2 out of 5 eggsToo big for my case

Pros: No fans, would be quiet and ideal for my HTPC if it had fit in the case.

Cons: BIG. HUGE. MONSTROUS. The heat sink is inspired by Reason. It barely cleared the memory and would almost have worked if the big curvy pipes that connect the heat sink to the board hadn't come up so high. Other fanless boards have pipes that bend sharper and would have fit.

Other Thoughts: Case was Antec Fusion. I doubt this would fit in any HTPC case. I replaced it with another Radeon card only to find out that you cannot stream netflix over HDMI due to "driver issues" that ATI hasn't fixed. So I guess the second con of this card would be that it is ATI graphics.

4 out of 5 eggsGood card

Pros: Dual DVI for multi-monitor config, Fanless heatsink means no noise

Cons: Heatsink is BIG and flexible - exercise care when installing and don't even think about using it to wiggle the card into the slot.

Other Thoughts: Check clearances carefully - the heatsink is big and needs room and good airflow. Worth it, though, for the quiet.

5 out of 5 eggsPay attention to the size of the heatsink!

Pros: It does what it should - The card works flawlessly under Ubuntu 8.04 with the restricted drivers from ATI. The passive heatsink cools the GPU efficiently with minimal airflow through the case. HDMI audio pass-through works, and it does it without the need for an annoying SPDIF header cable.

Cons: The heatsink is gigantic! The heatsink on this video card sits right over the DIMM slots of my abit IP35 Pro motherboard when installed in the primary PCI-e X16 slot, and even with the memory removed, the heatsink won't clear the top of the northbridge cooler. To even be able to boot my new system and make sure everything worked, I had to install the graphics card in the PCI-e X4 slot. Keep these things in mind if you have a motherboard with a similar layout.

Other Thoughts: The heatsink being in the way of everything is a darn shame, because the card seems to be great. The heatpipes on this card can and will fit within the confines of a Zalman HD 160 HTPC case - Just barely.

4 out of 5 eggsgood Card

Pros: Great Card for the Money especially for Nvidia with HDMI. MSI usually makes a sound product, installation was easy runs my Blue Ray well comes with all cables for Digital sound through the HDMI,,, over all a nice product for a media computer to plug into your home entertainment system

Cons: The card is a little large it is mainly the cooling fins and fan but if you have the room this has one of the best cooling systems I have seen. When I hooked the SPIF sound to run through the HDMI the graphics became distorted eveytime I used the sound (it must be a Frequency distortion)the directions were poor pretty much usless

Other Thoughts: This card really need at least 512mb of ram Install the MSI drivers first then update off of the MSI web site. then install the driver from the Nvidia web that way you get an intergration of both applications ie,, the new nvidia control panel plus the MSI intergration on the video settings

4 out of 5 eggsRebatless

Pros: Nice card, preforms well. Flight Sim is much smoother.

Cons: Yes it`s a huge card, takes up 2 slots, and the heat pipes need a lot of clearance, Kinda like the headers on my Nova. Also no rebate and no response to my inquire`s about it ?

2 out of 5 eggsstopped working after 15 days of use

Pros: Silent cooler is seems to be well designed and never got more than warm during heavy use, but this might also indicate poor design, especially since mine broke (I'm not sure how much heat this card's GPU puts out).

Cons: Inexplicably stopped working around 15 days into its life while the computer was in sleep mode. Was using an approved power supply.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend keeping your packaging intact in case failure is common with this part (replacement or return is unfortunately not possible without complete packaging), but that would preclude redeeming its mail-in rebate, which requires the original UPC to be cut out of the box and sent in.

4 out of 5 eggsit is red

Pros: No problems with it. Works great for me under Ubuntu.

Cons: I have always been leery of passive cooling for no good reason.

Other Thoughts: I got some pieces powder coated red for kicks.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice for HTPC

Pros: Completely silent, excellent packaging, nice heatsink, free MSI OEM copy of The Witcher, eggcellent price, DVI to HDMI adapter included, onboard sound chip for 5.1 through HDMI connection, HDCP compliant, and UVD decoding assist for H.264 material. Latest 8.3 Catalyst drivers support software 4:3 ratio scaling on 16:(9 or 10) widescreen monitors.

Cons: Can't be used easily or at all in small form factor cases. Placement of heatsink radiates heat right next to northbridge of most motherboards, and length of heatsink could cause interference with very tall memory chips. I just have small Micron memory chips with no heat spreader on them, and there is plenty of clearance between heatsink and top of RAM. I suppose another con is having to remove the video card to upgrade RAM, hard drive, etc. due to space conflicts or just plain delicacy of the metal fins.

Other Thoughts: The reviewer who made the comments about power consumption is misinformed. AMD/ATI does recommend a 400w power supply, but this card only uses around 36w (3A) at peak power draw. I have an Earthwatts 380w with 17A on each rail and the system runs overclocked (E2160@3.0Ghz) with rock solid stable voltages.

1 out of 5 eggsVideo Card PSU Requirements

Pros: None for the Video card. Am not unhappy with newegg service

Cons: Video card PSU requirement exceeds the system Power Supply output specifications. Most manufactures do NOT supply proper specifications on GPU's.

Other Thoughts: This is the 2nd pci-e Video card (Ist Asus EN8500GT Silent, BSOD XT SP2 problems, Returned) obtained for a system with Antec Earth Watts 500 PSU (12V @ 17A V1, 12V @ 17A V2). When this unit was received the box States "450W or greater power supply recommended (30A,12V)". The unit will also have to be returned.
Power Supply Specification Requirements are not to be found on most video cards at Suppliers or Manufacturer sites. In many cases when specs are found only the system PSU wattage is stated which in many cases is an inadequate spec. The VOLTAGE AND CURRENT Specification needs to be indicated for the GPU!!
I am not unhappy with newegg's service am very pleased newegg has been good to work with.

4 out of 5 eggsNICE CARD

Pros: Love ATI, Love this card. First MSI and was pleasantly surprised.

Cons: This puppy is BIG, had to cut out the pci slot in my case in order to fit this in.

Other Thoughts: Not a big fan of the Catalyst control center.
