5 out of 5 eggsGreat card for some older systems

Pros: Purchased the open box version from Newegg.

Good performance. It actually equaled the performance of the 5770 that I tried to get to work (see other thoughts). Many of the advantages of 40nm that can be seen in the 5xxx series. HDMI native to the card with no adapter needed. Being one of Gigabyte's "Ultra Durable" parts, this is an extremely well built card. Only 1GB 4770 that I have seen on the market. Quiet cooling system.

Cons: Idles a bit warmer than the 5770, but no worse than the x1950 I once had in the system.

Other Thoughts: Because of an issue with ATI's 5xxx cards on some older PCI-e 1.0 motherboards (a 580X chipset board in my case), I had to downgrade from a 5770 to this 4770. For those few who encounter the 'no post' problem with older motherboards and 5xxx cards, this 4770 is probably the best mid-range option out there.

5 out of 5 eggseasy to OC

Pros: This card is 8.5" long, with a 6 pin connector on top, which was all designed for shorter cases. So it would fit where a typical 9800 or 4800 would not fit. It works just fine for my CM Elite 360 mini case. The 3d06 score was 11910, and increased to 12647 with a mild overclock. I can't figure how to get it higher, but reviews show it equal to the 4850, if OC'ed to 950/950, probably around 14000. Easily passing a 9800, by a country mile.

Cons: none. I don't see how anyone gets off rating this less then 5 stars for the money!

Other Thoughts: This card was made to be overclocked, due to the 40 NM construction. Both the chip and the memory are eminently overclockable. This will fit in a small case and not bake cookies with excessive heat. The card clocks way down while in 2D mode, saving power.

4 out of 5 eggsExceeds HD4850 performance at lower price and power consumption

Pros: Meets/exceeds HD4850 performance at lower power consumption (when overclocked via Riva Tuner), and at a lower price-point (after rebate).

Quiet operation at full GPU load.

As of this review April.2010, offers the highest performance/price ratio (after rebate).

Good large-sized heatsink covers RAM also.

Cons: Reason why it's not 5 stars/eggs, but only 4.

GPU Fan is quiet but not silent at idle GPU load. (My old HD3850 was silent at idle)

I can hear the fan at nighttime when not gaming, my PC used to be silent before I installed this Gigabyte 4770 card.

Because the fan speed does not throttle up, limits overclocking due to temperature (although still very over overclockable).

Other Thoughts: CCC Overdrive has overclocking limits, (this can be overcome with Asus TOP Bios along with RadeonBIOSEditor1.25, patch a part of the bios that handles CCC Overdrive, google it)

To overclock the easy way, Use Riva Tuner (google it along with 4770).

Memory is rated at and overclockable to 1000MhzQDR.
Temperatures decent, but not great (when overclocked, due to slow fan that does not seem to throttle, so just don't overclock gpu core too much)

Newegg has awesome prices by the way (and customer service), I was not able to find a better deal elsewhere, not just on this video card, but other deals too!!!

Good price even before mail-in-rebate.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MW2 Card

Pros: This card performs as good or better than some of the ATI 5000 series. Don't let the 128 bit fool you, because this card has tons of shaders which make gaming amazing. Plus this card has 1GB ram, double the ram of other 4770 chipset models on the market. Easy install on the hardware. Modern Warfare 2 runs flawlessly. And at 85 after rebates, with free shipping this wasn't just a bargain but a steal! Also a tip of the hat to Newegg for the quick order processing and delivery.

Cons: software - driver kept getting stuck while installing C++ 2005 SP1. I just went to ati's website and got the most current driver for my system.

Other Thoughts: fyi, running
AMD Phenom 9500 Quad Core
6 GB RAM
of course HD 4770 1gb video card

tip:
search for the games you like to play benchmarking this video card and see where it stacks against more expensive cards.

4 out of 5 eggsDumb place for power connector, otherwise good

Pros: Good quality, crossfire capable, AMD product, Gigabyte name

Cons: Power connector is vertical on card making tough install in small gaming cases

Other Thoughts: I like this card. Recently bought a Sapphire HD4830 wanted one of those but they don't seem available anymore. This card has a good reputation for being overclockable and even comes with a software program for fiddling with GPU and other card settings. This card should be no issue in a desktop case but my portable cube gaming system case was another matter. I had to use a dremel to cut a slot in the lower drive bay so the stupid power connector could fit, I also had to slide the card most of the way in because the connector was millimeters away from the bottom of the power supply and I could not connect the power cord until the tray was almost completely in the case. So far quality very good. Roxio will hardware render with this card and newer versions of Roxio use special ATI only hardware commands to improve rendering speed even more. Pleased with the card but Gigabyte was stuck on stupid to put that connector vertically instead of horizontally.

2 out of 5 eggsInaccurate reviews

Pros: previous submission in error, wrong card

Cons: previous submission in error, wrong card

Other Thoughts: to newegg, hoping you guys actually review these. please just delete the review i made on this 20 minutes ago. I just realized I misread the part, and thought this was a 4870, not a 4770 :)

1 out of 5 eggsOver Priced

Pros: 1GB of GDDR5 RAM.
40nm TDP and process technology
Small footprint
Good performance

Cons: Over Priced.

Other Thoughts: With the release of the HD5750 1GB card with Direct X11 and eye fiinity the price on the Gigabye GV4777UD makes no sense at all.

HD5750 is a much better newer card for much less money.

1 out of 5 eggsreally?

Pros: I have a standard 512 4770 and I love it for my purposes as a casual gamer and novice gpgpu software developer.

Cons: That said, this card is really a joke at this price-point... 4870's w/ a gig are 10 dollars cheaper folks. So unless your really into power efficiency or want to see how high you can push the 40nm core I would really strongly recommend you purchase a 4870...

Other Thoughts: The good news is that Im sure the price will drop off once gigabyte isnt the only one with a 1gb variant of the 4770.
