't perform at such high frame rates, but is still very playable at high settings. The included bundle was pretty good too.

Cons: The power connector took some force to plug in...

Other Thoughts: It's not silent, but it's very quiet. Huge difference from the 6800GT I had before this (which used the reference design's cooling). The 6800GT was the loudest component of my previous computer, and I'm very happy with the low level of noise this 7900GT gives.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and Quiet

Pros: Very quiet card. No problems with the installation. I have even been able to overclock the card to 600 core and 1600 memory!

Cons: It will not make you dinner!

Other Thoughts: Overclocking this card it still runs very cool 43 idle and 48 load

5 out of 5 eggsVery very good!

Pros: I was easily able to get it OC'd slightly
higher than the recent past poster. :)
(with a better cooler; see below)

The included Zalman cooler is decent but
you can do better. I replaced it with
a Zalman VF900Cu, which fits perfectly.

I used the decent stock cooler on another
video board of mine. :)

Cons: None really. Better cooling is the heart
to successful OC'ing.

On the other hand, OC'ing tends to
invalidate your warranty. :(

Other Thoughts: Be very careful if/when you pry off
the stock cooler because the compound
used (by Gigabyte) is very sticky!

Once I got it (heatsink) off, I used
many cotton swabs with iso alcohol
to remove the residue.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty Good Card

Pros: Comes with a nice box that plugs into the card and allows for S-Video, Component, and Composite outputs. Supports 2 monitors w/ 2 DVI outputs. Comes with 2 DVI-VGA adapters. Graphics look great, and runs most games very smoothly with everything cranked.
Comes with software for overclocking.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Overall, this card has been great, I run Flight Simulator X with the graphics cranked with the exception of just a few features that are barely noticeable. Typical frame-rates are 15-30fps at these settings.

5 out of 5 eggsLooks like a sleeper

Pros: I didn't want this card, but i ended up with it after the Gto's went out of stock, But to my surprise this card Oc's to near GTX speeds. Mem runs @ 800 with ease once you install some ramsinks, i've gotten the core to run @ 635, without any issues, but i'm pretty sure it's the stock fan's weakness. The core will clock up to 675 with a proper fan.

Cons: Only 256Mb of ram but hey it can still run quake 4 on Ultra with a little OC'ing

The stock cooling is no way adequate, but the copper model of the same fan should be, The thermal whatever that GB used is almost solid when you get the card so taking off the fan to put some thermal grease on it is a must. ram sinks are also a requirement The card can't even run stock speeds without stuttering without them.

Other Thoughts: The card itself is downright fantastic thought Gb's cooling decisions seem a little misguided, They picked the right fan but didn't use the copper model, and you don't get the ramsinks that comes with the fan at retail. be prepared to pay another 40 bucks for a proper cooling solution, i reccomend the same fan but upgraded to copper. when the ramsinks are lined up correctly the fan cools the ramsinks and the Gpu and it looks cool

5 out of 5 eggsDo it right

Pros: Second from top of the line single card. Excellent rendering. Great for Battlefield.

Cons: A little jumping with maxed graphics in ESIV: Oblivion. Also, the fan just ins't sufficent enough. More in other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT RMA IT until you make sure the power connecter is all the way in. This gave me no end of trouble. I actually had to take the card out, then plug the molex connector in, then seat the card. Also, there are two capacitors on the board near the memory that make it incompatible with some water blocks. And if you want to take the fan and heatsink off for a 3rd party cooler, it's going to scare you to death when you finally get it popped off. The thermal paste they used to seal the bond basically turned to concrete. I would probably spend the extra money for the GTX if I did it over again.
