2 out of 5 eggsBeware of DVI

Pros: Price.

Cons: Using for HTPC, purchased primarily for the price, NVidia rep, and DVI output. When using DVI output connected to an HDMI HDTV input, the card fools the TV into thinking audio is connected to the HDMI input causing the HDTV to ignore its audio inputs. Did not have this problem with the 6150 chipset. Using the latest 163 driver. Apparently this is not an uncommon problem with the 8400's and 8600's.

Also, as someone else mentioned, the text quality is very very poor.

30 days is almost up. Will get an RMA ASAP.

Other Thoughts: Received from Newegg the next day!!!!! Too bad the card didn't live up to my expectations like Newegg did.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks for me.

Pros: Silent. Now I can watch HD DVDs on my computer and I didn't have to break the bank. Normal shape and size; takes up only one slot.

Cons: None for me.

Other Thoughts: Works great for my purposes (watching hd dvds). I'm really glad I didn't buy a more expensive card; this one's perfect.

5 out of 5 eggsNot a Bad Card

Pros: its not a bad card and despite what some people say its a good gaming card this is definately a good buy im not saying this is the best but it will get the job done and then some....

Cons: you might have to upgrade your power supply. it tends to crash with vista gaming i havent tested xp but a power supply upgrade might fix it.

Other Thoughts: just a few gaming problems with vista but i have narrowed it down to a power supply problem make sure u get something with atleast 20 amps on it and it has to be over 300w from what i have read but i do enjoy what gaming i can get out of it.

5 out of 5 eggsDirect X is 9.0c NOT 10!

Pros: No fan, more than fast enough for the graphics work I do. No fan, so it's quite and doesn't seem to produce that much heat.

Cons: NewEgg had it listed as a DirectX 10.0 card. The one I received is NOT. Not a big problem for me, but caveat emptor!

5 out of 5 eggsDave

Pros: Great specs at a great price. Easy installation. Comes with a component out attachment, VGA out, and HDMI attachments. Works great with Vista Home Premium 64.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: Not a gamer's video card, but still a great card for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat card

Pros: I think that this card is an excellent card for the money. I was very surprised that when I started up Counter Strike: Source and ran the video stress test it registered 107.39 frames per second.

Cons: It could be better if it had a fan (although this is a good heat sink), and it could be sli compatible

Other Thoughts: neweggs shipping rocks!

5 out of 5 eggsQuality video at a reasonable price

Pros: Very well made for an excellent price. Looks like the money was put into the screen and not the stand. But that's okay. No dead pixels. Very easy to set up and install.

Cons: Images and video are great, but text seems to be a little coarse.

5 out of 5 eggsMythTV OK and withstands high temps

Pros: I'm using the 8400GS in a HTPC with MythTV and Ubuntu. Fanless is very nice and quiet and it will withstand high temperatures without locking up. The room temp will sometimes reach 90F and the card hasn't overheated at all. I'm using the component out to an old Sony Wega 32" SDTV, but this card should serve well connected to a PC monitor by DVI or to HDTV by DVI-HDMI.

Cons: Linux drivers work ok, but overscan setting aren't as good as they used to be in older driver versions. Not the cards fault though. Not good for gaming, but that's not the purpose of this card for me.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome card

Pros: Installed flawlessly in my Vista machine. It handles HD content without breaking a sweat, using the latest (not beta) drivers on the nvidia web sight. Fanless - so no noise. Great for an HTPC.

Cons: None using the card for HTPC. This is not a gaming card, so don't expect 3D goodness....

Other Thoughts: For the price I don't think this card can be beat. It outperforms the ATI 2400PRO (I've owned both)
