5 out of 5 eggspeople need to read directions

Pros: everything about this card. Bought one for my home entertainment system. Streams HDMI perfectly at 1080.
No fan ultra quiet. Does get warm but thats my fault because I really did not put any fans in this system to keep it ultra quiet. (going to add a high volume lo speed 220 to the case lid)

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: during my initial build I was using a low profile case. so I removed the dsub connector and put the low profile bracket on. fit perfect. I see people complaining that the dsub doesnt fit in a low pro case and the pins are in the way. NO KIDDING!!!! thats why the dsub is removable. if you want to keep the dsub you can do what I ended up doing and buy an old AGP low pro card off fleabay for $5. remove the card and use the lowpro bracket for the dsub connector. but seriously people trying to put this card in a low profile system without swapping the bracket need to stop complaining and start reading.

5 out of 5 eggsoops, my bad

Pros: My bad, took the card out to mail back to gigabyte (they were very easy to deal with, sent me an rma immediately) installed my back up card and my comp continued to crash, turns out one of my memory sticks wasn't fully snapped in. The card is functioning properly and without issues. My apologies to gigabyte for my previously bad review.

Cons: None now, so far so good.

2 out of 5 eggsCrashes on boot, a LOT!

Pros: works fine once I get the computer booted up successfully

Cons: when I first got the card it caused bsod's only a few times, now every time I boot I get the bsod and it crashes the computer four - five times before I get a successful boot

Other Thoughts: was reading the feedbacks and saw someone else had an optiplex 755 like mine and encountered problems with the pins sticking up... I covered the pins-no help, even booted without the cover on, still crashes

3 out of 5 eggsGood card, bad design

Pros: Powerful card, heat sink only so super quiet, HDMI out, hooks up to TV and does 1080p video no prob.

Cons: Whoever designed this was high or something. It is sold as a low-profile ready card, which is it...and isn't....the pins for the VGA connector stick up above the low profile clip, there for if your ever putting it in a true low profile case (like a Dell or desktop case) it will not fit with the cover on unless you bend or clip the pins off (making the VGA connector useless...but who uses them anyways).

Other Thoughts: The card itself is good, the design as far as low profile is inconceivably idiotic.

3 out of 5 eggsRuns Hot

Pros: Cheapest passively cooled 6450 after $20 MIR
Silent (obviously)

Cons: Tested with MSI Kombustor upon first installation and was idling at 63C and up to 102C under load before I called it quits. (ambient temp around 25C)
Suspecting a bad seat, I removed the stock thermal paste, applied some Arctic Silver 5, and remounted the heatsink. Now it's idling at 48C and 92C after 10 minutes of burn-in. Better, but still not cool by any means...and it takes a VERY long time to cool back down.

Other Thoughts: As with all passively cooled GPUs, you need to have decent airflow though your case / across the GPU. Admittedly I have very little. This card will never be loaded to 99% for 10 minutes straight in this rig though so I'm not too worried about the high temps with MSI Kombustor.

5 out of 5 eggsKickin' Budget Card

Pros: Good sub-$40 card. Installation on Win 7 64-bit was a breeze. Rig is AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.40 GHz 8GB DDR3 667 MHz.
* WEI Windows Experience Index increased to 4.6/6.1 Graphics/GamingGraphics on this Radeon HD 6450 from 3.7/5.7 on my Radeon HD 5450
* StarCraft II playable at 1280x1024 Medium quality with High textures. First level "Liberation Day" was 25-35 fps, opening Jim Raynor cinematic 42-45 fps

Cons: * 6450s use about 27 watts, PC hotter now than with 5450.
* Temp 98 F in Windows and 105 F in StarCraft II.
* StarCraft II "Liberation Day" final in-game cinematic started at 45 fps but went as low as 15fps when the civilian runs away in the fog using settings listed above.

Other Thoughts: Heat sink nice and low profile. Came with nice plastic covers on each port VGA/DVI/HDMI which I left on the two I wasn't using to keep dust out. Go Gigabyte.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes a good job in a HTPC for a wallet friendly card

Pros: Plays HD media without taxing your CPU, stays cool and consumes little power, SILENT which is great for an HTPC, and can even do some light gaming on it if you turn details down or play older games

Cons: Can't think of anything considering its price and what it was meant to do (i.e. not meant for hard core gaming). If anything, it's not a huge upgrade from the typical integrated GPUs nowadays (like Intel Sandy/Ivy Bridge or the AMD APUs). Also, I had to recalibrate the colors on my TV after switching to this card :P

Other Thoughts: I got this for an older Socket 775 motherboard with the G41 chipset, so I had no HDMI or decent GPU on the motherboard. It actually replaced an old HD3650 which was way too hot for my tastes (typically in the high 70s to low 80s Celsius) in the new compact case I got for my HTPC. At $20AR this fit the bill, especially being silent. Like I said, my new HTPC is more compact so I don't exactly have really good airflow in it, but this little guy manages to stay at most in the mid 50s Celsius when playing an HD mkv file. Best of all, it's SILENT unlike the older 3650. However, the 3650 was definitely more powerful seeing as it had a 128bit memory bus (this one is only 64bit), and would have been a better option if I did more light gaming. I was a little disappointed in that respect since the 3650 is over 4 years old, but I shouldn't complain about that since the main function of this rig is an HTPC. Plus, this card has better/newer video processing features.

3 out of 5 eggsOk experience.

Pros: Did what it was supposed to do. Stayed cool.

Cons: Started making the monitor turn all pink. I updated all the drivers and still, ALL PINK. Tried it in other systems and other monitors. ALL PINK. Eventually, for some reason it just started behaving normally again. Maybe it felt neglected?

Other Thoughts: Ran great, broke, then seemingly fixed itself. Decent enough for me!
