5 out of 5 eggsGet some cooling for it

Pros: Runs hot with no air on it, but just a little air goes a long way to cool it. I chose a SilenX fan that I got here on Newegg that is not audible (10db) and that is all it needs. Doesn't have to be attached to the card, I have mine attached to the front of the case blowing on it, and an exhaust fan up top (also silent). Works great for some medium-light gaming.

Cons: There are razor sharp heatsink fins that will stick out of the PCI slot below the DVI connector. They bend very easy and will slice you up if you are not watching where you put your fingers whist fumbling around in the dark trying to get your DVI connection on tight.

Other Thoughts: Great for the money, and no noise! Beta windows 7 drivers work wonderful.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I bought this to run folding@home full time & quietly. It does better PPD than my 3870.

Cons: Of course I put a fan on it. SCYTHE SY1425SL12L(140mm, 29CFM, 10.8dbA). But in the end I got a quiet folding setup.

Other Thoughts: I strapped a 140MM fan to the side with fishing string. I had to leave the side of my case open, because it is old & does not have any case fans, just the power supply fan. When folding@home I get 52C & it loads my 6400+ @ ~60%(on 1 core). It produces ~3800PPD, which is better than my other PC(9950BE @ 3.1Ghz, 3870x2 @ 850 GPU & 950 MEM producing ~2500PPD @ 100% CPU).

3dmark06: SM2.0 = 4895 SM3.0 = 4633

None of my GPUs are OCed for the above results, only the OCing that the factory did. I don't believe in OCing GPUs for folding, because GPUs will continue to run even though it is producing errors(unlike CPUs, they lockup or reboot) & errors are not good for finding the cure for cancer or other diseases.

Pros: Reasonalble price \value relationship.

3-D perfromance outstanding.
2D performance poor.

Cons: Runs hot. 60C.
Needs very good case ventilation!
Got my temp down to 45C using 120mm fans.
Ocupies to slots.
May not fit in smaller Medium sized XT Cases.

Other Thoughts: Not for dedicated gamer!
Outstanding value for casual gamer and standard power PC user!

2 out of 5 eggsGigabyte silent cooling

Pros: It's powerful and cheap for a 1GB 9600

Cons: It runs at 100C easy

Other Thoughts: It's an awesome card performance wise but running Crysis or anything that does 30% or so usage means 100C+. I saw it hit 120C once before I put a LOT of fans on it but this is still really bad for other installed components. I'd give it a 5 for performance and a 1 for needing it's own case for the heat.
